Zenithink ZT-180 1GHz 10" tablet

All I want to know for right now is how do I get live wallpaper to work after I installed them? I have the super mario live wallpaper, but what next - my original wallpaper is still there. help please.

I got my Zenithink ZT 180 last wednesday. First thing I noticed was the corner of the display wasnt secured to the shell where a tiny hole for some kind of screw is ?? maybe?? I actually like it. It came with a 16gb tf card. I found a whole bunch of apps.

since you bought one, show us whether is it support 1080p or not? A thread on Pandawilforum told me " it can play 720p video well but when it plays the video with 1080p, it often jams. "

It technically will support 1080p. I tested it with a sample of Karate Kid (2010) 1080p .mkv file that was about 17mb in size. It was choppy making 1080p files highly unlikely for viewing. A 720p mkv file of nearly 2gb in size played pretty well with a tiny bit of choppiness. I'll try some 4.5gb and 8gb 720p mkv and let you know how it plays.

Im still tryin to get live wallpapers enabled on this zt 180....hmmm

I got a reply from Flat Computing, and they won't help me. They act as if their product is made by a completely different company.

Oh well, it was worth a try. If WiiPad was of any help, I would already have the tablet!

video of 0809 rom here:
YouTube - Zenithink 1Ghz Android 2.1 Tablet - Video Playback

as a company selling tablets and having had some of these for testing for over a month now, the product has potential, but there is no way we would sell it right now and provide warranty and after sales support.

if only china would release the source code the community could brush this up in no time. let's see how long it takes shenzhen!

Thanks! (nice to see your site is up)

But, I actually already have a copy of that document. When I couldn't get any help from wiipad, or anyone else, I emailed Zenithink. They quickly sent me that document. I sent it, and several forms, to the customs office last Saturday. I am waiting to hear from them.

When I first contacted the customs officer by phone, she said something interesting. She said that she is aware that manufacturers from China will take a short cut to obtaining FCC certification. One manufacturer will obtain certification, and then "share" it with other manufacturers. Since the FCC document provided by Zenithink has a different manufacturer listed on it, this looks exactly like what they may have done!

I took some steps to explain why this may be, in a letter included with my submitted forms. But since she is suspicious from the start, I may still not get my tablet.

Since wiipad didn't help me, but they said that they saw my posts here, I don't want to help them sell more tablets by posting details on how to get it through U.S. Customs!

Having a .us web address doesn't mean you are from the USA. WiiPad also has a .us web address. But you do seem to be actually US based, unlike wiipad.

found a good site for these, has the latest firmware etc. Zenithink (Wiipad) Android Tablet Support Forums, Firmware, Downloads and where to buy. . This really is a good tablet despite the lack of the Cortex. Really guys, if it DID have a cortex processor you would be paying at least $100 more than you can get them for right now. Dreem has it for $222 shipped, and they're a US company (ImportDistro USA - Cheap Tablet Computer - China aPad/iPed/iRobot @ Wholesale!) - i buy from them a lot and have no problems, and this tablet with the 818 firmware is not bad at all, and you can guarantee it will be updated to 2.2 and beyond in due time. It just needs more support.

take care.

Hi everyone,
Great thread here. Very illuminating. I'd like to ask a different question to the current Zenithink owners regarding responsiveness of the resistive screen. I am looking to mark up pdf documents - actually write handwritten comments on students' pdf documents they subkit for assessment. Using a stylus, how feasible is this likely to be, ie is there a significant delay which makes writing difficult. I teach a lot of maths/calculus so I need good responsivness so I can see immediately what symbols I have written.
This is going to be my main purpose of getting the Zenithink so it needs to do this well. [Actually that's what I'm telling my boss :).]

Any experiences or comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys.

Are you using WEP for security on your network??? a Number of folks including my self had trouble using WEP especially with the earlier Firmware (0708, or 0804) but it worked Open/Without security or with WPA... I'll try it a little later with WEB and the newest 0818 firmware as that seems to have a number of fixes ...

Will you be pushing Zenithink on releasing a stable and well working Android 2.1 rom?
The current released "official" versions are not usable for many owners.

Yes, I will do that. Please state a list of known bugs as well as requests which you would like to see in the next version.

I have just placed another large order with the manufacturer so they have my ear when it comes to suggestions.

Thanks,

I'm not trying to be a cheerleader for flatcomputing, but they dropped the price of their pad to $220 after the chip issue broke news, and now, for today and tomorrow (8/24, 8/25), shipping from Texas is half off, or $8.00: $228.00 shipped.

My question to all of you still looms before I myself pull the trigger on one: Can their pad be updated with the latest ROM's out there with ease? I have NO clue about how to do anything with these pads, and am leery about getting one until everything appears more stable...

just as easy as the rest. It's a technical process, but not complex. If you use a 64-bit operating system the software will not work. You will need 32-bit Windows.

It was easy for me, but I've been doing my own firmware burns for years. Zenithink is one of the easiest.

I don't use windows. You mean that I would have to buy and install windows just to update the ZT-180? That really blows!

Looks like I won't be updating my ZT-180. Maybe I should just tell customs to keep it!

So, with a 64 bit OS, I'm S.O.L?

Well, I just used my old non-64-bit windows. But you could make a virtual PC basedon on windows XP.

waterhead, I'm not sure if you're a windows or linux user, but you can use boot camp for apple. Also linux has some virtual PC apps as well. Not sure the steps to be honest.

I use Linux.

Android is based on Linux.

There should be no reason to use Winblows. :(

I Agree!!! Except for the FACT that Zenithink chose to only provide basically a Win3 based tool to Flash the tablet with... thus why I had been researching ways to repartiition to be able to use a recovery partition to boot to to install a full load like we do on our Android phones... just without bootloader and kernel source and drivers it's not very easy...

Well, I am going to sell mine. I just put it on Ebay.

It is a nice unit, but my iPad still does things better for right now. Rather than fight with Android, trying it to get what I want, I am going to sell it and come back to an Android tablet when things mature a little more.
I think this holiday season will be huge for Android tablets.

By the way, if you're interested and in the USA and would like one in your hands in a matter of days, you're welcome to bid on it.
