Root ZTE Avid 4G Boot loop screen

Hey, i used a root guide from this website for the zte avid and it installed correctly. i was able to go to the phone and see if it worked and did so i decided to change the system font everything went OK , then asked to reboot pressed OK and rebooted and now its stuck on the ANDROID letters on the boot screen and wont change. Please i would be very happy if i got a response.

not sure on what guide you used (can you post a link?), but always whenever you root a device you should always look into getting a custom recovery. it is an awesome tool that you can use to flash roms as well as backing up your current setup.

nandroid backups are great cuz they are like save points in a video game. whenever you make changes to your phone like changing fonts and stuff, if it messes the phone up you can then just restore the nandroid backup you hopefully created.

i do not have your device but hopefully someone can chime in as far getting your phone in working order again.

I had done this same thing with system font tampering. I had to use the Offical ZTE Avid 4G update zip in order to fix my device so no worries, there is a cure! However, you will lose any information in which you had on the phone as this update will return your system back to stock, as how you bought it. So your contacts and apps must be re-added.
Now, what you must do!

1: Download - http://www.zteusa.com/media/wysiwyg/ZTE-Avid/ZTE_Avid_4G_SD_Card_Upgrade_-_ZIP_-_304MB.zip
2. Place the ZTE_Avid_4G_SD_Card_Upgrade_-_ZIP_-_304MB.zip in the root directory of your sdcard. Try to use another phone in order to copy to your SDCard or an SDcard reader if you have one.
2. Boot into stock recovery, assuming that you are still stock recovery, otheriwse your custom recovery can do the trick as well.
3. From your recovery navigate using volume up/down and power key for 'ok' and make your way to flash update zip from SDcard.

Once completed, your system is new and will boot! best of luck.

Ok thank you i will try this once i get home i will give an update if everything went ok. Im just wondering if you have a have a recovery thing for the phone, im new to this all.

we do have a working CWM touch recovery working ;) thanks to totlth http://androidforums.com/avid-4g-all-things-root/702537-working-touch-recovery.html just follow the instructions and your ready

note: applying the sd upgrade to return to stock will unroot the phone. So u will have to reroot the phone first before u can install the CWM Touch Recovery

Operation Is Complete!! :D:D Everything went ok installed the upgrade, the working recovery file question about the recovery file how do i backup the files on my phone? But thank you all for helping me fix my phone :)

Also what apps can i use to edit my phone like the background in apps and on the phone settings and also the font on the phone too.

well to backup your phone what u do is hold volume up + Power button to boot into recovery (u prob know this) and go to back up and restore and then choose backup in CMW Touch Recovery and it will back up your system. (I try to make sure I have all the apps I wanted downloaded to the phone first before making my backup so I don't have to redownload them if I have to restore my system later).

As for when I flash a rom I first make sure I download titanium backup and make backups for all my apps and I make sure I place my Titanium Backup on my Sdcard that way I don't have to redownload it everytime I flash a rom. I just flash the rom then on boot I go into my Root Explorer or u can use file manager and go to the sdcard and install titanium backup. then restore my apps. bam everything is back in place.

I love titanium backup. It is well worth the money to go pro. You can integrate system app updates into rom, convert to user app or system app, clean up davlik cache and more.
If its not already obvious, I highly recommend this app.

I agree with that, Titanium Backup is A MUST for any rooted phone. Its just a all around great app to have.

I also use quickboot for when I wanna reboot into recovery. Saves me from having to press buttons to boot into recovery. its not a MUST HAVE app. but I like it. :)

Ok thank you for those apps just installed. For the customization any apps for that?

what I do to personalize my phone is go to the Play Store and click on Apps then swipe right once to Categories and go to Personalization. You could also look in tools for nifty things and ofcourse Widgets. You can also do a search for Launchers to spice things up abit.

Not sure which of the apps that do that type of mod are safe for this device, but rom toolbox does most of what you want
Be careful cuz like I said, I'm not sure which apps are safe for that.

You can also try the online themeing kitchen

You know titanium backup reboots to recovery.....can add reboot widget to homescreen too.:D

Ok yea ik that some apps aren't safe. i will try the online themeing kitchen when i get a chance thanks.

yeah there's some issues with rom toolbox. but u jave a recovery now. I did use rom tool box for a font once and it didn't stick. not sure about thr other fonts tho. And I did change my boot animation to iron man. but I haven't used it since then.

I didn't know Titanium did that @totlth but then again I haven't really messed with anything other than backup and restore in TB

for my phone ROM Toolbox Pro ★ 40% OFF is a great way to change fonts among other things.

and i totally agree with titanium backup. rom toolbox has the same features but i think tb does it better. but you will need to not only have Titanium Backup ★ root but also Titanium Backup PRO Key ★ root to truly unlock the potential of tb. you need both as the second is just a key that unlocks features in tb.

for me i like to use launchers to change how the phone looks. i like nova prime, but go launcher is also nice.

I've flashed this same stock ROM from ZTE at least 5 times (+ a few factory resets) & have kept root each time. I don't know if that has to do with the particular method I used, but (I think I got it from here) here what i used https://db.tt/PbPq3E8J. extract (folder name is 6), connect device to usb & either double click root.bat or open cmd to folder & type 'root' (no quotes) & hit enter. I've also never had to re-flash my CWM (touch-recovery from here) either.
