Root ZV5 ota

MapleBacon has found a GPS app that does the trick.
It's called TopNTP. It's a rooted GPS app that changes the phone's gps.conf file. It has different profiles you can choose from.
My GPS working like a champ now.:thumb:
Read the app details and check it out.

Which profile did you use?

Hey Chev, is it possible for you to make the update in a cwm flahshable package. I'm rooted, and v running game theorys kernel. I haven't modified anything other than minor tweaks, in just afraid that if I download the ota and install I will lose cwm, and brick my phone.

Why not use the restore method above? Or use the unbricking thread to get back to stock? Hmm I could possibly get to it this weekend if I'm not too busy working on a rom or something.

I don't v always have access to a PC... and c when I do my time is v always cut short on it...

If I'm rooted with stock recovery but I have frozen a bunch of system apps, do I need to unfreeze them to update?

Whnen i try to install. It didnt it still say zv4

When I first received the update it wouldn't install for me. My phone was rooted and I had removed several of the apps that were initially installed by boost. To fix the problem I did a factory reset and allow boost to update the phone and it appeared it re installed all the bloat apps back. After I did that I used the procedure mentioned earlier by going into the apps and stopping the google frameworks services and clearing its data. Then did the check for update and it redownloaded and installed properly and now shows it is at zv5.

I installed game theory's zv4 kernel, can I apply the update over that? I haven't altered anything on the system other than minor tweaks that can be undone.

Got the update notification today. Downloaded the update, it rebooted, got the little android guy with the spinning thing in his belly. When the phone finally finished booting, I checked in about phone and it was still listed as ZV4.

Used the procedure to force another update with the same result. My phone is rooted but otherwise stock. Anyone have any ideas what might be wrong?

Mine did the same till I did a factory reset and let boost mobile download any missing apps.

Then I did the check update and downloaded and it installed fine.

Did the update. But, I did a CWM backup before hand.
It tried installing, but then canceled due to an error, and bricked my phone. Kept giving me unsafe boot bullshit errors, and kept taking me to CWM and wouldn't even allow me to even restore, wipe, or anything. No matter what I did, it wouldn't allow me to load an OS to my phone.
Had to run LG tools and unbrick my phone, and redo root and CWM, flashing back to ZV4. ZV5 destroyed my phone with a brick.

Take precaution... I'm not even going to TRY to mess with ZV5. Screw that. I cut off the notification and hope for another day and wait for a guaranteed. Lol.

Lateline here.... I finally got the Flash Tool to work! I had to use an older computer. Apparently Windows 8/8.1 doesn't do to well with the flash tool. The whole download mode was a little confusing but I was finally able to get to the port settings on the older laptop and it just started right up! The notification came and smooth sails. It took a while but thank you LogiStiker and Chevanlol and everyone else who helped along the way to make this happen with out bricking my phone. Sweet

Mine did the same try thing. ZV5 doesn't agree with CWM. I used the flash tool to put me back on ZV4, then updated to ZV5. Rerooted with framaroot and just use 2nd init recovery until CWM is fixed.
