Root ZV5 Update

Doesn't look like it updates much except for itson and a couple of other things. That's just from first glance though. Gonna update my cm11 with zv5 kernel soon though. New radio might be nice.

The radio is probably what will break a phone if you try to flash it with a custom recovery. I remember with the LG elite there were a bunch of brickes because people were trying to flash an update with custom recovery and it turned out to be the radio not flashing properly.

"ItsOn gives mobile network operators unprecedented control over the entire customer experience by enabling the ability to design and deploy new types of service plans in minutes rather than months. The ItsOn platform simplifies and consolidates the end-to-end creation and deployment of mobile policies and services.“

It allows the customized plans a lot of the carriers are starting to roll out. Just like the Virgin Mobile custom, where they allow you to adjust the minutes text and data on the fly.

Ok i think i understand what you mean. Why is it that in the data menu, with msl, ItsOn is off? Maybe Boost doesn't have those special kinds of plans yet?

No boost mobile doesn't use itson. You'll just find it enabled on phones who's carrier support that customized plan crap. Virgin Mobile Custom, Ting, etc.

I got the update installed. No real difference noticed. The only issue I need to fix is the buildprop is not being updated because it's failing the sh1 check. I either need an original unedited zv4 buildprop or find a way to apply patch without checking sh1 hash. Since buildprop isn't updating the software version doesn't update so it keeps prompting to install update.

Did you check the updater script?

Yeah, since I had edited my buildprop it wouldn't apply the patch. The original file must match the hash check before the patch will apply. If not it skips it.

I was able to successfully get zv5 installed though with root. Luckily I was a little bored last night so I didn't mind how much of a pain it was. I'm hoping I can I get a stock rooted zv5 zip out to you guys sometime today.

Hopefully you can. Life's been too busy for me, especially this week having to work 12s.

Yeah works been crazy as heck for me too. Not much time to do anything. I did manage to throw a zip together but there's no service on reboot. Has to be a permission issue but gotta track it down.

I'm really impressed how quickly you've made progress with this!
