Root ZV5 Update

Sorry guys I got put on Mandatory overtime yesterday so I haven't had time to try to fix the zv5 rom package. Looks like it may be a few days too. With commute I'm gone from 5:30a to about 9ish pm

If anyone else wants to try and work on it I can provide a system dump or I can tell you how I updated.

I plan to try when I get the chance but I've had mandatory overtime all week from 11 to 11 with a possible Saturday too.

i would do it but i dunno the proper way to merge *.p files, and i dont have all of the parts i need, i have tonight and tomorrow off work, so if one of yall can get me the other parts i need and tell me how to merge em in linux ill get it goin for ya, otherwise i plan to wait for one of yall to push a zip again

@CrimsonToker I deliver food (funny thing is i still use a standard car gps, and not my phone)

No boost mobile doesn't use itson. You'll just find it enabled on phones who's carrier support that customized plan crap. Virgin Mobile Custom, Ting, etc.
Its On is the Parent company of the former Zact service. The Its On functionality is exclusive to Sprint Pre-Paid subsidiary Virgin Mobile Custom .
It is/was not really crap. Sprint turned it into crap by eviscerating what the technology could do and purchased the exclusive rights to use the technology so no one else could. Its On is a whore and Sprint could f**k up a wet dream.

I've been messing around making a rooted zv5 rom zip but for some reason I end up having no service after installing. Phone just states its looking for service, and under about it doesn't display any information about the phone. I feel it's a permission issue noy allowing to rom to communicate with the radio, but I haven't found the issue yet. I've built the zipz multiple times and even tried the meta data folder from working roms. I've been limited on time due to work so haven't had a whole bunch of time to fool with it.

Any Ideas?

I may go ahead and post the files to get to rooted zv5 the long way if anyone wants to, until it gets figured out.

Other stock ROMS wouldn't flash the radio properly when using a recovery other than the non touch bumped CWM. Maybe its related?

Am I the only one getting way better battery life with V5 or no? My phone shipped with v4 a couple weeks ago when I got it from amazon, for boost. I figured I'd get it since it was $60, and all of the great features it comes with are a steal for the price...It's rather loaded with apps and games and I have about 500 MB left with a 32 GB SD card (which doesn't seem to take all of the app data when I press move to SD on the apps that it lets me?) Either way, the update seems to have helped battery life? Or it's that i'm using clean master and I use the setting to disable background apps when the screen is off? Either way...my battery life seems to last about a full 2 days now.

I flashed the zv5 de-odexed rom and the radio and could not get service until I went to settings>system updates>update profile and >update prl. Everything was great after that.

Yeah that's a known problem listed in the OP. After the update everything works great.

The battery on this phone is incredible in general. I haven't noticed any great improvement with zv5, but I've been getting up to 2 days since I bought it.
As for moving apps, yeah, unrooted app moving does not move data because non-system apps aren't allowed to write to the external SD. If you do root, I would suggest getting link2sd.
Get rid of Clean Master, it's garbage. Use Battery Guru instead. It's designed specifically for our processor and uses adaptive learning to manage app activity and connection status automatically based on your use of the phone.

Would you suggest battery guru over greenify?

They could be used side by side, but based on how Battery Guru works, I think Greenify would be redundant since Battery Guru does the same thing, only more intelligently. You might install Battery Guru, let it get set up, then have Greenify monitor things for a few days and see how many wakeups you're still getting. Would be an interesting test.

TBH, i don't really understand how greenify works. I've been using it, and i think there's been a difference but I'm not sure.

With Greenify, you tell it what apps you don't want to do anything without direct interaction (so no automatically checking for updates or anything like that) to reduce background battery drain and data use, and it stops them. Battery Guru attempts to do the same, but makes the decision on its own based on how you use a given app and tries to predict when it needs to let the app do its thing to be ready for you when you need it.
