Root ZVB? ZVD? homeless? Opinions/Thoughts Please

Ok, so I have flashed a lot of ZVB roms/kernels, but based on the not-so-great feedback from users on ZVC and the lack of roms, I decided to stick with ZVB. When ZVD, I was so turned off by ZVC that I didn't even bother trying to upgrade because I didn't want to have to try to downgrade, reflash, etc.

Also, I used homeless kernal 1.0 and although battery life was pretty amazing, my gmail was not updating. It would sometimes take over an hour to get the notification that I received an email (and this is very important to me).

That said, there seems to be a lot of users going on board the ZVD boat and it's making me curious. Currently, I use GSE with Artic ZVB 1.1 because it works fine for me.

1) Has anyone else had the same issues with homeless/gmail?
2) What's so great about ZVD that is worth upgrading from ZVB that I don't have many issues with. Is it better on battery? stability? performance?
3) Is it better to stick with ZVB until ZVD is more fully developed (roms/kernals)?
4) I tried searching, but is ZVD able to be overclocked? Also, is there a need?

I would like to hear many different viewpoints so I'll be grateful if anyone provides their feedback. Thanks in advance.

I've never had a problem with my email. Also, the newest version upgrades and fixed everything (so I've heard); however, I'm waiting till the ZVD version is further customized. Currently, there is no overclock, as LG has yet to release its source codes (needed to create and develop kernels).

I'm on ZVD and love it. I didn't have most problems with ZVB that others did, other than sluggish response and the slide lock not working. I'm currently using the debloated stock rom for ZVD and just flashed the Blitzkrieg kernel a couple of hours ago. My cpu is set to 1900 Mhz and did an AnTuTu test and scored a 4359 which is better than some of the posts I've seen. I'm extremely happy with the phone, except that it still won't block calls.

I also have not had any issues with my email.

Basically you need to stay with ZVB until official ROMS come out for ZVD. I for didn't notice that greta of a difference in switching to ZVD, which is why I went back down to B.

As far as over clocking. Let me tell you something. Over clocking is over rated. It really is. I keep my phone at 658 because the difference between 658 and 2.1 isn't worth the amount of battery my phone will be sucking dry at 2.1. Make sense? A lot of people have the preconception that over clocking their phone speeds up their connection. No. Over clocking your phone makes the "Actual" phone run smoother. Windows will open milliseconds faster and switch a little faster. Is that worth shitty battery life? That's up to you. For me it isn't. My phone is amazing right now how I have it set up and my CPU stays at 658 and my battery life is straight as hell.

With that being said once ZVD gets straightened out it will be best to try whats out there and see which one works best. Anyone on here can tell you that no 2 phones are the same. What works for one MAY NOT work for another. ;)

+1 and i keep mine at 1 GHz. Coming from an ascend it is amazingly fast and i make my battery last 8 hours when I'm at school with moderate use. Battery isn't an issue for me. Ever since i got the esteem on Monday it has been a great. I would like to switch tothe 1.8 plague kernel but don't know if it's for the ZVC version. As far as that it's amazing. No complaints what so ever

Plague worked for me on ZVD. I flashed to Blitzkrieg today with better results set at 1900 Mhz. My phone has been pretty responsive with no issues. What do you mean by keeping yours at 1 Ghz?

Not over clocking it is what he's saying. Basically there's no real benefit, only a greater battery usage from doing so.

PLUS over clocking your CPU with a kernel that wasn't built for the phone just seemed like a bad idea in the first place. Sure I didn't have any problems either, but you don't know what it's actually doing to your phone. That's why all the awareness threads have been made.

First, thanks to everyone who gave their input.

Fuzzy, thanks especially for you input about overclocking being overrated. Mine only clocks to 1.8GHz but, I tried to see if lowering it to 652MHz would create any noticeable differences and it doesn't make much of a difference. I haven't been playing 3d games lately so this will be my default from now on.

Question (for everyone, but I'd like to know from Fuzzy in particular):
What is your current setup? What kernal, rom, apps, settings, theme, etc are you using to optimize your performance, battery, stability, aesthetics?

Setcpu, Battery 2X(I think that's what it's called), root explorer. Using LD-LG ZVC. Go launcher ex with no theme. At 1Ghz. On setcpu I have a profile that lowers the CPU to 122 at booth min and Max when the screen is off.

I'm running LD LG 1.8 for zvd and ick test 8 theme for zvd and speed kernel for zvd

Ok, I'm gonna take the plunge! I didn't want to do it because I didn't want to have to figure out how to downgrade, reroot, etc, but I'll trust your word for it. By any chance are you going to make a Rom similar to Arctic again? I really liked it a LOT. I especially liked the Launcher and Launcher theme, the whole notification bar, and the unlock screen.

There were only 2 minor things that wasn't perfect for me. The settings bar in the pull-down menu because it's difficult to tell if GPS is on or off sometimes, and also, I didn't like the text part of the notifications-list that much (although it's a lot better than most I've seen). I prefer ones that are somewhat plain so that the notification are very easy to read (I like the boring plain white backdrop with black regular font look). It's cool to colorize/texturize, but it's somewhat I prefer function over design especially since I'm often reading it. I eventually got somewhat used to it though.

After I get ZVD on my phone, I'll participate in your LDK-ICK thread, although forewarned, I'm a tough but grateful critic, and I'm not too fond of ICS themes. Hopefully I get used to it. Thanks for all your contirbutions Ldrifta! :D
