Root ZVD. Root issue.

Fuzzy13

Extreme Android User
Went back to ZVD. Installed LD-LG and plague kernel. Rooted phone as normal and installed CWM.

Went to edit a theme in android commander and I cant push/pull because commander is saying im NOT rooted. wtf?

I know I am rooted because............I am. lol

Why is commander saying Im NOT rooted? I updated SU binaries in SU and checked to see if it's latest version and yada yada yada. Didn't work.

Thoughts?

I had this same problem with the Admire when the FIRST root was available. Phone was rooted but commander said it WASN'T.

So is it something with the root?

Rebooted the phone back to ZVD stock rooted to see if that would fix it. Nope. Still saying it's not rooted but it is rooted. It's gotta be something within the root.

All other root apps and what not work fine. It's just not being recognized as a rooted phone. Strange.

No custom ROM:confused: A few out there.

What are you trying to do with le Commander:confused:

Yeah I realized that after the fact. Im running ragged right now. lol

I think Ive got it though..........had to edit default.prop for it to hard root.

We shall see.

My phone is rooted, but program runs without root access. Why?
There are two types of root:

  • Soft Root: gives you root access from the shell and phone applications.
  • Hard Root: gives you root access from the ADB and the shell.
You need this second.
How to get ADB root access?
You have two ways:

  • Flash any custom ROM, they are modified to work with root access.
  • Edit your boot image.
    • Pull out your boot.img.
    • Unpack.
    • Edit default.prop file, set value „ro.debuggable” to „1″.
    • Re-Pack.
    • Flash.

So Im trying to edit the default.prop file with file manager and I can change but when I reboo it gets changed back.

Any thoughts?

That's what im doing but it wont stick.

no, i think you're doing what i'm doing, which is going to whatever file manager you're using (root explorer here) and editing the default.prop in there which is not, apparently, the correct way, therefore is not sticking :(

Ive tried both ways. I can edit the file in wordpad but I dont know how to get it back on the phone.

MT's brokenout rom has the default.prop already with the "1" on it. explain what you did

Yeah I flashed it but the stock UI sucks so I tried flashing the green theme and the ICk theme both of which worked but had errors so I went back to LD-LG and i tried it and it worked.

So now im back to my original task, which is editing the green theme to how I want it. What i was trying to do to being with. Shits got me twisted. Ugh lol
