Well I found out you can trim down the hands and make them minumn, without the angatizing on looking at your lock screen, because it is pointless about it.

Where is the shortcut? If it's on your desktop the usual way is to press and hold until either a menu comes up or you can drag it off the screen (usually to a bin at the top) - precisely how depends on the launcher, and I've never used an LG so don't know their interface.

If you can't remove it (but can remove other icons) that may mean that they have decided it's so important that you don't get a say, like Google do with their search bar and clock widget. In that case the solution is to install a different launcher and use that instead.

If it's somewhere else you'll have to provide more information. Shortcuts in the notification area can usually be edited, but you usually need to pull the slide down all of the way and then either look for an edit button or a context menu (3 dots), again depending on the manufacturer (as they all change the software to some extent).

In an Army troubleshooting training thing they taught us about the LCU (Lowest Cost Unit). First troubleshooting questions were "Is it plugged in" and "Did you reboot it?"

Can you see if rebooting into Safe Mode changes anything? That would help to rule out interference from a misbehaving application.

Well, bad news... While she was tinkering with it (it is her phone, in the end), she updated past the required build for the root guide.

I suppose on the upside, it also means I'm off the hook on trying to get it rooted in the meantime, since it isn't my fault.

yep i just checked over at https://forum.xda-developers.com/ and there are no threads for your phone. xda is the place to go for all things root. this means that there is no community of devs for your phone.

just remember no devs=no fun

even if you can root the phone, there are no devs to develop a custom recovery. a custom recovery is a very important tool for root users and without one, i would highly NOT recommend that you root the phone.

if you plan on rooting a phone, do your research first over at xda to see if there is a community for that specific phone.

Yeah, it looks like another example of service providers messing with the software. Just pure control freakery, corporations deciding they know what you need better than you do. US carriers seem to be the worst on the planet for this too.

One reason I never buy carrier handsets. And in answer to the question addressed to me, no, I doubt that paying off the phone will make any difference.

I moved this to the development area for better exposure.

I'm not an Android developer, but I see no reason why a client / server setup as you describe

I had a strange occurrence happen a few times and I thought it was me. I didn't hear my phone ring, but a spam blocker app said I missed a phone call. How could I miss a call when my phone didn't ring. When I checked my recent call list, they were on the list, the calls that didn't ring. A few days ago I found 3 or 4 articles describing exactly what happened to me. Its a reported glitch on the Pixel 6 Pro. Unfortunately, the last time I checked, Google hasn't stated when a fix was being released. So if it happens to you, its your phone and not you. (◉‿◠)

Gee, I tried to use an outdated device that is not from my chosen provider, and then put in a different SIM.
It won't work, but I don't know why.

So I bought another phone that is not from my carrier, and put in a SIM not designed for it and it still won't work.

I just cannot figure out what went wrong, but I will gladly spit on anyone trying to point out the obvious.
