did you see samsung smart manager. it gives the option to store especially whatsapp contents in sd card. You can access the videos and audios and delete in sd card. the app still works as usual by using internal storage of the apps space.
Hi,Hadron, I also came to know that this feature is not stlll available in whatsapp app which should have a settings to effect.
and whatsapp says it is improving on that.
But why it has not became a regular feature?
You know that whatsapp videos if you have groups would flood internal storage and manually moving videos would only move those videos selected like copy and paste.
But would it not be nice if you allow those features so that you could just delete the contents you do not need to swell up the storage.
or is there any idea , you could give to avoid the internal storage from swelling through the medias

I do on my browser, but when I use the apk on my phone I don't want it to have ads, and I also won't be able to download an ad blocker on android tv

It would be way sweet if the major sports had their own area. They should be labeled just as ocn posted above. Most of the major sport have both professional and college levels with a following. Dividing pro from amateur is too watered down in my opinion. The "other" sport area is needed for there are many sports and followers. Tennis, Golf, Olympics could have an area of their own. It is all subjective to the sport's fan. I follow the three additional sports mentioned for I'm a fan. However, I think they belong in the "Other" area.

To avoid the headache of filtering and sorting the different sports, a one inclusive header (Sports) is what we had and it worked for the most part. Active threads kept the current sport towards to top.

I have all that nonsense turned off, let me know how it goes ...

Maybe they think we're all thick and would get confused when we couldn't find the power button. Using Android is as bad as using a Mac, built for children. I'm surprised they don't insist we always tilt to the left for landscape. Maybe they'd get sued by left handed freaks.

i did the factory reset but still it keeps power off. is there any app to check the wear and tear of the battery. the charging involves, the battery, circuit and the charger, and the connecting wire. To find, if the battery wear is more, could you recommend a real software that does it.

You should be able to increase it. The default is stupid, mine actually said "recommended" and was set at 7.5MP! Whhy on earth would you buy a good camerra and deliberately downgrade it?

Go to settings in your camera app, then under photos (and video) you should be able to change it to "high resolution". For me that ups it to 30MP, but I'm still missing 20....

I am told by someone else that when you set up the alternate DNS, it encrypts the URLs of the Website shortcuts and that is probably why it deleted them when it was disabled. Not completely sure this is correct, but sounds plausible even though many of those links were set up long before the private DNS.

Yes, I am convinced they are lost forever.

I did not like saving the shortcuts this way, but it was convenient and easy to access them. Some of them, like a link to Google Tasks eliminated the need to install the app. Others were just saved that way because it was easier than bookmarking for the reason I already gave and I was pressed for time.

I had planned on backing them all up one day or copying them or even manually storing them in a text file but the last time I checked there were really no good ways to deal with these shortcuts in bulk (like converting them to bookmarks). So I put it off and paid the price.

Too late now! Oh well.

PS: For some reason it also deleted some (but not all) of my Widgets. Looks like the ones it didn't delete might have been for the stock built in apps. This wasn't a big issue and I was able to recreate them. But it is puzzling why it would do that especially since to my knowledge those Widgets had nothing to do with the Internet and I can't see why they would even have access.

I think this might help. Follow this, and reset the calling SIM preferences.

To do it through Google Dialer/Phone app
Phone app >> 3 dot menu in the top-right >> Settings >> Calling accounts (Under GENERAL) >> Voice calls (Under 'Make and receive calls') >> Always ask

To do it through the system settings app
Settings app >> Network & Internet >> Internet >> Settings icon beside your carrier name >> SIM preferences >> Voice calls ('Under Preferred SIM for') >> Always ask

If you are flashing the same ROM .zip file that was installed previously then you should be able to do so without doing a factory reset in the process. So if it's the same ROM, and if your data haven't already been deleted, this should be possible.

Now I've never heard of OrangeFox so don't know whether there is any quirk in its interface, such as it doing a reset by default when you flash a ROM. The recoveries I used in my ROM flashing days, including the most widely-used one (TWRP) kept such things separate: you just flashed the ROM, and it was up to you whether you did a reset or not. But if you didn't choose to do a reset when flashing and the data were gone then maybe you need to do something special with OrangeFox to tell it not do a wipe (the opposite of what other recoveries do)? Or maybe the data had already been deleted by whatever corrupted your ROM, and so nothing you did could have saved them.

I am however curious about this "recent upgrade": custom ROMs don't generally receive over the air updates, you update them by flashing a newer version of the ROM. So what exactly was this "recent upgrade", and what exactly happened (as this might give a clue as to what happened to your data)?

Of course if you flash a different custom ROM from the one that was previously installed it's likely you'd need to do a reset anyway, since the system data and settings will almost certainly be incompatible. If it's based on a different base (e.g. AOSP vs a manufacturer's own customised Android) or a different major version of Android then you almost certainly need to do a reset.

If you have a custom recovery and don't want to risk losing stuff then take a backup using the recovery every now and then (a "nandroid" backup) and keep a copy on some other device (SD card, flash drive, etc). If your ROM is rooted you can also take full app and data backups: Titanium Backup used to be the go-to app for this, but I think it's not been in development for a while. I've heard that there are alternatives, but as I no longer root I don't keep up with such things.

I'm developing a web app that uses audio recording. The issue I'm facing is that when the phone locks after inactivity, Android shuts down the microphone, probably due to a security policy.

I'm not aware of any way to allow a website to keep the microphone on during a screen lock.

Is anyone aware of how to shut this behavior off, or work around it? I think a mobile app can probably do it, but I'm wondering if a web app can.
