Well, I'm just assuming it will work given how dated DH 14 is at this point. Note that primer article is from 2013, which predates the release of those 'problematic' Galaxy S7 phones (early 2016). So my assumption is based on supposition for the most part.
Another clue to this puzzle is I rely on Signal Private Messenger as my texting messaging app, which also uses ECDH -- which I recall was working fine on an even more dated Galaxy S3 back in its day (released in 2012).

If you want help the first step is to tell us what the problem is...

("Network unlocked" generally just means "not locked to a particular network's SIM cards", and so is not a problem).

Maybe if you tell us what the "hidden menu" is called it will be easier to answer.

Two common hidden menus are "developer options", which you unlock by tapping repeatedly on the "build number" in the software information, and the "Testing" menu which you access by typing *#*#4636#*#* into the phone dialer. If it was something else you were thinking of I'll need more information.

It depends what launcher you have. In most cases a long press on an empty spot on the desktop will do it. Otherwise go to the app drawer and try a long press on the app you want to create a shortcut to.

I have Gboard keyboard app installed on my Android 5.1.1 (Sony Xperia Compact Z1). In my country (Czech republic) we are using qwertz keyboard layout. Gborad works fine with this layout on mobile screen, but the problem is that when I connect HW keyboard (bluetooth or usb), it is switched to qwerty and I can't change it.

How can I solve this problem?

Apparently Device Maintenance is actually Qihoo 360, which is another Chinese snake-oil app, similar to Clean Master.

The app it's complaining about is Google Now or Google Search isn't it, a system app that comes with the phone? I don't suppose there's anyway to disable this feature?

Yeah, I've done a bit of checking and can't find any official software newer than 4.4.3 for that model.

In terms of custom software (which requires you learning how to unlock and root the device), if you are prepared to give up the HTC interface and apps then over at XDA I've found one unofficial build of CyanogenMod-12, which is based on Android 5.1. The developer has long since stopped supporting it, so it would be take it as you find it, and make sure you know how to restore the original software if it doesn't work because there will be no fixes. 5.1 is also pretty old, so I'm not sure I'd think it worth the effort myself, but that's the only thing I can find that's newer.

Find some one with the unlocked version and have them send you a copy via google drive flash using odin

The warranty is a genuine concern. Other stuff it depends on whether these things are important to you (e.g. I personally wouldn't give a damn about Samsung Health or Samsung Pay, but for others these might be vital. Actually as a matter of principle I will never use a manufacturer-specific app because the purpose of those is to lock you in to that manufacturer).

I would always recommend anyone thinking about rooting to do their research first and ensure they understand what it involves, the pros and cons, as well as exactly how to do it and how to recover if it goes wrong, before they do anything. And I speak as someone who for many years would routinely root my devices, replace the ROM, even modify the system partition table or the bootloader, so not someone averse to fiddling.

But in this case I don't think it matters, because the option AFAIK isn't available.

Reverting may be tricky: I don't know this model but few manufacturers make this simple.

Have you considered backup and reset? A lot of quirks after a major update are due to data from the previous setup that aren't compatible with the new OS, so a clean start can fix such issues. I can't promise, but this is a well-known fix for issues and glitches after a major update.

Hay @Hadron sorry for the late reply.

Both phones using the same calender, but I did fire up google calender to check the options in there. Although the samsung app does not allow exporting, google does via the web portal. But yet again, because there is no way to sync the calender stored on the phone you cannot download it.

I guess a third party app is the way to go. I have ported some over to my new phone and disabled the calender stored in the phone itself so I don't get the same issue later on. Although I need to figure out why it is adding the events to an imported calender rather than my default "named" calender.

hi - i didnt see a pencil but was able to add some apps to list (just didnt see the feature option listed as per pics i had seen
....it does stop third party apps ok .... more config and core apps would be cool too
