Apparently Device Maintenance is actually Qihoo 360, which is another Chinese snake-oil app, similar to Clean Master.

The app it's complaining about is Google Now or Google Search isn't it, a system app that comes with the phone? I don't suppose there's anyway to disable this feature?

They've already been yanked from the Play Store, but if you're using them or have them installed, it's best to get rid of them.

Yes forget about the update, the phone is still good for making calls or texting, and maybe some limited apps running...

Even if you update your phone, it won't be able to run the newer apps as it doesn't have the necessary hardware power.

Yeah, I've done a bit of checking and can't find any official software newer than 4.4.3 for that model.

In terms of custom software (which requires you learning how to unlock and root the device), if you are prepared to give up the HTC interface and apps then over at XDA I've found one unofficial build of CyanogenMod-12, which is based on Android 5.1. The developer has long since stopped supporting it, so it would be take it as you find it, and make sure you know how to restore the original software if it doesn't work because there will be no fixes. 5.1 is also pretty old, so I'm not sure I'd think it worth the effort myself, but that's the only thing I can find that's newer.

Find some one with the unlocked version and have them send you a copy via google drive flash using odin

The warranty is a genuine concern. Other stuff it depends on whether these things are important to you (e.g. I personally wouldn't give a damn about Samsung Health or Samsung Pay, but for others these might be vital. Actually as a matter of principle I will never use a manufacturer-specific app because the purpose of those is to lock you in to that manufacturer).

I would always recommend anyone thinking about rooting to do their research first and ensure they understand what it involves, the pros and cons, as well as exactly how to do it and how to recover if it goes wrong, before they do anything. And I speak as someone who for many years would routinely root my devices, replace the ROM, even modify the system partition table or the bootloader, so not someone averse to fiddling.

But in this case I don't think it matters, because the option AFAIK isn't available.

Reverting may be tricky: I don't know this model but few manufacturers make this simple.

Have you considered backup and reset? A lot of quirks after a major update are due to data from the previous setup that aren't compatible with the new OS, so a clean start can fix such issues. I can't promise, but this is a well-known fix for issues and glitches after a major update.

Both phones using the same calender, but I did fire up google calender to check the options in there. Although the samsung app does not allow exporting, google does via the web portal. But yet again, because there is no way to sync the calender stored on the phone you cannot download it.

I guess a third party app is the way to go. I have ported some over to my new phone and disabled the calender stored in the phone itself so I don't get the same issue later on. Although I need to figure out why it is adding the events to an imported calender rather than my default "named" calender.

A good news. I fixed the issue about HAXM V7.5.2 installing. So, now my HAXM device works well, and I can start any AVDs based on intel CPU and HAXM required.

I've never seen this behaviour, and have never done anything to prevent it. I also can't reproduce it as described above, but then I don't get that search result anyway (probably due to not being American).

However I don't use Chrome, so it could be that that's the reason.

A year later is surely too late, but as this is Android there will be no "trash" and control z won't do what you think. I suspect your post is about a PC rather than an android device.

The correct answer for a removable memory card is to remove it, put it in a card reader, attach that to a computer, then use whatever file recovery software you like (there are completely free and well-known utilities like Recuva for Windows which will do this just fine).

Additional memory cards are irrelevant to the low space warning. That only refers to internal storage.

Can you post the full file name, without ellipses? And how large is this file, and where in your filesystem is it? It's not something I recognise, and is probably deletable, but if it possible to get more information I'd like to check that before making any recommendations.

I just wanted to post an update, in case a search brings someone here thinking they've found a solution to the anonymity issue. Not exactly.

While I'd changed my name to "A Google user," I posted a review of a business on Google Maps. Yay!, I thought, this is great. But then, logged out of Google so I could see what others see, I clicked my name or picture--and it linked to everything I'd ever posted on Google-related sites. They all showed the fake name.

After changing back to my real name, I again checked my reviews--they all showed my real name, including the one I'd posted with the fake name. Ugh.

So if you're looking for a way to anonymously post one review--and I can see many reasons one might want to do that--and then change back to your real name, this isn't it.

PS I wonder what happened to/with @Tmadd59. I was enjoying interacting with him, and having another old geezer around here, and then he's just...gone...

I'm still using a Dinc4G because nobody makes phones this small and inexpensive anymore. I recently bought a second phone of the same model for backup purposes in case I lose my primary phone, and I'm trying to unlock it's bootloader.

I went through the process of unlocking/flashing/rooting years ago, but the methods I went through no longer seem to work. My ROM is 2.19.605.2, and apparently you can't downgrade the phone to 2.17.605.2 for the original unlock/CID method.

The custom package on rumrunner.us is supposed to be able to unlock and S-off the phone right out of the box, but every time I run it, I get an error that says, "FATAL: download updated package on rumrunner.us". I've tried this on both Windows 7 and Windows 10 (and have used the fastboot registry fix on Windows 10). I've tried various driver versions, Google drivers, disabling firewalls, and nothing seems to work.

I know my chances of getting any help with such an old phone are slim, but I'd be super grateful.

On the plus side, 99.9% of these queries we get are someone who has seen something vaguely heart-shaped on their SO's phone. So it was a pleasant change to get one of these that doesn't appear to be driven by insecurity or lack of trust in a relationship .
