Rooting And. 8GO and 11

Been attempting to root Android 8GO and 11. Tried using KingRoot via comp. KR wouldn't recognize either (?) Tried Magisk but it seemed like there was too many "addons" to apply before rooting(?) So, I want to root these 2 O.S's but guess I need some advice/guidance. Anyone wishing to help? BTW....why so many "warnings" about rooting?

Payload dumper

Hi all I'm trying to root my phone which was previously rooted and I'm having trouble with the payload dumper, this is the site I'm using to extract the boot.img

It keeps showing me an error code when I'm doing exactly as the site says and I don't know what else to do I can't continue with rooting it if I can't get the boot img. My phone is OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5g if that's of any help.
Any tips or help would be appreciated thank you

Help Trying to choose a smartwatch as a gift

My friend has always been a BIG fan of Pebble (discontinued in 2016) and was devastated when it got discontinued. If it matters, he owns a self-rooted Android phone bcos he likes to customise the tech he needs. He’s a software developer and has always been interested in tech (building stuff and breaking things to see how they work)

He’s not a fan of most smart watches because they are fitness-centric, and he does not want to see those apps at all (no surprise since he values customising). It’s important that the smartwatch has NFC for contactless payments.

I am a smartwatch-novice so any suggestions (with details) are much appreciated, thank you!

How can I transfer video made with phone to laptop??

Hello all, I have a strange issue here, and need some instructions....
I need to take a video of some problems I am having with my motorcycle and send them to the manufacturer for warranty reasons, but the only way I have to record a video of the mechanical failures is using my phone. I know how to record a video on the phone, and I know it is stored in Photos, but am unclear how I can transfer this to my laptop in order to send it to them.
You know what, nevermind I will just see if I can get them to send me a link through text to send it to them on the phone!!

Fold4 APRIL update

Samsung's 7th Android 13 update has started to roll out for the Fold4 international devices, F936B. bringing with it the April Security patch, bug fixes and improvements.

This is a newer build to the one already received on U.S. devices, CWC9 vs CWCC as expected.

Build number = F936BXXU2CWCC

Build date = 24 March 2023

Android Security patch = 01 April 2023

Download size = 1714.09MB

Camera version = 13.1.00.32

It is a FOTA, (Firmware Over The Air), update and you can check... Settings > Software update... to see if it is available for you. Alternatively, you can connect to the Samsung PC suite, Smart Switch and check via that.

Smart Switch didn't transfer WhatsApp messages to my new phone

As per header, I used Smart Switch to transfer files from my 7-year-old old S5 phone to my new S22. Contacts, audio, photos, video and SMS messages transferred okay and the WhatsApp app (among others) was transferred but not my old conversations.
I have a Smart Switch backup of the old phone on my desktop PC, although I did the actual transfer via wi-fi between the two phones. Is there any way to recover the old conversations?

Android devices blocking some (Adult?) websites

I have a number of Android devices at home accessing Internet via Wifi. I have been using them for years and in general it's all been working fine. However, from time to time one of my devices is unable to access a particular website saying:
This site can't be reached
However all my other devices happily continue to access the site, so it's definitely not a problem with my Wifi/internet access. Nor is it a problem with a particular browser as it occurs regardless of which browser I use. The websites that are failing on this one device seem to fit into the "Adult" category. So, for example, I've just tried accessing some of those kind of websites (eg Pornhub) and it fails for just one of my devices (a Samsung Tablet) but all my other devices load the site without any problem. However my Samsung tablet would previously happily display all similar websites. Yesterday this tablet informed me of a formal system update which I carried out and it completed the update without any apparent problems. However I started to notice that suddenly this apparent "Adult website block" seems to have come into play. I am an adult and, as far as I'm aware, I don't have any apps or set up any settings that place any restrictions on viewing any websites.
I don't use any apps that, as far as I'm aware, are designed to place restrictions of what websites I can view. My question is:
Does Android have any settings anywhere which place a restriction on viewing "Adult related" (or similar) websites which I can reset to remove restrictions so that I can view all websites available on the Internet?

Duplicate lock icon besides the default on the lock screen (Samsung phone, Android 12)

This happened about a few days ago, I was watching some videos and had to get up to get something, so locked the screen before going as is my habit, when I came back I had a notification which is why my screen was turned on the lock screen, but my attention went to a duplicate padlock icon on the left of the og lock icon which had a sort of protruding thingy next to it, like a landscape or something, something that would resemble a gallery icon in android, I clicked on it, nothing happened, clicked on it again and it disappeared. I turned on my phone to the home screen and saw that whatsapp was on besides the other apps, my whatsapp is locked with my fingerprint which also can be seen from the apps in memory, so I thought it must be a new UI thing from the whatsapp team, so I tried to emulate it but it did not happen again. Funnily, I never saw that lock icon again after that first incident. Nothing seems out of whack with my phone so I do not think it was malicious, but I am kind of concerned what could that anomaly of a duplicate lock icon be? , a bug perhaps?. I tried searching on google and samsung forums but found next to nothing. I am sorry I have given next to nothing, but this is about the only information I have. Hope somebody can shed a light on this mystery, as I am not going to lie its kind of bugging me since it happened.

Edit : Attaching the screenshot.

Can you disable the Recents button on the navigation bar for Android 13?

On my Galaxy S22 phone (running Android 13), when I tap the Recents button on the navigation bar, it shows "# active in background" at the top of the screen if I have # apps active in the background (assuming # > 0). If I then click on "# active in background", a window will pop up labeled "Check background activity", and I am able to force stop any of my apps that are running in the background from that screen. I use an "app blocker" app called AppLock Fingerprint (from the Google Play store, developer SpSoft), and I can easily force stop AppLock Fingerprint by doing this, which defeats the purpose of having it. Is there any way to disable the "# active in background" button, the "Check background activity" window, or the Recents button on the navigation bar itself?

Retro Games - Sega, Nes, PS1 and others

I suggest that we discuss here retro games from our childhood.
Are there many people here who had the legendary Sega, Nes, Snes, PS1 and many others. I had Sega Genesis and PlayStation 1 as well as Nes when I was a kid. Who had what consoles as a kid?
My favorite games on these wonderful platforms:
Battletoads (Nes).
Jim Worm 1, 2 (Sega)
Mortal Kombat 3 Ultimates (Sega)
On PS1, played a lot with a friend in Varant Story
Of course these are not all the games I've played. These are my favorites.
Does anyone play these consoles now?

Kind of same but with an issue

EZ Lynk 2.0 it is an tuner for my truck. it uses Wi-Fi to connect to AutoAgent on the phone

Phone is an Samsung S23 Ultra

When I connect to the EZ Lynk I don't have data/internet

Would you happen to know a setting that would fix this? And this in as Have a Wi-Fi device connected but phone uses Cell data to get to internet.

Spotify dies because of the lack of internet.

I love my Spotify but I cant run that and AutoAgent.
Because I connect to EZ Lynk through Wi-Fi.

The Phone I am assuming is trying to get to the internet through the Wi-Fi.

Just hoping you have come across this and have a fix.

Thanks
