Has anyone successfully activated an eSIM?

Ok, I have two phones. Both are personal phones. I pay for them out of my own finances. But, I consider one my personal phone and one for business. My personal phone is an AT&T Samsung S22. My business phone is a Verizon S20 FE phone. I have the two phones and I made sure that one was through AT&T and one through Verizon because I work from home. I am the breadwinner of this family. We don't have any high speed internet even avaialble to the house outside of 4g.

I've always said I need two ways to get online. If one fails, I always need a backup. Having unreliable internet is like having a job with an unreliable car. After so long of you not showing up because your car breaks down, they'll find someone else with a reliable car.

About 8 months ago, we moved from a house that had fiber to this house. We took a huge gamble. We needed a bigger house. We wanted land. So, I decided 4g would be good enough and, for the most part it has. I have a pretty nice 4g setup at home. I put a 4g antenna on a tv antenna pole above the roofline pointed at a local cell tower and ran that into the house. my wife is a cop so we get firstnet unlimited hotspot with no data caps at all. On the same pole, I also installed a 4G repeater to reamplify at&t cell signal in the house. So, it works out pretty well.

We use at&t 4g as our primary 4g connection because AT&T in our area works significantly better than verizon. But, verizon does work... just slower and less signal at our house. Driving around, verizon has a ton of dead spots.

But there has been multiple times where AT&T 4G was down in the area. One of the last times it went down, I jumped in my car and went to a verizon store and got a verizon phone so I had a second option when at&t was down. I've needed it a few times now.

Ok, for other reasons I don't want to go into on this thread, I cannot leave an unattended smart device in our house. My kids have done some really bad things. I have the smart devices under control in the house as long as I always carry this verizon phone on my person at all times. But, the phone is constantly falling out of my pocket. It's so annoying to carry two phones.

A few weeks ago, I called verizon and asked them how I can convert my verizon sim to an esim. I spent hours on the phone. transfer after transfer, no one could understand what I wanted. They kept wanting to port the number from verizon to at&t as a second line. I said to them... no. I don't want that. I'm told my samsung s22 ultra is not carrier specific. I want, when I make a call on the at&t phone that it uses at&t and the hotspot is at&t. But, if at&t is down, I want to switch to the esim and then the same phone I was just using with at&t becomes a verizon phone and makes calls using verizon towers and the hotspot is using verizon towers. So, if an at&t outage is happening, I'm not dead in the water. They just couldn't understand it. I was transferred and transferred... hungup on because they didn't know how to transfer... calling back transferred again. I spent like 5 hours on the phone. I finally talked to one person. It seemed like she knew what I was wanting.

When I go on the S22 phone and start the process of adding an esim, it wants me to scan a QR code. Even though the lady on the phone seemed to understand what I was wanting, she didn't know how to generate the QR code that my phone was wanting. After another hour or so working with her, I gave up.

But, I really would like to do this. Has anyone successfully used a SIM and eSIM on the same phone using two different carriers?

WHY?!?

It seems impossible.

I cannot connect the internet to anything but my phone.

I have not watched anything on a real television in years, other than an occasional DVD somewhere where someone still has one of those.

I recently got internet hooked up at my mother's house, and it is great.
Unfortunately, they offered some stupid Google TV crap that wants massive permissions and other grief to connect her phone to the TV.

Years ago I gave up trying to cast anything from my phones to any television, quickly realizing that I can just watch whatever I want on said phones already- thereby eliminating the endless headache, aggrevation, and inevitable disappointment when the connection fails.

She has a supposedly 'smart' TV, and I did get it connection the wi-fi, but it is so old (3+ years) that none of the apps will work without updating them, and the stupid 'smart' TV will not update any of them.

Endless hours of QR codes, entering the codes manually, downloading and installing more damn Google apps, and more have all been nothing but grief and problems.

Why in the hell can there not just be a way to cast directly from a device to another via a shared wi-fi connection?

Google has done everything possible to prevent this, that used to be both possible and simple!

Now I am pissed off once again (thanks a lot, Google, once again) and fighting with my mother.

I hate all of this crap.
Again and again Google has been more useless than a railroad spike in the center of a chair seat with the pointy end up.

Intermittent phone signal

My S5 has developed an internet connectivity and phone signal issue. I managed to fix the internet connection issue (knock on wood) by installing a "booster" app. However, my phone signal still fades in and out. One minute I'll have sufficient signal to make a call or send a text, and then a few minutes later I will have no signal at all (zero bars.) It does not matter where I am at. Whether I'm at home, or work, or driving, my phone signal is always intermittent.

Does anyone have suggestions on how I might be able to fix this?

Apps usbManager.getDeviceList() returns empty list after boot

I'm developing small android app using android studio and java. App have to write to serial port of connected Arduino. There is no issues with connection to device once otg cable plugged, but if I reboot the phone while cable is plugged app unable to establish connection. It turned that usbManager.getDeviceList() returns empty HashMap<String, UsbDevice>. If I re-plug cable app able to communicate.

My device is Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 it is unlocked and rooted. I'm attaching device information I've collected during my research.

This app is not gonna be published and going to run on this particular phone only.

6.0 to 7.0 worth keeping s6?

Would the s6 be any better of a phone updated to 7.0 or better off buying a newer android phone? I'm sure better off new if so what do you all recommend? My first android was the droid x, I've had s3 which I liked a lot better than the s6. I'll more than likely turn my s6 into a straight talk after I get WiFi tomorrow what phones do they have that uses Verizon towers? I think they have about the best service where I live or better off and or cheaper to stay with Verizon and just go prepaid?

How to stop from announcing time of day

I have the assistant turned off [I think] I don't use voice activation for anything. Somehow, occasionally, the device will decide to announce the time of day.
I use this device almost exclusively to play music for Zumba classes. Using the Samsung Music app.
It only happens when I have another instructor look through the playlist, pick a song, and start it - so I don't see if she may accidentally press one of the buttons or swipe something to trigger it. It never happens anywhere else.

I can't seem to find a setting to stop / disable this function, or even know what it might be called.

Any ideas?

Suggestions on a Windows USB login Key

I frequently have to log into multiple laptops either using my regular AD acct or my Administrator account and both passwords are long and the Administrator password changes every 30 days.

I was hoping someone could suggest a USB key that I could use to enter these credentials, change change when needed and use it to enter either my regular or Administrator credentials instead of me needing to type them in myself.

I don't need mult factor authentication, just the username and password for either my regular AD account or my Administrator account.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Unable to get DVI display from T450 in ThinkPad Pro Dock

Hi,

I have a Lenovo T450 type 20BX, with UEFI Bios ver 10.0.46 (2018/9/14) and a Think Pad Pro Dock type 40A1. It was used for Win, but I now have Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS.

I can get 3 monitors with the built in display, the VGA port and Display-port.

However, when I close the lid, only the VGA and the display-port video works from the dock and the DVI port, I can't seem to get working.

I've tried both A display-port to DVI cable and an HDMI to DVI cable, but can't get that 3rd monitor from the DVI port on the docking station for some reason.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Cell site erected on outside edge of Ursa, Il village- my home is in the fall zone in the village

I am new to this forum and need some help from everyone...
I just copied some info I have and posted here...
There is a 5G cellular tower constructed adjacent to my property in village of Ursa, Il.
I live on the edge of the village and the tower is technically outside the village limits.
There are no current ordinances in Adams Co. Il concerning this issue (they have never seen this).
The tower is 125' and the base of the tower is 107' from my home-
This makes my home in the fall zone of the cell tower.
The tower being a single pole makes it not a type of structure that will fall on itself during a collapse since there are no guy wires helping stabilize the structure or the fall if it happens.
My home is not eligible for some types of FHA loans
Who would want this property if I ever sell it with a structure so close?
My property is obviously worth less now; the assessor said they can’t compare this problem to anything because they have never had this issue. They have lowered my tax multiplier so saving some on my taxes; would be more if they had something to compare this to and see the outcome. Some sites say that my home could be worth 20% less with this behind my home.
RF radiation from close proximity to transmitter- possible health effects (nothing proven yet and few studies related to long term 5G because it is new).
Constant noise from site fans and wind blowing through the site.
I was not notified of any construction until a neighbor told me why they were prepping the land.
During construction, the tower construction company trespassed on property multiple times and caused damage to property (my culvert was the only access to my property for 1/4 mile).

The cellular company (per my requests to get me to settle down) added some trees, started mowing the site, added bird diverters (started noticing buzzards on top), and agreed to repair the culvert that was running uphill (but didn't do that- will need completely torn out and reworked. Water standing uphill from the culvert.
Since this was done, they have sent me a letter saying they have met my requests and they did everything legally.

Additional info/questions
site was installed where the field naturally drains- water runs over the site.
The home next to me was for sale- a family didn't move in because of the close proximity to the site.
Was I supposed to receive a certified letter before this happened?
Who is liable if the tower falls or an object falls off it and damages my property?
Lightning, ice, etc if causes damage or is a safety hazard- who’s liable if someone is hurt?

Any questions or suggestions would be appreciated. I know this is hurting me financially/ mentally and know I was not given notice for this structure.
Just the thought of the landowner and other parties involved really upsets me and no thought of who is affected by this.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is Tipping Getting Out Of Control?

I've seen a couple of news articles lately that ask, "Is Tipping Getting Out Of Control?"

I was ordering lunch online (pickup order) and i looked at my cart and said something is wrong. When I pulled the cart up it was auto adding a 18% pickup tip.

It just seems like a tip on a pickup order is too much.

Personally I don't like the concept of tipping in the first place.

Help US cellular on Verizon?

I hope I'm posting in the right place and or not asking a question that's already been answered but a coworker found a US cellular s7 with a broken screen on a shelf at food lion I think. Can it be activated on Verizon? I also worried about what if someone reported it stolen and they possibly get me for stealing it or am I just worried for nothing in that situation?

Use of Contacts Groups

In my contacts I have three Labels for contacts thus:
System Group (contains ALL GMAIL contacts)
Phonebook (people I have tagged to be included in my home phone book)
Home Phone Book (other I have tagged for home phone use)

When I select the phone icon, to make a call, and press contacts it lists the System Group.

How do I make it show ONLY the Phonebook people?

Phone runs on Android 11

Help Bluetooth remote shutter for U11

Dear All,
I'm a new member here.
My problem is the following:
I badly need a bluetooth remote shutter that REALY WORKS with the camera of my U11.
When I push the button on any of the two remote devices I own in order to take a photo, the CAMERA IS ZOOMING IN, but nothing else happens.
I tested the bletooth devices with more than twenty people's (family members, friends etc.) Android phones (many brands, but none of them was HTC) and all of them worked fine.
Is there a dedicated remote for the HTC U11?
I wouldn' like to switch to another phone because apart from this problem it's OK and the camera is excellent, way better than most of the other phone's.
Thanks for your help in advance.
