storage settings question

first I was WRONG when I posted previously (apologies to everyone who helped me!) my current phone is a SAMSUNG Galaxy A10e|A20.

I did manage, rather easily in fact, to install a 32GB SD card. thanks for everyone's help in that!

question: I am still getting notification from certain programs, including WHATSAPP, that I am out of space. The hard drive is filled, yes, but the SD card is almost completely empty.

is there any way to "tell" these apps to make use of the SD capacity? not sure exactly if and how this can be done.

thanks as always for any feedback!

Required default - UGG!!

A change was made, sometime in the past week or so, such that the default Phone app (on my Google Pixel 3XL running Android 10) must be the default phone app to be opened. What effing moron made this totally moronic change???

I use True Phone as my default phone app, but use the default phone app to listen to voicemails. This change is beyond annoying - I have to first make Phone the default app, listen to my message, then make True Phone the default again.

Any suggestions as to how I can listen to voicemails without having to deal with this nonsense each time?

Yet another "Emergency Alert" posting:

Objective: to disable emergency alerts on: Galaxy A1 under Spectrum; purchased 01/2021.

I have perused the various informative web pages to no avail; it's well obfuscated.

The way I did it was via the "Messages" app (the one that comes stock.) From there, I assert the vertical ellipsis to the right of "search" to activate the menu... I see "Emergency alert settings". I open that and see an option for "Emergency alerts".

Under that option I find the ability to shut off individual alerts.

They *look* like they're off; we'll see.

Help Would like to what could possibly be wrong based on my phone behavior described within

Of late, when my MOTOROLA G5S+ phone drops to around 80% (from a full charge) an outward call or video viewing will cause it to trip and reboot without notice. When I turn the phone back on the charge has dropped straightway to 69 %. This will happen again at circa 40% and the charge dead drops to 28% or so. From 10% to 0% charge this does not occur al all
It also does not happen at any charge level when the phone is plugged in and used

What may be causing these sudden dead drops?
I have tried calibrating the battery twice (issue does not go away) and have scanned for possible rootkits and virus too (none are there)

May i have your educated guesses as to what this is pinpointing to?

Question on RecyclerView and passing images

Hello,
I've spent the last nearly a month searching for a proper tutorial that's up-to-date. I am searching for a tutorial that gives the following. This might evolve into something like what private colleges / university students are taught :
1 detailed explanation of every component if an internet link doesn't provide one.
2 a few components (meaning java files and .xml layout files) as possible but keep tutorial comprehensive with good explanation.
3 Covers the basics and if possible advanced areas so complex apps can be written.
4 Shows both how to send images from within android studio (meaning R.drawable.images) to an activity.

My ultimate goal is to write a very basic ecommerce app that can show the images I specify and just send them to the next page (activity). I suceeded by changing a project so that the receiving page gets the same image for multiple entries but the sending side still cannot display the image. I'm unsure how to continue. To worsen the case, many other examples / guides from github / tutorials found are outdated. At most, they show only a basic toast message, something that an elementary google search in android studio can easily find and show. I came across all kinds of error messages and I have to make a google search to update it, hoping for something useful. So far, none have shown to be really useful and not all outdated projects can be updated. I was forced to manually create some of them.

I have found 2 tutorials but they obtain the images from internet links or from the local phone gallery. That's not what I want. You may check :

I would appreciate any information anyone has. I hope someone knows something.

Help Can't users in Mauritania download paid or free apps available on the Google Play Store?

A friend in Mauritania told me that he could find and view details of my paid app on Google Play while he failed to download the app at all. He kept on getting "This item isn't available in your countrty" error.

Then, I opened the Google Play Console, selected my paid app, and then went to 'Release - Production'. In the 'Countries / regions' tab, I clicked 'Add countries / regions'. But the alert message was 'No countries / regions to add'.

To my surprise, there isn't 'Mauritania' in the list of 'all countries / regions(177)' at all!

What's wrong?! I wonder why Mauritania is not in the list of 'all countries / regions(177)'.

Can't users in Mauritania download paid or free apps available on the Google Play Store?

Help Why does my Pixel 3A go online when I don't want it to?

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are able to help me with this. I tried several different forums but still can't get an answer. Long story short, why does my Pixel 3A continue to go online when I don't want it to?

When I'm at home, the phone is always using my WIFI. I don't want to use any mobile data unless for emergencies when I'm away from home.

My "Mobile data" setting is turned off. In Developer settings, the "Mobile data always active" setting is turned off.

So before I leave my house, I always turn my Wifi off. Then I try to access the internet and I get the message "No internet Connection". So I'm happy. I drive around thinking my Mobile Data is not being used.

Problem is, there are times when I'm out and I look at my phone and I see the message "Back Online" and the phone has used up a chunk of my Mobile Data allotment. I'm on a plan where I don't have much data usage to begin with.

I don't know why this is happening. I don't know of any other options that need to be OFF so that Mobile Data does not automatically kick in.

As well, there are times when I leave my home and I turn Wifi off. Then I'm driving around and I still have an internet connection but it's using my Mobile Data instead.

Really hoping that someone can help me out. I'm posting on this forum that's specific to the Pixel 3A so that maybe others have experienced the same thing.

Thanks for your help.

Help Spaced/overlapping text font in Google apps

Hello,
It's been like 3 weeks since I started seeing weird font problems that only appeared in Google apps, basically the text is either spaced where there's a huge white space between the first letter and the rest of the word, or overlapping where the words appear on top of each other, I also noticed that in Google chrome and google feed page it only happens to the titles of the search results, as for the rest of the apps it happens to random text. I'll include some screenshots for better visualization. Around the time this started I vaguely remember doing some system update and some Google apps updates. I'd very much appreciate any help in resolving this issue. Thank you.

Audio console, virtual mixer with reverb for live stream

Hi guys! I am looking for a way to use an audio console, or a sound mixer app, either, with reverb effect, to be able to do some live stream performances, I mean, online. I am a musician, but of the no resources one. I have invented a way to use headset mics for my voice and another instrument, but it hears dry, very dry. Please, some one there can help me? I have just just my phone.

Can you use Virtual numbers on DoorDash/UberEats For the purpose explained in the post?

Can a virtual number that works be linked with Uber drivers'/ delivers' accounts. You need a phone number linked to it for both verification purposes and for when you need to call or text a customer: through the Uber drivers' app you click the text/ call button and then it uses your phone to call/ text. The customer doesn't see your number, but you still use your number for it. I have tried Google Voice and Text Now but they don't work for this. The reason I want this is because I would like my girlfriend to be able to use my deliver's account sometimes, so if we used a virtual number she could have access to it too. Is this possible? Help Galaxy J5 Prime incoming WhatsApp Voice Notes Recovery

Yesterday two voice messages (I think they are called voice notes in WhatsApp) were received. Unfortunately the new 'potential' contact was blocked. This seems to have resulted in these messages being deleted at the same time. I did open (download) and hear them.

I have done the following:

(1) Went to Internal Storage > WhatsApp > Media > WhatsApp Voice Notes on the phone. There appear to be none of these deleted voice notes here. The files here are '.opus' ones.

(2) Tried some apps like Dr.Fone and EaseUS Mobi Saver for Android. I selected USB Debugging from Developer Options but these apps ask me for root access. I have no trusted software for this. In any case I suspect both these apps will ask me for payment to recover data so I am not proceeding with this course of action.

(3) There are some youtube videos for this problem but not all are in English! I think the basic line of action is to delete all the data and recover it again. I have no confidence in this course of action.

Once again it is my intention to recover only the what I believe to be deleted voice messages (WhatsApp Voice Notes) from what had been a blocked number using WhatsApp yesterday.

I have no 'Chat backup' set in WhatsApp...

I have also just downloaded Opus Player from Google Play and it does not automatically find these voice messages although it finds others - both incoming and outgoing.

This phone has been upgraded to Android 8.0.0.

Any ideas?

Sound detection library for android without using mic

I am creating an android application that plays a beep sound whenever it detects a pre-defined sound. In another way, I have three drum/piano/vocal sequence mp3 file with me which is stored along with the apk assets. After installation, the three files moved to the internal memory. Whenever I play any audio/video in any of the video/audio player(eg:youtube/vlc) on my mobile, if the music sequence of the playing audio matches any of the already stored three mp3 files, Then a beep sound should produce. This is my aim. But I am hard to find such a library to compare music that is playing inside the mobile with another app. Google assistant and Shazam app just listen to audio from the mic and compare the audio. But in my case, I need to compare audio which is the playing device itself.

Note: The app will be running 24X7 by listening to the sounds played on the device. This application is not intended to build an unethical product. This is used for industrial purposes.

If somebody needs more clarification, I will update the question

is quad-core enough in 2021

I My current device is rocking a mediatek mt6737 and feels a bit sluggish. My current carrier is custom rom friendly but frankly the roms available for this device are all missing one thing or another for daily driver use, either bluetooth not working correctly or MMS, so I am stuck with stock for this device (android 7.1). I have been perusing other devices and the budget market has a metric ton of options for rom-friendly phones and that is great. I see alot of the newer devices have octo-core cpus and I am just wondering this is a "trend" or if newer android version and custom roms are in need of this extra horsepower. What are the tradeoffs? Battery life seems an obvious place to look, but I expect optimizations have been made. Are there other tradeoffs/gotchas to look at for modern/octo-core devices?

Comparing Samsung A42 to Samsung S21

I am looking at upgrading to a premium Samsung S21, and the Verizon rep happened to mention the entry level A42. Verizon is telling me the A42 has a list of $399 and they will give me a $300 credit, so effectively I would buy the phone for $99!! That got me looking and the specs on the A42 are not horrible. It is 720P instead of 1080P on the screen width, which probably I can live with for the $900 difference in my cost. Does anyone here have experience with both phones, and what are the important differences? I do not use the phone for gaming so processor speed is not a major factor for me.

Here are the camera differences between the two phones. A42 is the middle column and S21 is the right column. A42 is quad camera, but cameras two and three look weak. The primary camera is a 48 megapixel so definitely that is a serious product. But how well do they process colors and shadows? The camera is very important to me, and taking a very high quality image that handles high contrast mid-day light well is also important. I want shadow detail in high contrast images.

I am thinking to buy the A42, live with it until an S21 or S22 goes on sale at the right price, and then at that point I will use the A42 as an extra device just connected by WiFi. Is the S21 worth holding out for?

Help Charger That Quits When Battery Is Charged

OK, so I have an S7, but it's only about 2 years old.

The battery is discharging faster and faster, so I'm pretty sure it's time for a replacement.

I use a wireless USB charging cradle. Sometimes I've left the phone on there after the charge had reached 100%. I'm sure that's had something to do with the battery failing.

Is there a "smart" USB wireless cradle charger, or is that a feature only available in newer phones?

Two dates displayed on bootup

I've been having a number of problems with Android phones since a bout of hacking three years ago. My current phone is exhibiting yet another strange behavior, in that on bootup it shows two different dates, an incorrect one flashing briefly followed by the correct date. Does anyone have any idea what might cause this? I don't use these types of forums often, so thanks to any kind soul who might offer input.
