How to mute (but not block) calls from unknown numbers

I have a Galaxy A03s.

I don't answer calls from unknown numbers. I know how to block calls, but I limit that function to calls from unknown numbers that call more than once without leaving a voicemail message.

What I'd like to do in the case of all other unknown callers is simply mute them automatically. I figure that if a caller is legitimate, he'll leave a message and I can then call back. If the caller doesn't leave a message, then I'm content to consider the call unimportant. (I don't want to "block" all unknown numbers, because my understanding is that that stops such calls from coming through altogether, so the callers can't leave voicemail messages.)

But I can't find an automatic mute setting on my phone, and Googling the issue keeps turning up instructions on how to block calls, and not how to mute or silence them. The one site that I found that did talk about "silencing" instead of blocking calls directed me to a setting that I don't have on my phone -- it said to open the phone app and go to Settings | Call | Call Rejection, but I don't have a "Call" option in my phone settings.

Is it possible to automatically mute unknown callers? If so, how is it done?

Thanks.

Rooting and access data

Hi!

First of all sorry for my bad English. I'm leaning yet.

I have an Android device (MediaTek MT8163, Android 6.0.1) and there are data of application (DB). This user data can be read only under root user.
I decided rooting the device for access and have few questions:
1. Does the rooting erase all user data?
2. How can make a backup of user data including that data which are readable under a root user?
3. Can I access to this data without rooting the device? For example, on PC with Android emulator?
4. How to make a full backup of the device? For example, some image
5. How to restore backup if something wrong happens?

Thanks.

Alight motion is not working Oppo Reno 6?

Hello Everyone! I'm a video editor and I use to edit videos on my cellphone Oppo Reno 6 using Alight Motion. Right now I'm facing problem while rendering and working on a bigger project. While working on a bigger project, mobile phone got hanged and not respond until restart. when it comes to rendering, mobile phone shut down while rendering a final project. Why are there no 'well known' brand name smart light switches?

You can buy plenty of 'smart' light bulbs.

I have rooms where I've got 14 light bulbs in the ceiling.
This would be stoopidly expensive to get 'smart light bulbs' for each room.

No problem.
Get a 'smart light switch'?

PROBLEM: these don't exist.
They do exist... but not in ANY well known brand names.

Why is that??

The conspiracy theorist inside of me tell me it's far more profitable to make smart lightbulbs that need replacing every 2 years - so they don't make the switches smart - which might only get changed every 2 years.

Search Amazon and you'll find PLENTY of Chinese brands. Hmm... I don't want to risk getting something that might blow a fuse and spark a few surges.

How to get rid of Google Assistant reading out notifications??

A few days ago, my dumb phone started speaking out notifications.
When I got a message on Whatsapp, it would say xyz has sent a message.
Specifically: "When you hear a notification chime you can press and hold the action button to hear the notification".

I never turned this on.

I've searched the internet high and low and can't find an answer.
I then listened to the words of the message - as quoted above and searched.
So it turns out to be the dumb Google Assistant.
I still can't find any instructions to turn off.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S10+.

I've found instructions previously where some kind person shows all menus to get to a setting to turn off voice prompts notification.
PROBLEM: I don't have the same menu.

I'll miss one notification and not press the 'action' button.
Then it will repeatedly for each subsequent message say: as you have decided not to respond, I'll play this sound - it will KEEP playing this message for every new message.

This is the MOST annoying thing ever
How and why did it get turned on??
How do I turn it off???
I've been through loads of settings - can't find.
I've tried to find Google Assistant settings - can't find.

What gives?

LPA managing application

Hi,

I'm currently trying to develop an android application to manage eSIM profiles including functions to download, enable, disable, delete profile. However at the current stage, I'm unable to even hit the LPA code while attempting to download the profile from a hardcoded LPA string within the code.
My download profile code for reference:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
euiccManager.downloadSubscription(
downloadableSubscription,
true,
callbackIntent
)

//where downloadableSubscription:

private lateinit var downloadableSubscription: DownloadableSubscription //from.....import android.telephony.euicc.DownloadableSubscription
downloadableSubscription = DownloadableSubscription.forActivationCode("String_value_of_the_activation_code")
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm sure the function is being executed since I've defined 2 toast prints before and after the function and they are showing up fine on the device.

API:33
Phone: Google Pixel 4
APK is a signed release using self-signed certificate (this self signed certificate's hashvalue is also being configured on the metadata of the Profile I'm trying to download, so I'm wondering this shouldn't be a problem during the signature match check)
Also for some context I work in a company that deals in such subscription service management, and I'm testing the possibility of developing an inhouse app to work-around the profiles.

Is "generative AI" incompatible with AF rules?

All of these "AI" systems that are in the news now, whether they generate speech of visual images or whatever, have been trained by web-scraping, and we can be pretty certain that this has been done without regard to consent or copyright (e.g. some of the image generators can be prompted to reproduce copyrighted images in some detail without detailed descriptions, even in some cases including the copyright holder's watermarks, which is something of a giveaway). Lawsuits have started to emerge, and probably there would be a lot more but for the secrecy about what's in the training samples.

In light of this I was wondering: the forum rules here do not allow linking or support for pirated material, and it's clear that many (I suspect all) of these systems have been based on some degree of data piracy or non-consensual appropriation. So strictly speaking, might linking to them or posting their output be a contravention of the forum rules? ;)

I put a wink there because in the context of this forum I don't think this is a major issue. But in a broader context I'm less sanguine.

Oem unlock in build prop

If I have a u.s samsung that doesn't allow
Bootloader unlocking
But I looked inside the build.prop
And it has the line of ro. Oem unlocking =1
The 1 means it's allowed right ? So
In theory if that is already set
All I need is to have the developer options show me the oem unlocking tick right
With that said could I just replace the sec settings.apk with another from another country and put in mine as long as it's android 13 and from samsung
Put it inside the firmware
Flash the firmware through odin
I shouldn't get an error because it's all stock and signed by samsung then I should be able to get it back in developer options
But I also think I read something that stated that developer options ( oem unlocking ) has to be enabled from the bools.xml file inside the decompiled framework-res.apk
Am I crazy or does this sound like it would work ???? Please help

How To View a Call Log File from an Android Phone?

I restored my call log with Samsung Smart Switch, restarted the phone. But there is nothing added to the call log! Im using the same default phone app as my old phone. And the app says 2,500 call logs were restored/added.

So my next idea is to open the call log file from the backup on my computer and restore with an app manually, its a EXML file, wont open in browsers or excel or notepadd ++, its a bunch of random characters.

1) How do I access the contents of the call log EXML file from Samsung Smart Switch?
2) Or, any idea why my call logs wont restore on my phone?

Help Duckduckgo freezes up when I try to access location

Not sure if the android update (Android 13) in my Samsung S20fe was the reason I can't access location when I do a search in the Duckduckgo as I never has this problem 1.5 months ago. When I do, the page just freezes up and I can't move the page to fix the issue. (see attached files) I've already uninstalled/reinstalled DDG and lost my bookmarks along the way...:maddroid: The app settings won't allow me to allow it all the time. 😒 Any suggestions? Much appreciated!

Apps Star Wars initial credits style Android Studio / Java

Hi all!

I've asked this very same in other forums but I had not luck. I want to create a TextView, TextField or similar with an effect in title mentioned.
I am newbie programmer so this is being hard to me. I saw libraries such as CreditsRoll but are all so old and deprecated. I've tried "translating" codes with that effect made in C#, Kotlin, iOS or other languages but I couldn't neither (and of those, I only know C#). This effect is for an Android game that I made and trying to improve. It's a simple Simon Says inspired in Star Wars., the scoreboard now it's a simple from down-up scroll and I'd wish apply that effect. If you want to see the whole project or a part of it I'll share pleasantly. All help will be much appreciated.
