Help After hard resetting my phone I can’t go thru the Android initial settings.

Hi,
On my wife’s phone, an HTC U11, I wanted to perform a hard reset. The process went thru fine but the initial Android settings fails. A message saying "Android Settings stopped" appears, closing or disabling the app didn’t help. I uploaded a video here: IMG_3921.MOV

Any idea ?

what phone do you have? when did this start happening? was this after an update? or just happened randomly?
Ooo
Whenever I try and access the Settings app it won't open and briefly flashes a message "Settings has stopped". I've tried to find away of deleting the data/cache for it as I've seen that has helped some people with the same issue, but all the apps I try and use to do so require access which is given via the settings.

I've tried the obvious in restarting my phone which did nothing, and I'm trying to avoid doing a hard reset.
Can anyone help?

Thanks.
How strange: the same happened to my wife’s phone. On the top of this the back camera stopped. I tried a hard reset but now I can’t complete the Android Settings process

Help I did a factory restart to my F21 and it has been stuck on a strange icon screen for two days, what should I do?

So I have an F21 that I had to reset to factory settings, but for some reason it's been stuck on this screen for two days, I think its operating system was deleted or something, but I can't try to fix it because it's impossible to access the files (even via PC).

The model of the phone is F21, but it is actually a kind of MP4 player device that runs on Android.

Archived KeyBank App

Anyone know where I can get an archived version of the KeyBank banking app? The new app won't fun on my device because the OS is old but it used to work fine until this last update. I want to see if the previous version might still work for me. I can't afford a newer phone so what I have is what I have.

Android studio emulator vulkan error

Hello guys
I'm sorry for my bad english, i'm french.
I'm coding on Android Studio, with an emulator that is on Android 11. Since i'm building my app (3-4 months), i never had problems with it. But recently, when i start my emulator, it works but Android Studio can't connect the device with my code, and it send me an error message :

I've tried a lot of things : update Android Studio, change android version of my emulator, add additional commands on the run configurations, create another emulator.. but nothing works.
I'm neary to cry on my pc ;-; i'm on it since 3 hours

Smart Switch issues

I've received a replacement S22 Ultra from Verizon and attempted to use Smart Switch to get everything transferred to the new device but I'm having issues.
I'm at the "Get connected" screen on both devices and both are connected to the same WiFi network yet my old device continues to show the "Check WiFi network. Make sure that both devices are connected to the same WiFi network, then try again" message. I click on "Connect" button and it seems to attempt to connect to the new device but eventually goes back to the same message. I can't get past this point.

Neither device is rooted and I have not yet moved the sim card from the old device into the new one because I believe this is done after transferring the data, correct?

Glasses... a love hate relationship

I've worn glasses for over fifty years. I have never liked wearing them but it is very nice to see. I have a bifocal prescription and for years they have been no line or progressive lenses. Up until my last checkup and new prescription, I wore glass glasses. In this new age, my prescription is no longer available in glass and are made of a plastic of some sort. Albeit, they are light weight and do their job just fine.... UNTIL, you mar or scratch the magic coating that's on the lens. I hadn't owned my present pair of glasses a month before I either caught a tree branch while mowing or something abrasive that left one eye trying to see through a worthless marred corrective lens. I took my prescription online and bought two more pair at a substantial savings and have taken great care not to harm the coatings but I now have three pairs of glasses that are worthless. I want glass glasses! I need glass glasses! (end of rant) I'm way beyond the time my optometrist wanted to see me again, so I finally broke down and called to schedule an appointment. It seems the vision in my left eye has significantly changed. It's time to part with big bucks and get a current correction for my vision.

Do you like and dislike wearing glasses? Are you gentle enough with your glasses to enjoy the non glass glasses? How often do you see your optometrist? Are you a fan of photochromic lenses that darken in sunlight? Do you enjoy making a fashion statement with your glasses or are they a utility item for you? I'd like to hear your wearing glasses journey. I hope I'm not the only one that love and hate them.

Run the UFC app on Android 12 in full screen (landscape)

Hi everyone,
Another day I found an Android 5 box (with the remote and power source) in an electronic garbage and I decided to take it home to give it a try.
That is an amazing device, but that one has 2 problems: it's pretty slow and most apps crash sometimes, so I might need to open an app 2 times to use it.
I was using it to watch the UFC because I'm a subscriber of the UFC Fight Pass and they have a proper app for us to watch the events.
It works flawlessly.
When I open the app it runs in full screen just like everything else on this box, so everything plays like TV.
I liked that so much that I decided to invest in a more up-to-date version from the this kind of box and bought a similar one running Android 12.
That works perfectly, because it's fast and never crashes.
However, when I run the UFC Fight Pass app opens in portrait mode (similar to a phone).
Then, if I want to see the event, the video itself shows really small in the center of the screen.
I tried researching for a way to force that app to run in full screen, like it runs on my Android 5 box, but haven't found a way that works yet.
There are several apps that are supposed to force the screen to be landscape and full screen but none of the ones I tested worked.
Is there any hope for me? ;)
Thanks,
Fred

Amazon Music screwed up downloads on Android 13/One UI 5

Today, I wanted to download some songs to re-create the 'nature rock' playlist that I use for my Saturday hikes in the woods. I had just gotten a Samsung A03s to replace a dying Samsung Galaxy S5, and so far love the new phone (first for me) but it had one major issue that caught me off guard.

First, Amazon Music downloaded the songs I wanted, but Samsung Music (preferred music player) couldn't see anything but the Over The Horizon song it comes with. I tried rebooting the phone, rescanning, and attempting to browse via My files to no avail. I also tried many other file manager apps (even my old standby, a spare APK of ES File Explorer 3.x from Android 2.3) but no dice. Apparently, Amazon changed the location of downloaded files, even including purchased MP3s. It took me a long time (try two hours) of messing around and then viewing random Reddit posts but they did something to Android 13 to really screw with my sanity.

Apparently, Amazon Music no longer saves under the 'com.amazonmp3' folder like it did since, like, 2011? It has changed to the 'Android/Data/com.amazon.mp3/purchased' folder, but as of Android 13, that folder is no longer viewable (Why Google?!). So the only 'official method' is to use Amazon Music to play the downloaded songs. Their app would work for that I figured, so since that 'Nature Rock' playlist is indeed backed up to Amazon cloud, it shows up in the app. I had downloaded it ahead of time planning on playing it today. Unfortunately, while when I downloaded it, it had 50 songs, today, when I chose to play it, it only had 7. Literally more than 3/4 my songs are gone. Trying to look at all the purchased songs, a good 50% now show up only accessible via 'Amazon Music Unlimited'.

Oh, hell no! No way. I cleared data from the app (we're on hour 3 now, I planned my hike at 10, now it's 1) and re-logged in. Now all my songs show up, even all the 50 in that playlist, only now I no longer trust the app to work when I expect it to, like say, next week, will it go back to 7 again? I need to find out how to get them to show up under Samsung Music. I own the damned songs, they're MP3s, they obviously downloaded since they take up space, but only Amazon can see them (until it 'forgets again')

I don't know what Android 13 borked, but I was able to use an app called 'FV File Explorer' that can see and copy from /Android/Data/* so I was able to use it to copy the music to the Music folder on my SD Card, and rebooting, now Samsung Music sees all of it. I recreated the playlist in Samsung Music, and after 5 literal hours of hair-pulling frustration, it's back to where it was on my S5. But this is exactly why I despise modern tech, modern software. It can make the simple act of playing offline, purchased MP3s a royal, headache inducing pain in the empennage. I don't know why they keep trying to fix what ain't broken. So far this is the only major issue with my new phone, and hopefully the last. It otherwise works fine despite it being low-end. I still have to plug in the Type-C cable in twice before it recognizes the charger, but that's a Type-C bug that will likely never get fixed (much like how loose it feels, not like the far more secure 'click' I got from Micro USB)

[Free][App] I made an app to plan Weekly Runs

TLDR: Weekly Runs

Hello there,

When I started training for the first marathon in my life, I download a 6 months training plan, printed it, pinned it to my fridge, and started circling each completed training day.

Sadly, I would often get injured during my runs, which would lead to days or weeks without running, and a lot of changes to the plan I had printed.

All running apps that I tried either forced me to follow their plan from the start (which I didn’t want to do because I was already in the middle of training) or made it extremely slow and difficult to add a custom plan.

So I decided to create my own app, that would allow me not only to quickly import the training plan I was following but also to easily adapt it to real-life events.

I called it “Weekly Runs”.

The app makes it easy to enter a new training plan, by cloning existing weeks and making only necessary adjustments. More importantly, the app allows to insert non-running and recovery weeks after an injury, into the existing training plan.

I also noticed that I would often forget to perform some of the warm-up exercises I planned to do before every run. This is why I added a custom checklist of pre-run activities, that must be checked before starting each run.

I hope this app will be as useful to you, as it was to me.

I’d appreciate any feedback on the app. Please let me know of any changes or additional features that you would like to see in the app.

Android App Integration with WordPress Website

Hi everyone, I am currently working on an Android app project and I am looking for some advice on integrating it with a WordPress website. Specifically, I am wondering what tools or plugins are available to make this process as seamless as possible. Has anyone had experience with this before? Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!😊

Help! Google Message App Issues on Android Phone

I have a Moto G Power TracFone running Andriod version 11. I have been using Google Messages for texting on this for a few years, without any issues.

All of sudden, I started having problems yesterday. I have an icon/shortcut for Google Messages in the shortcuts found at the bottom of my screen (so they are always present even when you side swipe to other pages). I have been using this for years. Now, when I click on the App Icon, I get a message that says "App isn't installed", and I cannot use it. The really weird thing is, if I go to Settings, go to the Apps, and pull up the Google Messages app from the listing and click on "Open", it opens just fine and I am able to use it! So it obviously is still installed!

This is a very inconvenient way to get to Google Messages. I really do not want to have to go to Setting, Apps, etc every time I want to send a text! I want to repair or rebuild this shortcut, but cannot find how to do that.

Here are some things I have tried, with no luck so far:
- made sure there is enough memory on my room (I am not close to running out of room)
- restarted the fun
- pulled it up under Settings --> Apps and uninstalled updates
- went to Google Play store and reinstalled Google Messages app

None of these fixed the issue. The only thing it seemed to do is change the font size of my text messages.
Can anyone help?

Thanks

  • Question Question
Lockscreen pop up picture (solved)

So I have an odd random (same) image that appears for a brief second every twenty to fifty unlocks on my lockscreen. This image doesn't exist anywhere in my phone, contacts, picture gallery, videos etc., except every so often on my lockscreen...for a second as a full screen pop up, then it disappears and the phone unlocks as normal. One forum said it was the "always on display/clock" in the settings, this is not the fix. After months of trying to get a screenshot of this elusive image, was able to get one (attached). Any ideas on how to locate and fix where this is coming from? Thanks for the help!

Limit (but not stop) an app's background usage?

Galaxy S22, Not rooted.

hi. I have an app that runs in the background on BLE, and requires about 5 hours a day in order to be effective. If I let it run constantly it drains my battery hard. Is there a way or an app that will let me limit the amount of background usage for the app without just denying it? Much appreciated! In case you're wondering, the app monitors my pacemaker. Thanks fir ideas or solutions!

Help Looking for data recovery experts (android 12 phone) professionals for a paid consultancy opportunity

Hello all,

I accidentally got my photos erased from my samsung phone running android 12. The case is complex and most people tell me it's not possible to recover the data. While I definitely don't want to be fed false hope or placebo data recovery solutions, the erased photos mean a lot to me, and I would like a confirmation from a reputed DATA RECOVERY EXPERT that given my set of circumstances it's indeed hopeless, before I let go of this. So far I only have opinions of a few local tech people and a couple of forum members that it's impossible.

Anyone with a track record and expertise specifically in data recovery on android 12 / top-range samsung phones can help?

I am willing to pay consultancy fees in advance and also a bonus in case of successful data recovery.

Thanks!

Logisity is a new Android Game I wrote.

Logisity is my first Android app. It's FREE with ads and the ads are not excessive. You can find it on the Play Store. I would love to get some feedback on it. I'm sort of a hermit and the few peeps I have are not too interested in games and they didn't even bother to help me test it so I joined this forum to get the word out. I wrote the game in HTML Javascript and CSS. I would like to know how it renders on different devices.

It's a logic game. You can play it at your own pace and always pick up where you left off.

A random number is generated and the player guesses at it. After a guess the player get's a clue telling them how many digits they got right and how many are in the right place. There are 3 levels (3, 4, or 5) that you can choose to play and the level corresponds to the number of digits in the secret number.

What makes this game unique is the position chart and the format menu. You use the formats on the clues to highlight, or black out the numbers and positions based on the clues. There are format counters that help you know if you've use the correct amount of specific digits and positions from any of your previous guesses.

I've included a comprehensive help section that can be accessed by clicking the ellipses (...) in the top right corner of the game screen.

Thank you in advance for your advice and feedback.

Unable to start up x86_64 phone emulator in Android Studio on a Mac

Trying to start up a x86_64 based phone via the Android Studio Emulator, but it freezes at the white screen showing "Google". Here are the particulars:

1. Intel Core i7 chipset on the Mac
2. Android emulator uses API level 33
3. system image is from system-images/android-33/google-apis/x86_64

In Android Studio, when I hit the "run app" icon, as mentioned, it tries to start up the emulated phone, but freezes up.

I have tried --
1) installing intel-haxm driver via Mac "brew"
2) in Android Studio: "wipe data" on the emulator, then "cold boot" of the emulator but same problem.
3) tried at the command line: "emulator -avd Pixel_XL_API_33_x86_64", but again freezes at white screen.

A small portion of the (adb) logcat (excuse the ctrl-M's) shows:

Of note to me in this log portion--

(1) I do not see /system/bin/surfaceflinger on my Mac
(2) Abort message: 'Unable to generate SkImage. isTextureValid:1 dataspace:513' - this sounds important. Is it?

Pls let me know how one can get around this issue of the emulated phone freezing up.

And definitely, if I am asking on the wrong forum, pls let me know and I will direct this question elsewhere. Thx.
