Some questions about Instagram

Does anyone know if I DO NOT follow someone and I DO NOT give "likes" to her post, but I have logged in and kept visiting his/her pages almost every day by searching her ID, without any action. In that case, would the system suggest me to her account in any way?

I found the instagram of a girl I love by some special means and I know her in reality but we don't have any internet or other networking connection or friends in common so I should never be shown to her mobile/internet/computer area. I do not want my account/profile to be possibly suggested or recommended to her. In that case, she may think that I have had intentionally searched for her which is certainly what I am worried about.

I do not want to log off and log in an empty account every time. It is so troublesome.

Help How can I increase the Phone or video screen timeout beyond 10 minutes with my Galaxy S23 Ultra?

How can I increase the 'Phone' or Video screen timeout beyond 10 minutes with my Galaxy S23 Ultra?
I like to shoot birds with my video, especially hummingbirds using a tripod with a remote so I'm not close to the feeder. The hummer comes in every 20-30 minutes and the video shuts down after five minutes or so and returns to the home screen. That will shut off after 10 minutes. I think the video itself shut off If I don't use it for five minutes. Is there a way around that?

Bottom line, while shooting video or camera photos on tripod, I'd like the screen or video NOT TO SHUT OFF.

I know in developers options you can click "Stay Awake" but that's apparently only if your charging?
Another one is it will stay on if your looking at the screen, well I can't as the tripod/phone is a few feet away.
This defeats the purpose of the tirpod.

Looking For Recommendation For Backup Software

I would appreciate recommendation for backup software for LG phone, primarily for Contacts. I would like to back it up to my computer, and then be able to restore (and/or transfer to new phone) as need be. There's a few backup/restores out there - I would appreciate any suggestions from experience as to which one(s) to use. (I also have a Samsung galaxy - i expect the software would work well with that phone, as well.)

no magnifier working after UI updated to 14 (Redmi Note Pro 10)

I used the magnifier icon on Redmi Note Pro 10 (UI 13) for a year.

just clicked the little icon at the bottom of the screen and you could move the little square anywhere on the display.

Now after the UI 14 update.. the icon is still there but doesn't magnify anymore.. just brings up the accessibility options or 'choose' from accessibility or magnification. I choose the magnification option everytime but still does nothing.

Anyone else the same or fixed it perhaps. It was useful to not have to get glasses out to see battery or power level or other minute text.. LOL

seems I'm not the only one..

no answers/fixes yet though

Card Phone CM1

Hi All,
Again, I didn't know where to post this; but yesterday I bought this Card Phone at a local used items store (Value Village, for those interested).
I've never seen one before, which is probably not surprising, since I'm hardly on the cutting edge of phone technology; but here's a piture for those interested.
I'm not asking for help with anything here. It's about 2"x3.25" in size, and the thickness of about 5 credit cards. P.S. It doesn't work.

URL Shortcuts on Home Screen

I am in the process of moving from my trusty old Samsung Galaxy Tab S to an S7+ and trying to set it up to look the same.

One thing that is puzzling me at the moment is that on the old tablet I have created several icons (shortcuts?) on the Home page that point to webpages, such as bbc.co.uk/weather and I have modified the icon so that it uses a new image.

Problem is that I cannot remember how I did this 🤔

So, 2 questions......
  • How do I create a shortcut on the Home page for a URL?
  • How do I update the image used for the shortcut to use one of my own?
I tried xicon changer but this seems to just work with apps - there must be something else that does the job!

Thanks

Keep getting missed calls from non-existent numbers??

Hello again all, I have recently, this past couple of months, been getting a lot of calls to my phone from numbers I do not recognize, from within my area code, and if I answer there is nothing, nobody speaks, then just hangs up, but if I miss the call then try to call back I get an error recording telling me to check the number then try again??
If I choose the option provided to send a message, I get a text error telling me it is a 'Landline' or something and that a voice message will have to be sent, which will cost me something??
It is almost like I am continuously getting calls from imaginary fictional phone numbers, and I am wondering if someone can explain this to me Please??
Thanks up front!!

Help Is it safe to reboot my phone?

I have a Pixel 7 Pro which I rooted (so that I could run AdAway). I have turned off all of the settings that allow the phone to update the OS, apps, etc. I made a few small changes the other day (to reduce background data communications) and feel that the phone needs to be rebooted for these changes to come into full effect.

However, the phone is indicating:
System update – now
Android 13
Tap to learn more and install
Restart now

My concern is that if I reboot the phone, I will have to re-root it (and possibly reset a ton of settings). So, can I reboot without the phone's updating itself? If the phone updates itself and I lose my root, what is the easiest way to recover root?

More importantly, what else can I turn off so this never happens again? If this means disabling Play Store, or something like that, I am okay with that since I have yet to see an app update that matters.

App Development for Autism

Hi, I am currently doing a dissertation for my computing degree. I was wondering if it was possible to develop an app that would listen for loud noises and/or frequencies to automatically trigger noise cancelation headphones. I.e. if someone with Autism struggled with certain noises, an app would listen out for the noise and trigger noise cancelling headphones if heard to cancel out the noise the person would have discomfort or sensory issues with.

Also, if it is possible how complex would the app be?

Can't call after a call when wired

Hello all. I may have missed the solution to this but here goes.
While using a wired headset if a call has ended I am unable to make a call until I manually clear the details from my phone screen of the previous call. If there a way to sort this out as it is 'annoying' It has happened with several devices over the last couple of years.

Thank you

How do I determine owner of number receiving texts from my phone?

I was going through my usage history on my phone and found something very odd: my phone sends text messages WITHOUT my participation!

Every day, it sends 5 texts at 1 minute intervals to the very same 4 digit number. It is NOT me that is sending those texts! I often go weeks without sending a single text and these are often being sent when I'm asleep. The phone is right beside me when I sleep and I'm sure no one else used it while I was asleep.

I'm puzzled by how a 4 digit phone number works. Shouldn't it have at least 10 digits here in North America to be connectable? (I'm in Ontario, Canada.)
The texts do NOT appear in my text history so I have no idea what is being sent. Is there any kind of reverse lookup that would tell me who owns this 4 digit number? If I knew who was receiving these texts, it might help me determine what's in them.

I suspect there is some kind of malware on the phone that is automatically sending texts every day for some unknown reason. Or maybe an app that I installed is misbehaving. I get all my apps from Google Playstore but I know that is no guarantee that the app is harmless.

The phone is a Pixel 3 running Android 12.

Phone calls no longer work on connected car audio system...

My phone pairs successfully with the Tekna audio system of my 2015 Qashqai. All of the music, radio, podcast et al apps work.
Initiating and receiving phone calls as well as WhatsApp voice calls used to work without problems since I bought the car in 2015.
A couple of months ago I received a phone call and got no sound when I pressed the answer button, I didn't hear the caller, and he/she didn't hear me either.
Since then all phone calls connect but there isn't any sound received nor transmitted.
When I break the USB connection, the call is working, but than I need to hold the phone in my hands, and that's illegal (in Belgium) and far too dangerous when driving.
Note that receiving and initiating WhatsApp voice calls continues to work.
My phone is a Nokia X20 model TA-1341 and runs Android version 13, Build nr 00WW_3_470_SP01.
I use Google's Phone app, last update apr 5, 2023, version 103.0.522355693-publicbeta
I can't think of any setting that would cause this behavior.
In fact I wonder whether it is the phone or the car that is to blame...
Any suggestions would be wholeheartedly appreciated, I am desperate as I miss all incoming phone calls: I can pick up but don't hear the caller and neither do they hear me..

Galaxy j1 mini prime camera Macro mode

Most phones I had thus far always had camera Macro Mode setting.
I can hold camera close to object(say..back of router to take photo of wifi/password, etc..)
Usually hold camera very close and tap screen twice, then picture comes in focus and take photo, done.
Last phone (J2 Prime, year 2017)) did Macro, no problem.

Now I have Galaxy j1 mini prime (year 2016) which is almost exactly like J2 (thus I assumed item like camera would be the same.
Galaxy j1 mini prime do NOT have Macro mode option, Nothing happens tap screen twice, pictures still out of focus.

Per google search Galaxy j1 mini prime does have Macro mode option but not my Galaxy j1 mini prime phone.

Some say Galaxy j1 mini prime camera lense will not do Macro, but J2 camera is set for Macro,
This don;t make sense cause why would J1 and J2 camera lenses be different?

I tried several camera apps from Google Play store. NONE had Macro mode option.

So can anybody here shed some light about Macro mode for Galaxy j1 mini prime? Am I just stuck with NO Macro mode camera lense?
