now, i try to disable Sense and it wont let me. it wont let me clear default and when i force stop it says it stops but then it opens right back up again. after force stop i press home button from the home screen and no option for "launcher" comes up as it did when i originally disabled Sense on my phone.

anyone have ay suggestions?

The update is supposed to fix Wifi signal strength, and also a network update that address battery life... among other things.
 
Can someone give me a crashing course as to what were the problems before this fix and what was done?

This "grounding issue", what was the problem before? Wi-fi?
 
Major problem after update here. My phone is trying to send out every single SMS message I've ever sent, even the ones ported over to this phone (bought it over the weekend). I use Chompie for SMS. The phone starts sending them out rapid fire and giving me an error message saying my phone is trying to send a large number of SMS messages; click OK or cancel. I click cancel and the error message pops up again immediately. This goes on until I pull the battery. I rebooted and within 5 minutes, the problem started again. I am on hold with Sprint customer service right now. I am pretty upset.
 
Not digging the wifi "fix" so far. Just installed the update and here in my office where I used to get a low but usable signal from our access point a few rooms away I now get nothing but "Scanning..."

Brilliant.

I have 802.11n here at home and cannot connect. I have a v002 EVO my wife has a v003. I wonder if that makes a difference?

That's good that there were no issues with your update. I thought it was odd that I was able to update again so, perhaps there were issues with my original install (even though it reported success)

There was absolutly nothing on my phone as I has just done a factory reset as an attempt to see if the poor 3G speeds I was getting were the result of a conflict with some app (this was suggested elsewhere on the forum) So, I was running a pristine version of the OS (not a single 3rd party app installed)

I'll take the phone to the Sprint shop I got the phone from this evening but unless they can give me a replacement I think I'll have to return it. I was already close due to the poor 3G speeds (though I've got a decent signal of -80 to - 85) but the EVO is such a great phone that I wanted to see if the speed issues would get better over time. Unfortunately, this will be the issue that pushes me over the edge.

As I mentioned originaly, no one other than myself made the decision to reinstall the update but, the fact that the option was there and the fact that it was so destructive is just a poor on on HTC's part.

I wouldn't be too concerned about it as I'm the only person that has happened to and I could have easily avoided it. The first time through the update, it seemed like it competed successfully. That being said, it is something to be aware of.

So...uhh...stuck on the HTC EVO 4G splash screen...for about 45 minutes now. Update completed, phone rebooted...well...never made it past the boot screen. I've done a couple of battery pulls, I can boot into the bootloader, but can't get this thing to boot up. Lovely.
 
I just want to let all of you know that this update is great. It may not be noticeable right away, but for me it is... the phone is more responsive and loads things a lot faster. I downloaded the "More icons" widget app before updating and now I have to redo them because it says "error loading gadget," however during all that the app has to load all my apps on the phone and it used to do it a lot slower and also scrolling through my apps was choppy and laggy, but now after the update it's quick and smooth.

I kept checking for half an hour, but the update wouldn't show up. I switched to my wifi network and it showed up immediately. So, yeah, it looks like they are staggering the rollout to keep it from swamping their network. If it doesn't show up over the Sprint network, try getting on a wifi network.

Are you rooted?
Do you have a lot of apps installed?

It took me about 5 minutes in that screen.
 
I was just about to complain that other people in my city (atlanta) had gotten it and I hadn't when I got it. Only got an HTC update though, no firmware.

Tested it on my chair before the update = Top screen wouldn't work
Tested it on my chair after the update = Top screen works.

Yeah!
