Ok... since it was asking me to install the update again, i decided to check again via "HTC Software update"... said no updates were available... and the update notifications item went away... :)
 
I posted a new thread on this because I believe it is VERY important:

After you update to 1.47.651.1, some may be tempted to check for the update again. Your Evo will state there is an update available, do you want to update. Do NOT update again.

There have been several reports that re-applying the update will brick your phone. Simply check your update and confirm that it is as stated above.

Do NOT re-update!

Good decision not to do the update again....I wish I made the same choice !
 
ATX here, no update notification yet, but manual check showed the update was there. Going to wait until a new unrEVOked comes out before updating...
 
Finally got my update going. I'm leaving it alone as y'all have suggested and hope for the best. :D

I'd also like to know if unrevoked works again. I'll miss the programs I had that required root if it doesn't.
 
After I did my update, I did a full charge and removed the phone from the charger fairly quickly after the light turned green. Now 33 mins and some change later I still am at 100%. Light usage so far, a few speed tests, e-mails and texts.

Anyone else noticing any changes in battery life, or least changes in the reporting of the battery?

My previously non-responsive screen is also fixed! I tested it on my desk where it did not work before and it works just fine now. Some of my widgets had to be reloaded.

Also tested:

Wifi signal - shows to be stronger in my office than before the update

4G signal - I now receive a 4G signal in my office located on the 2nd floor towards the interior of the building (no windows anywhere in our office suite). Albeit, the signal is very low and intermittent. I did not receive signal at all prior to the update.

Update:

I have been connected to a 4G signal for just under 6 hours straight (started with 100% charge) with moderate usage (app market browsing, texting, couple of phone calls, some internet browsing) and still have 42% of the battery remaining. Before the update I would have had this type of battery remaining after only 1-2 hours of use on 4G.

Update 2:

I have now gone 13+ hours connected to a 4G signal and have 16% battery life remaining! Not much use since the last update, mainly sitting idle overnight without charging. The last time I tried to let the phone sit idle overnight, while connected to a 4G network, the phone was dead in the morning. And, that was on a full charge. I went to bed with approx 40% battery remaining last night.

Update 3:

I ended up getting around 15 hours of use from my phone before it died. This was from a full charge and constant connection to 4G.
 
Updated, and now my Android wallpapers are gone, and I can't switch to the launcher, and turn of Sense....WTF HTC?

Mine did the same, made my "pucker" factor go up.... I find it odd that a software update can fix the "grounding issue" but it does seem to have done the trick and the unit does seem a bit snappier.

Weird...mine is not showing any updates available after I updated.
 
Ok you guys have me real scared about updating. I really cant have a paper weight right now. Should i wait and see if htc fixes these issues? My phone is perfect and i dont want a refurb after the phone possibly bricks.
 
Ok just to clarify a bit about the bricking.

I performed the update and had the voicemail app, pandora widget and buzz widget not display correctly. I just removed them and put them back and it corrected the issue.

However, after the update it was downloading the update again. I cannot verify if it was because it started automatically or if it was because I had it search the htc updates again. Regardless, I cancelled the download and checked the software version and it showed the correct version. I then checked the update again and it said that I was up to date.

My recommendation is after the initial update check to see if its downloading the update again. If so cancel it. Check your software version to see if it the most recent version of 1.47.651. To check this go to setting>about phone>Software Information and look at the software number.

There is a possibility that after initial install it requires a few minutes before it detects the new build version.

Hope this avoids a few bricked phones.

Holy sh**...my Android Wallpapers are gone too !

Under Menu>wallpapers I only have:

-Live Wallpapers
-HTC Wallpapers
-Gallery

Excellent point ! I think your right on the money about it requiring a few minutes before detecting the new version.

Patience is a virtue and a lack of patience ( and piss poor development by HTC) bricked my phone :)
 
Huh, now that it was mentioned about the wall paper being changed i just checked and all my android ones are gone. I didnt use them so its no biggie to me but why would they remove those? What could that have fixed by removing them?

Im showing Live wallpaper, HTC wallpapers and Gallery now.
