THE FOURTH BUTTON of the four home keys, i mean really........ who uses it and for what? (honestly if you do use it please tell me how i can utilize it)

google search????? haven't used it once.... only a huge nucense when typing and accidently hitting it..... would be better served as a media button that transfered the phone into (dare i say it) an "ipod" like screen with awesome customizable greatness for music

what would your suggestions be for that fourth button? maby we can get them to do a software update getting rid of the pos (if thats even possible , idk )

Its a good question. I use it all the time. Removed the Google search widget and use this instead. I may have kept the google widget but I have issues with it dating back to the Hero. The widget seems to get displaced (for lack of a better term) and I have to remove it and replace it and it may work for a few days...instead the forth button works well for me.

Hmmm, it's the search button. Basically searches the device for anything related to what you type. Or if you hold it down you speak what you want to search for. Searches your apps, contacts, bookmarks, all kinds of things. Will even search the Internet if you don't have a match on your device.

I usually use it to quickly search for something on the Internet using the voice input.

Try it, you might like it.

intresting, ill have to try to use this and get more accustumed to it, i still kinda like my idea of transforming the whole phone into a media player (kind of like when you open it up already but way more developed) but i guess there is already a ton of stuff out there like it and it is only a touch on the screen to open the apps

Actually is really good button I love it, use in apps like the market, messages, mail and almost anything the support it, besides Google search I swear when I had the moment I wish it had it

Yeah it's a great shortcut button for browser searching so you don't have to use the screen. Saves time of going to the top of the page. Same for contacts when you are searching for a name to send text etc. I don't use it much for searching the system, but I like the button.

Definitely do not want it for music, or media. I don't like the Ipod way.

Would rather of had a trackball or something on the bottom. I have not used the button once, nor do I see myself using it in the future.

I use it all the time too in all the standard ways; searching for info on my phone or using it to find info in specific apps. One of my favorite uses for it though is an added function that you get when installing QuickDesk. Basically, it gives you an extra home screen for some additional shortcuts and widgets that can be opened while inside any app.

Wish you'd turned WiFi before opening your browser? No sweat. Long-press the search button and QuickDesk launches right on top of what you're doing. It's great.

So yeah. Love the search button.

Let's see - I've used it recently for the following searches:
- Champagne sizes
- Sex tape (don't judge - it's not what it appears)
- Texas auto inspection
- Traveling Wilburies

Yeah, I use it in other places, too. Very handy, if you ask me...

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I use the voice search for GPS. It's very helpful.

"Directions to McDonalds"

and bam, google navigation shows up with directions.

I asked what Steve Jobs would do about this and this was his response:

You accidentally hit the button while you're trying to text and perfrom other tasks?
I've got the solution for you... you're holding it wrong! Here's how you should hold my phone, I mean, your phone...

So when you're running an app it actually works as "Search" for that specific app? Didn't know that...should be of more use.

It functions pretty much exactly like the "Genius Button' that T-Mobile is advertising. Try long hold and the phrases they use on the commercial.
