"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

Hey everyone,
I just registered the other day because I too was following the twitter stuff. I live in a burb about 15 mi. S of cleveland, so needless to say, my curiosity was a little peaked when I saw "buckeye", "rocks", etc.
Anyway, we are having a Tall Ships Festival currently. It's kind of a big thing this weekend with Harborfest also going on.
Now, this is more directed to Beansnizzle:
The ships are docked right behind the HOF. Maybe there are sponsor booths or something like that similar to a rib burn-off. Possibly Verizon has a booth? I don't know, I'm just thinking out loud here.
It is kind of a big weekend downtown.
What do you think?

Stan and Morbid (and anyone else looking for #5)...

I went out to Texas Motor Speedway last week and also, obviously, found nothing. When I went to the nearest VZW store and told the employee what I was up to, he hadn't heard anything about it, but he was very interested. I told him the clues that made me think to search Texas Motor Speedway, but that I was skeptical about it being there since Sprint is a corporate sponsor. But then, *IF* I understood correctly, he said that there are Verizon offices in the LoneStar Tower there at TMS (the 1st-4th floors are offices, 5th-10th are luxury condominiums). I have searched the internet furiously to find any proof of that, but can't find anything. (But I can't find any kind of directory to show any company that has an office there) I live about 30 miles away and don't feel like driving out there again, but thought I'd pass that along to you guys.

I realize that's not a great tip, but it's all I got. Not worth making the 60-mile round trip drive to me, but if you live nearby, I think it's worth checking out. I guess just drive up to the tower and go inside and see if there's a directory of the office occupants?

You just gave me an idea with this post. A Motorola rep was quoted saying, "Some people will be able to hold their Droid X and look up to see fireworks..." I think this was from a source on Howard Forums. (Thanks mahers)

Maybe there are indeed going to be Verizon booths at various locations around the country this weekend for different events. The booths would hold the missing Droid X's, and when someone mentions Droidlanding it will be theirs... Just a thought.

ok, so 2 things:
1. are you sure that quote was from that? i know for a fact it was mentioned in HoFo by someone who had inside knowledge...not sure if he was a VZW or Moto employee, but he did say that exact same thing.
2. on the 4th of july, with all the fireworks, do you not hear the words, "hey, look at that" all night long? Hmmmmmmmmm

I might try to head up there tonight. I hope they have beer :D

Actually, I am not sure if it was from that. It may have been on HoFo that I saw it, I will edit the post, thanks!

Sure thing. I am really intrigued by #2 above, though.

Anyone else think that yesterday's 2nd tweet involves fireworks? You know how they explode in all kinds of shapes and designs now? Maybe they made some that explode in the shape of the Droid eye?!?!? Anyone near a 4th celebration with VZW as a sponsor?

another (worthless?) update on my search for #5...

I can't find anything about Verizon having an office at Texas Motor Speedway, but I did find that 20/20 Companies, a marketing company, does have an office there. And who is one of their clients? Verizon. I just called them up, though, and the girl I talked to knew nothing about it. She put me on hold for a minute to ask some other people in her office, and they didn't know either. And actually, she said, the work they do with Verizon is more on the FiOS side, not wireless.

Oh, and she confirmed that there are no Verizon offices at the Lone Star Tower at TMS.

Whereby didn't I say I thought the fourth of July and few days ago. Makes sense right. the 4th represents freedom and didn't the droid x's escape? I get no respect, no respect. Lol. I still don't think so T MS though. Sprint and Samsung sponsored venue..... naw.
