Official GSM Hero 2.1 Thread

I have a big problem after upgrade to 2.1 - when some of my contacts is ringing me there is no sound!!!! It shows in the display but no sound.

Any clue?????
 
Is there anyone chasing T-Mobile for a date ? I have an unlocked T-Mobile phone that I use on 3 but have not been able to find any contacts with T-mobile that I can use as I am not a T-mobile customer. Obviously the end of June date has been and gone !!

Got my Hero in Feb on the promise of 2.1 in March, still waiting !

I guess it is some sound bug. Sometimes it takes too long between the call is actually received and the sound rings. I usually have to players paused on my phone (one for music and another for audio books), probably it is too much for it to handle.

the latest date is mid July as they announced on the T-Mobile support forum this week.
 
I moved from Villain to the stock RUU last night and received the updates right after the phone booted.

I've just noticed that Friend Stream and widgets like Mail are missing. Also at the bottom of the Facebook page is says "download the app for your Desire" ?

3UK user here and have bit the bullet and have gone to 2.1
Few comments:
Make sure you have the SD card in the phone when creating goldcard.img :rolleyes:
I did mine on XP 32, thank heavens for dual boot
Make sure you have HTC Sync installed, otherwise you've no chance lol

The downgrade and 2 installs of 2.1 went fine, thank you OP and all those in thread.

I am finding a few issues.
Market - doesn't remember all my apps, despite me syncing prior to install of generic rom. I used Astro to backup and have reinstalled from that, luckily. Might just be me that one however.
I used SMS Backup and Restore for my texts and it has restored without issue, thank you.

My3 isn't quite working. The url is http://mobile.three.co.uk/sdf/p3android and yet it says i have to be using a 3 phone. I can access it, my going to http://mobile.three.co.uk and navigated from there, and, my mobile network is working since i can browse. (I do have the
 
I'm quite tempted to unbrand and root my phone and insrall valain ROM. I know it will invalidate the warranty but if my phone turns a brick than who cares what was inatalled there. Anyway I might do it if have time this weekend.

been on contract since november last year

i was just fiddling about with the settings and impulsively checked for software updates - and it came up! no change of time/date.

although i now have been repeatedly told that i am running low on space, so i had to delete about half of my apps.

the update did NOT wipe contacts, SMS, wifi memory, or any settings that i have noticed yet!

i remember it being the same time as many other people as i checked this forum when that happened.

i had been checking for updates fairly regularly - the previous time i checked was probably two days ago, so this was released very very recently.

Cheers man still waiting on the pre-update update tried the date trick but nothing so stumped again!

good luck mate, shouldn't be long now.

PS. be very patient when installing the update, mine stopped on a white HTC screen for about 10 minutes, seemingly doing nothing - i was scared that i had done something wrong and was waiting on the phone to orange
