EVO Owners -> X Owners

So i returned my evo online ans sprint said I will get my refund within 3 billing periods.. Wondering how long it will actually take?.. Anyone?

Wow dude, really...it's not that hard to return a phone. You're talking like they're a bunch of crooks who will take your phone back and still try and make you pay for it.

I was on T-Mob for 8 years, just went to Sprint. I've taken back 3 EVO's with zero hassle.

You have 30 days of no crap from them, so if you don't like it take the thing back, easy as pie not all this stuff you want someone to do.

Oh and FYI the last phone I took back I did cancel my contract and I did not get the 3rd degree from them. I changed my mind 3 days later and they recovered my cell #.

Ye's, I'd say 2 of the EVO's I had were lemons, the 3rd turned into an HTC BRICK from their update. The 4th is fine.

Hey, here is how to properly discontinue your service with sprint. I think this only applies if you are a new customer. You shouldn't have any restocking fee. Also i'm not sure, but this probably applies only to Sprint.com and actual sprint retail stores, I'm not sure about 3rd party stores.

First go to this website and print out this page.... Have this with you while on the phone with the rep, and take it with you to the store when returning your phones.

Sprint 30-day Return and Exchange Policy

Next, get the phone from the new carrier, and port your number over. If you don't port your number before cancelling, that number is gone and you can't get it back.

Once you ported, call sprint customer care, ask for cancellations.

As soon as the cancellation rep is on the line, get his/her full name and employee ID number and write it down on a paper, that you will keep.

Next let the rep know you want to cancel, they will ask you why. However, you do not have to provide any reason as to why. Just politely inform them that you are within your 30 day sprint gaurantee, and you would like to cancel. If they ask why again, tell them that the contract doesn't require a customer to provide a reason. Ask nicely to deactivate the account.

Next, with that web print out in front of you, go through each of the bullet points with the rep. Have the rep confirm that you will not get any charges on the following.

* refund monthly charges as part of your service plan
*refund activation fee
*refund the purchase price of your device
*waive the early termination fee (ETF)
*waive the restocking fee
*Refund taxes and sprint surcharges associated with the above charges

Once he confirms everything, get a CONFIRMATION NUMBER!! Write this number down. Hang up. About an hour later, call back, speak to any new customer service rep, and verify that your account was truely and indeed cancelled.

Next, package your phone up in the original box and original condition. Get this sprint phone off your hands as fast as you can, if you drop it, scratch it, etc etc, that may be reason enough for them not to accept the return. Take it to the store, with your original receipt. Also you can not mail the rebate in if you are returning, meaning the box needs to still have the upc code.

Take the web print out with you to the store. Tell them you are there to do the return. If they ask why, tell them to please just do the return, you are within your 30 days, don't need to provide a reason. Also let them know you already called customer care and cancelled, at that point they know the account is cancelled and they wont hassle and try to keep you.
Have the web print out with you, incase the store charges you a restocking fee. Keep your original receipt, get a new refund receipt. Keep all paper work, employee names, etc.

Then to make sure the account is really cancelled, call about a week later, then 1 month later to make sure you have a 0 balance. Because when you cancel, according to sprint, your bill shows a balance due, until the following billing cycle, when they zero it out. Doesn't make sense, but that is what they told me.

You should then be free of sprint, and you can go to who ever you want.

I'm sorry but having to get 4 replacements in less than a month's time is just ridiculous. But to each their own i guess....

I don't think he was saying that Sprint or anyone else were criminals just more along the lines concerned about how the process worked

Yes and no, other evo users with the same problem supported me, then other die hard sprint people basically told me to F-Off

yeah for some reason and not even the Evo threads
but the Eris threads(and im sure elsewhere)
people take offense to you talking bad about
their phone as if it is some kind of personal attack.

I literally had to deal with people saying "they have had
sprint for 10 years with nearly perfect service" and that
i basically was complaining for nothing...so i def understand

its ashame because of how some of the people treat others
here it doesn't make the forums a good place to be.

What's funny is these are the very same people call Apple
users "fan boys" lol

yea, I've had bad luck with the phone. I'm into the pain I guess. ;)

The number does sound crazy, but welcome to the new world of cell devices. There are Droid Incredible owners out there that have had to go though a bunch of exchanges to get a good one, and the same with the iPhone 4. It's all part of the game now. Hopefully the x won't have serious issues, we will just have to wait and see next week.

better camera? how can you tell without seeing it for yourself.

faster processor? GPU is better which makes it perform faster. CPU isnt the issue.

better reception? they're on different carriers. how could you compare?
Here I'll answer ofr them

1. Camera: how can you tell? Research my friend research. There must be 100 sites with pictures and reviews already. Perhaps he like the way you can use different mic's for different scenes. You don't have to actually see these things yourself to know if you like the idea or not.

2. CPU is better on DX and it is a 45nm part meaning less power and it is overall a more powerful CPU architecture and is paired with a GPU. Look at the benchmarks and tell us again how the CPU isn't better.

3. Why do they have to compare? The fact that its on VW makes it have better reception alone and the DX's, I forget the name, antenna makes for better reception over all, even if it were on Sprint. So it stands to reason it will be even better on the better network.

You sound like an EVO fanboy that got his feelings hurt because someone else has a different opinion your phone. Get over it!

In my experience, Verizon CS has gotten MUCH better in the last 12 to 18 months. 3 yrs ago I would say it was pretty bad. The last 3 or 4 calls I've made in the last 12 months they have done everything but kissed my back side and were very pleasant. I'll gladly pay extra for that kind of service.

Cool find on the stand! I wish him well. I just may get one.

I know. :( Why cant anyone get it right?

Likely because there are always variables that prevent it from being apples to apples, most reviewers don't have proper test equipment or software (hence, the infamous simultaneous browser loading by finger), and in the end there's always at least a little bias from the get - leaning towards one phone or another.

Doesn't bother me though. I tend to just look for common things that come up in more than one review or head to head match. If you start to see trends in multiple videos, then you can begin to take those items to the bank. Otherwise, it's just entertaining (and addicting) to watch. :D

Nice find!

Too bad its leather :( since I'm a vegan I have to keep looking for a plastic version...

You don't have to eat it. :D

And plastic doesn't biodegrade like leather does. Won't you think of our precious environment? :p

/sarcasm

Well I have to admit the interface for the camera/video was much better on the evo; in general I prefer the htc-sense flat menu layout to droid x layered menu (much easier to select options under htc; kind of hope there is an update to droid x that removes some of the layering).

Camera options for the droid x (when compared to evo) is very disappointing.

LoL you suck! :)

You made me smile though. My friends always try to give me a hard time with that same argument ;)

True but Sprint has been notoriously known for their incompetent customer service.

Kind of like how Verizon was known for having sucky smartphones pre-droid era

At & t network is known to be overloaded with the iphone and their signals are suffering

and t-mobile supposedly is always behind with the hot phones

Sprint has received a lot of flack for it's customer service more so then other carriers and I am so glad to actually know it's not just me who suffered. Apparently when i spoke ill of Sprint in the evo forums I was exaggerating about my experience(when it was the truth) but ehh whatever lol

I did the 30 day worry free trial deal too and when I went to send it back they told me they wouldnt be able to get my money back for another month. I paid cash in store. I called Sprint and they had no Idea what was going on. One of them said I should get it back on the spot, then the other said no. Then I got a supervisor and they said I have to wait for the billing cycle to be over with.

My concern moving to verizon is that they will push undesired applications to the device during updates (like they did with bing to the black berry) or add for pay services I don't want (I've heard several people had some voice mail to text thingy added to her account). I'm currently with sprint and i'm not in love with them but they are a known evil :)

My top 10 reasons.

1. Screen (24-bit and higher resolution)
2. Camera
3. 30 FPS cap on Evo
4. Severe input lag on Evo
5. Processor
6. Battery life
7. 3 Mics
8. Verizon
9. Physical buttons
10. It's not HTC

Number 10 should be the number one reason.

Damn, thought i had settled on the evo but now that I see this thread, i'm not sure.....X or EVO? ? ? ?
Do you have equal service from Sprint and VZW? That should be your first decision. Sprint coverage where I live is nearly non-existant where VZW service is more than acceptable.
