"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

Just got home from hunting #9 in Nashville. Didn't win it. But neither did the 17 year old boy who found it. His father was with him when he found it, but the boy is the one who claimed it. They called Verizon legal department and they said no! So if you are under the age listed in the rules...DON'T TOUCH IT! Let you parents.

They did a drawing from the 1st 7 people to arrive after it was found. I wasn't in that group either, LOL. Some guy named Chris, if they haven't tweeted the info yet.

The Droid Eye certificate was taped to the outside of a window on the County Music Hall of Fame.

Gonna upload pics to Picasa, I'll send a link when I'm done.

i was just thinking, the 20$ gift card that verizon is giving out is nice, but its barely gonna cover the tax on the purchase of the phone. oh well, i still had fun

well they hid the one in buffalo pretty well, i had time to cross dowtown, redlights and all, and make it there and still search for about five or so minutes before it was found, all from the time the posted the coordinates...like i said earlier, there were 20 or so people looking here

All I can say is I'm excited to see that video.

Oh well, good job though, Louis!

Thank you. But, I still wish to thank everyone here for at least helping me get the $20 gift card. ^_~

Everyone here helped me out, even if only looking in your own cities, you helped inspire me up to take the time to almost win a Droid X. If not for the great people on these forums I would have never looked, since Verizon is running this contest so backwards.

I can tell everyone to not be as trusting as I was with DroidDecoder though. They're very helpful but either unwilling or just too unaware of the final location to be of that much help.

And for those still wondering....Yes, you do get the phone instantly, and there's a Verizon employee on scene to activate the phone with you. You get a special letter with a code on it that allows you to activate the Droid X early. And, I overheard Ted joke about not signing the disclaimer, and the girl in the black Rule the Air shirt told him they'd raffle the phone if he refused. lol I couldn't imagine anyone refusing.

PS: F that stupid 17yr old kid for ruining the contest there. If he would have kept his jerk hands to himself, someone else would have found it and won fair & square. It's bad enough Verizon ran this contest poorly. I'd be really pissed if a 17yr old jerk ruined it in Orlando. Way to think you're too good to follow the rules...jerk.

Here are my pics. Didn't get any from the West bank of the river, I was hunting feverishly. More on that later, maybe.

@DroidLanding designate #9, Nashville, TN

All photos were taken with my HTC Droid Eris, so anybody that badmouths that phone can suck it...LOL

Also, I met 2 or 3 Android Forum members. Most were lurkers. If you see yourself in a photo, write up a first post and be know. Most of us don't bite, and a few are even nice.

So all the complainers on this thread - did you want Moto/VZW to just give away 20,000 X's because you post on this or any other message board?:confused: Just like the lottery or gambling, your luck varies.

Yeah, morbid said he got there within 5min... I guess it was hidden inside somewhere.
When he walked in the dude had ALREADY signed his waiver and was handing it to the rep. AND all of the GCs were gone already and all waivers signed...?! WTH?!
He says it was found at 1:50, but morbid says he was there at 1:49..................................................

Well my VZW phone says 3:14, my work phone says 3:19, and my work pc says 3:27.

Just sayin.

Keep in mind, as long as it took them to pull their heads out and actually post the "rules"...it stands a real good chance the kid has never read them. If it wasn't for this forum, I would have never known the rules existed. Twitter is blocked at work, I signed up via text messages and have never actually logged on to the twitter website. And there is nothing about any of this on the verizon site...not even a link to the rules, you have to backdoor into it. I'm just sayin'...

I hate when people say "just sayin". Like that all of sudden makes what they said ok or not rude. One of my pet peeves...
