Root *MORE* Reliable root for leakers has been found

There's a new thread over at XDA with a method that supposedly anyone, including those with leaked updates, can root their Eris. It involves a lot of command line typing and the initial followers were running into a lot of mistakes but it now appears that the instructions are updated and I saw one person who's gotten root.

Positive is, no stupid inserting/removing the SD card with some voodoo-magic timing req'd.

...Thanks for nothing?
Are you talking about xda?
what are you talking about?
Not to be an ahole but what do you mean?

Wow! This is pretty cool. Way to go wag3slav3 and XDA! :D

FYI, there are at least two (maybe four) 1.47.0000 users that cannot root due to "main version is older!" error messages...hope this works for them too...

Nice.

I also just posted in one of the threads in the all-things-root-eris forum that there are at least two (maybe four) 1.47.0000 HBOOT users that cannot root due to "main version is older!" error message. Looks like this method should work no matter what HBOOT version you have (i.e., not just for leakers?).

Hopefully, they are following the threads re. this should they still wish to root...

Funny that now we have like 3 possibly 4 ways to root this phone.

Original 1.5 > 2.1 root
Possible evo/flash lite method
Reboot and scan for recovery mode
and this new method.

I was able to root using the new method and I am on 2.1 v3. I've never been so happy to see Amon Ra's recovery!

there are multiple people on xda already stating this works and that they can't believe how easy it was .....

good news for me, cuz now i send my defective rooted eris back and still be able to have root ......

hate the track ball BTW

To all New Root Users:
Ok guys I know A lot of new root people are going to be coming around.
PLEASE, PLEASE, read, search, and familiarize yourself with everything. Most of us have gone through this process and have been through all the same problems you guys are about to hit. So don't Post a "please help me" post unless you have truely searched and found nothing what so ever on your problem, I'm sure it has been discussed and solved some where on these forums so use this search Button Here You will save both us long time rooters and yourself, a lot of hassle if you do.
