Root *MORE* Reliable root for leakers has been found

Another first time rooter/success story here... Up and running EEv3.0. Took all of an hour to complete the process and that was with a screw up on my end (forgetting to wipe the phone before installing the ROM). Next up is OC'ing and Wireless Teather... WOO!

Also had success. Been crusing the forum for a long time, don't post much, but wanted to thank NKT and let him know I was never mad about the rooting issues that came with my leaks. We all knew it could have some drawbacks. I was just glad to have 2.1 so early. Went on a vacation in April to another state and had a phone with better navigation than my father in laws Garmin. That was a sweet feeling.....battle of the nerd devices and I came up on top. Thanks NKT!

I tried this a couple times today, and haven't made it past a black screen with a phone and a big red /!\ which makes me pull the battery. Phone's working fine, but no root.
My question is, anyone here live in Wichita and wanna help? I'll buy the beer, seriously!

Are you using the latest script and version of testfile?

First time, no, everything "worked" ok, then restarted into the black screen red exclamation. Second time around, nothing worked at all. Hence my offer for beer.

It's hard to make guesses without actually being able to see what's happening (and there are people far better at this than myself anyway). Plus I'm not familiar with Macs at all. About the only thing I can suggest now is to make sure the simple (and simple to overlook) stuff is all good. Usb debugging on, phone set to charge only, hack.zip contents moved to sdk tools folder..........

That's why I quit before I screwed something up. As for the rest, yup, yup, and yup. Don't know what I'm doing wrong, I'm sure it's something stupidly simple.

You may need to just try it a few more times. A lot of people have reported having to run it multiple times time before it "takes".

I thought about it, but I'm going to wait and see if there's someone close that can give me a hand, if not, I'll try it some more. I've done everything else to this phone, might as well root it too!

Will somebody please walk me through this? I've read all the instructions at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=724741 and http://androidforums.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=1138786 to root my leaked phone but I really don't understand it well enough to try it. I need to get this done to change it back to stock and I don't want a new rom, the original is fine for me. There are too many terms that I have no idea what they mean - I'm running Win 7 - there is just so much here that I don't understand - like how to push custom.img to the phone - there isn't a tutorial on all of the finer points here.

Thanks, Wendy

What do you mean to change it back to stock? You want to run non rooted 2.1?
