Zagg all the way here. Have the full body coverage coming in this week. I tried the body glove, but it made the phone bulky(er) and I didn't like the slipperiness of it. I've used Seidio before and liked them but I'm going with Invisible sheild this time.

How do you get the invisible shield thing off once you put it on? Does it leave a sticky residue or some crap after a year?

I think the one legitimate reason to have both a case and a screen protector is if you plan to sell the phone in the future, so you need to keep it in perfect condition.

I think screen protectors are different from cases because damage to them affects the phone's functionality, not just its appearance, since the screen is how we view the content and interact with the software.

No, the invisible shield comes off not to hard but def not as easy as the cheap SP. As for leaving residue, I have never seen any and I had it on my 3gs, iPhone4, and incredible and will be ordering it for this phone. It is def one of the best things you can do to a phone they are awesome.

The AT&T store sucks and Best Buy is even worse. I feel like the "red-headed stepchild" when I ask if they have any accessories. AT&T takes me to a small corner with two crappy cases (clear and cheap looking black) and when I ask about screen protectors they flip thru the entire case and just shrug.

Best Buy is even worse. They just stare at me and ask another coworker who shrugs and says they have nothing for the Captivate.

All the while - I'm surrounded by display after display of iPhone accessories. Today my local Best Buy actually had a Captivated display! A demo phone was under the display along with accessories. Guess what? It was an Evo display phone and Evo accessories - under a Samsung Captivate display poster. Hopefully over time more will be available.

I bought the clear case from ATT just out of desperation to find something to put it in until some other cases come out. However, I thought it made the phone look gross and bulky. It was hard as heck to get open, too.

i want/need a otterbox!!!

So did I and I emailed them about it and sadly this is the reply I got today:

At this time we have not heard any information on a case for this device. However if we do decide to create a case for this in the future we will post any information on our webpage or in our email news letter.

I got the same thing. If folks keep pounding them with emails they may see a market in it and make them.

I emailed Otterbox a couple days ago, and I actually got this response:
We are exploring case options for this device. Please stay tuned to otterbox.com for details as they become available.

So it seems they may be moving forward. I'm not sure though, the response still lacks any definite answer. Here's hoping they do make something though! I only got the Body Glove case because an Otterbox case wasn't available. The Body Glove case isn't bad by any means, but it feels cheaper than any Otterbox product I've used before. Plus, I'm much more confident in the shock-absorbing capabilities of Otterbox cases since it protected my old iPhone 3GS from drops onto rocks and other hard surfaces.

When the iPhone 4 was released they did not have a case available for it. They sent emails around saying what it should look like and it would be out in a while. It took about 2-3 weeks and they had the case for sale. Now this phone isn't going to sell like the iphone 4 did/does, and I'm sure they are not working overtime to get one done, but I'm sure they'll have one out soon enough, especially if the sales of this phone continue.

God is telling me to get some protection on this thing...Night before last I accidentally tipped a beer bottle and it got a pretty healthy dose... np...dried off just fine and still works perfectly...today...opening back of the mini van to throw in pool stuff and of course I dropped it from my hand which also had a pool bag in it...a nice 4 foot drop to pavement....slightly scratched a corner, no other visible damage whatsoever and it bounced a few times...I very impressed with its sturdiness but I will be picking body glove tomorrow and I've already ordered Invisible Shield.

You realize if you finally put a case on it you'll end up never dropping it again, right? At least thats how that always works out for me lol.

im using the "texting & driving: it can wait" screen protector that came with the phone. i was able to get rid of the text by using nail polish remover but if theres fingerprints on it you can still see the outline of the words if you put the phone at an angle. otherwise its a pretty good screen protector.

:D Thats awesome. Cheapo-ingenuity at its finest!

I got the Body Glove case...I like it. I dropped my Captivate on a brick walkway about 3 feet Friday night while hitting the town. Not a scratch. I have screen protectors ordered so I'm going to try one out and if it doesn't ruin the look and feel of the screen, I'll keep it.

Where'd you get it from? I'm still looking for a case. I can't stand the cheap clear and black cases they have at the AT&T store. I checked their website and the Captivate isn't listed.

I got the body glove case from my AT&T store.

I have so far wasted a total of $45 on screen protectors. First I spent $10 on some generic universal protectors which I couldn't get to fit right. Then I bought a universal invisible shield for 20 until I could get a custom fitted one, so I got the Lexard from Amazon for 15 which I got tonight and was total crap. The corners simply refuse to stick to the screen surface and the color white shows with many sparkly colored tiny dots on it! Right now I'm using one of my wife's iPhone spare protectors which I had to cut to get it to cover most of the screen and it looks like crap and I don't know what to do!

I want someone to design a screen protector with the home, back, search and menu keys painted on so I can actually see them when they go off. ;)

It's a little strange that some people have a case but not a screen protector. Oh look my screen is all scratched up but at least the back of the phone is as good as new!
