htc going to help us fix our "unofficial" updated phones

I don't think this is a workaround. This is a leak from the sprint store directly. This is the same update the stores will he installing to upgrade those who can't.
 
Its still a workaround, since it was NOT developed for the mainstream public to use; THAT will come OTA sometime in the future..Plenty of people will BORK their phones trying this...

.3 was also a "leak" and look at all the crying going on. Waiting another week or so will not kill anybody.
 
Its boggles my mind to think about how obsessed with getting a tiny, incremental, update that people have gotten..Geez, therre isnt a single thing different between .3 and .6, so why wouldn't you just wait a few more days and get it the easy way, at your convenience, without going through any hassle?
 
The only issue with the statements above is the sprint store is applying the same update and they can do it for me today. Doing this myself will save me time. How am I goong to BORK my phone like you said. If sprint was to apply it, will it still be BORK?

Not hardly anything that matters. I wanted the update so I can get updates going forward.
 
Not saying that YOU will BORK your phone, since you obviously have the skill level to do this on your own..Problem is that people who do NOT have YOUR skill level will try this, just because they see it on the internet, and will ruin their phones, then post all over the place that this fix doesnt work.
And, I would trust my own skills before I would trust some bad attitude, I-hate-my-job-Sprint- Store employee to do it anyway, if I cared enough about it to bother with this..I'll wait a day or 2 until it comes OTA..

Yes, well the "same" Froyo was available last Friday too.

You'll be able to get updates going forward without doing this on your own, but knock yourself out.

Watch HTC release a statement that fix floating around will be able to get you the official update but its not the one that will get you future OTA updates.

Well I just updated and everything went smooth. No thanks to htc. Worse case scenario htc says it's not official then there will be another fix I am sure. I doubt that highly because as stated above this is the official.

Most people that went ahead and installed the leaked .3 version should have the skill to upgrade to this .6 version. The people that lacked the skill are the ones that waited for the official HTC update.
 
If the official update (.6) is really different from the unofficial one (.3), then I would be the first one as well downloading this.

But what's the rush? People are downloading this because they want their phones to say .6?

I mean, I don't have any rush whatsoever. I will patiently wait for HTC to release their fix, and when they do, I won't be happy/ecstatic like I was when I updated unofficial one.

Why?

Because .6 offers absolutely no difference for what I have now.

Once updated it's identical to a phone that got the OTA.

The 'fix' appears to be the tool that HTC gave Sprint.

I disagree. If this were the case we'd have been able to apply the .6 OTA. The OTA updates we are getting seem to be locked to whatever is on the phone. Anthing going forward is expecting 3.26.651.6.
 
Well here is one thing for the people holding back and waiting on HTC. There is a possibility that the .6 will get root. I don't know exactly when but from the other updates, it seems pretty quick. I don't know about anyone else but I am going to root as soon as it's available so I can avoid this kind of crap again. .3 will not get root and that's a fact. Good luck waiting on HTC.......

I get what you mean . But at the end of the day everyone is going to get .6 and we will all be rooted. Some just dont want to do it right at this moment. If we had root for .6 i bet you tons would jump on it as i type. Is there any difference NO(except for some numbers on hboot that will effect rooting and possibly further updates, but again we will all have to have .6 sooner or later FACT.
 
I downloaded .6 to have on hand just in case HTC drags their feet for a really long time. I'm planning on waiting for an OTA .6 update. If one doesn't come, I'll use the .6 I have, if it does come, even better. The ONLY reason, as far as I'm concerned, to go to .6 is to get OTA updates in the future.
