service mode menu does not come up in DDJG4. Is there any alternative?

This is the only dumbest thing in DDJG4. I so really want to apply the equalizer fix for better sound quality.
The battery life and speed has been better than JM2 - hence do not want to go back.

haven't had the time to go through the xda-dev thread, so quick questions:

1. does it need root?
2. does it root the phone? :)
3. does it wipe the internal storage?

am on jg4 now and not hyper keen on rooting.

thanks in advance!

1. Yes it needs root.
2. Yes it will root phone automatically if you use "update.zip" method.
3. It does not wipe the internal memory.

I downloaded JM2 firmware before and installed it on my SGS a couple of weeks ago. I now notice that the volume doesn't go up as high. And yesterday, while in a conference call, the other people kept saying that my audio was breaking up and they can't really here me! This afternoon, same thing happened. I did see a posting about some audio equalizer fix. Can somebody throw some light on this? Has anybody else experienced this bad audio quality(i even had headphones..then I removed them!).

Is going to the new firmware for India going to fix the volume and audio issues? With so much ambient noise in India, I think we got used to higher volume level!

regards,

Ashok

You are wrong. Root is required for this lagfix. Without root you cant just move around /data files or create the virtual filesystem(ext2) on a existing filesystem(rfs).

I got the one click fix for lag and followed instructions...however, it seems like while it is creating the data partition something went wrong and now, when i reboot the device come up part way and then the screen goes blank and I just have the left and right buttons on the bottom light up...and nothing!

I went back into the manual boot mode, cleared the cache and restarted but it didn't do anything :( Now what can I do to recover? Do I have to use Odin and reflash from begining or can I do something to atleast get back the device and back-up my applications etc?

any help greatly appreciated...

I went back to JM2 after using DDJG4 rooted for a couple of days... noticed higher battery drain with the exact same usage and apps. Anyone else share the same experience?
Does JG4 actually have higher battery drain or is it just me imagining??

I updated from my factory ROM JF3 and I find JG4 is far netter both in terms of barrery usage and performance...but yeah I never tried JM2 so cant compare that

allright guys... i didnt wipe the battery stats after i jumped onto DDJG4. probably thats why the battery life appeared messed up.

Will flash DDJG4 tomorrow morning.
