Looking forward to this. I will have to wait till Monoprice gets more cables in at the beginning of next month though to give it a try if it comes out soon.
 
This would be awesome just to take the motherboard out of the Droid X (or find one to buy) so I can use it to integrate into my truck and build a media/gps/everything system out of using a custom 7" LCD fabricated into the dash and wired to an amplified audio system. Droid X motherboard is TINY, efficient, fast, wifi, bluetooth, 3G, etc..

Installed - 2 more hours and I will get to play. Cables at home... oh, and btw if you whine enough at Verizon they will sell you the cable for $11, 6 or 8 feet long, can't remember.

and I "think" the cable charges the phone at the same time, when I checked my battery status it stated "since last unplugged", in that time period was when I had it hooked up to the TV, not charging on AC/PC. I will confirm this tonight. Beware though, I've taken some 720 vids and played them on a full HD LG flat screen (1 year old) and the picture is a bit grainy. That could have something to do with the camera though, can't wait to see what this does.

So does this just basically output whatever you seen on the Xs screen to the cable??

that exactly what it does. However so far in the videos Ive seen the x's screen display isn't lit while doing it so it makes it pretty difficult. I am hoping they figure out how to change that in the coming future..

Thanks for posting the video, now I am even more excited for when my cable gets here, hope it doesn't take too much longer!!
 
hdmi cable does *not* charge the phone.

'live' screen output is *only* on the connected display, not the X. you see only the app interface on the X, which makes navigation essentially impossible.

also, external display does not rotate.

i bought, tried, and returned. a fine proof of concept, but not ready for prime-time, IMHO. once they have display mirroring and rotation down, i'll be back.

It will be pretty funny when those features are added if the price goes up to $4.99 which the app will be worth at least that if not more, I know I would pay more! :cool:
 
^This is the reason I'm buying it now....remember we didnt even know if this was gonna be possible.
