Help "DROID" sound on boot in Froyo 2.2

Annoying as all can be, at least to me, turning on the phone and having it yell "DROID" everytime, particularly when people are around.

Anyone know a way to turn it off without rooting?

Would be much appreciated!

Without Rooting? None that come to mind, except for turning the volume to silent or vibrate before restarting.

You could try "Silent Boot" from the market. No idea if it works on the Inc or not. You may be the first to try it on the new 2.2 for that matter. Other than that, I'm with Neco...no way I'm aware of unrooted.

You can change the boot animation and sound without rooting, many have done this including myself. You can leave out the sound file when you do, which will silence the boot-up sound, I just don't know if anyones posted the location of these files in 2.2. I know they have been moved.

Check out this thread, it gives details:

Incredible boot animation

Yeah unfortunately they moved it into System/Customize/Resource in 2.2. I've always run into "read only" problems without Superuser when dealing in system files but maybe there is a workaround idk.
