2.10.405.2 OTA manual update

Can you go into system information (in settings) and provide all the details there? And did you update OTA or with the update file?

What do you mean by no wifi as mine can scan and fine AP with no problems. I cant try connecting as I am still at work and they are secured but it looks OK to me.

Ah - I've just remembered something. Check your router isn't using wifi channel 13 - as I'm fairly sure the new radio doesn't work with this.

Perhaps I'm missing something. But I'm (still) unable to apply the update.

1) I loaded update.zip on sdcard
2) switch phone on using power+vol_down
3) select recovery
4) phone reboots with HTC logo being shown
5) black screen with a Desire with alert triangle on it being shown

what am I missing?

Thx

Thanks Teppic.

Right, it was updated over the air

It looks like your radio wasn't updated (unless they've taken that out of the OTA update). Can you install the 'wifi analyzer' app and see if it shows any wifi networks?

edit: it also seems your kernel wasn't updated. This doesn't look promising.

Are you certain your phone is unbranded? And were you rooted beforehand or on the completely official 2.09.405.8 version?

If yes to both, HTC's update is broken. You can get them to fix it (which will take a while) or you can try flashing the froyo 2.09.405.8 RUU.

Carphone warehouse sell unbranded phones and just give you the sim (which is nice!) I'll pop in at the weekend and see what they say.. ..failing that I guess I'll have to get HTC to fix it...

They may just replace it for you, but I expect they'll want to send it off for repair which can take two or three weeks.

If you flash the froyo RUU you will restore the phone (it's basically a complete reset).

Which one of those figures is the one to check that the radio has been updated?

Others on XDA had the same issue with the radio/kernal not updating correctly. Flashing the RUU sorted things IIRC

My fault, sorry. I looked twice at the infos in post #1 but didn't noticed the posts below about the "red triangle".

Next time I'll look once more before asking ;)
No problem really, in a way I put it that way so others having this 'problem' would notice (it caught me out too!). As it does seem to be catching many out I guess it would be helpful if the first post was updated with the info - teppic74?

Unh.

For information...

I went back to 1.21.405.4 and got the 2.10.405.2 OTA over WiFi and it flashed the radio so sounds like this install didn't work correctly
