Software Update Coming to Fascinate, i500.DI01 (Not 2.2)

Well my build number is still DH12 :(
I think you have to rebloat, a few have had to do that to get this thing to work. They probably have updates for that crap in the release, so it's probably erroring out because its not there.

How is it that one poster was able to install the update with root and removed bloatware and removed Bing, and another had root but had to restore bloat and Bing, and here I am rooted with having restored Bing and I never removed bloat but just hid it with LauncherPro and I'm still getting fail.

I am so happy to report that my email acct is now working!!!!!!!!!!! I have it set to 5 mins to check for testing and it worked!!!!

Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

Rooted w/lag fix.

download and installed the package, it would load to the home screen, but X amount of time later, would reboot into recovery.

Everytime I reboot, would load, but then reboot itself again back to recovery.

Now it gets stuck on the Verizon screen, then the screen goes black and nothing.

Great. now what?

<rooted, debinged>
first.. turn off the wifi

after i did that.. everything was a-ok.

all done!

scratch that.. it's doing something again.. rebooting..

i think something is wrong... 3rd reboot.. got some type of error screen.

crap.. it wiped a bunch of stuff. will update when i find out what went wrong.

<wiped all launcher pro info.. and settings..>

welcome to my world, i'd rather not do a factory reset just for this update.

Rooted with no lag fix.. checked my system about and hour ago and it found an update. Downloaded fine.. load time at the Verizon logo was longer than usual but no problems and I'm up to date officially but just realized that I did lose root.. interesting

After you restore bloatware, it will download, reboot, install update, reboot and you will be stuck at verizon logo for a few minutes. That is normal. Give it up to 5-8 minutes.

After which log you in to your phone.

One thing, you will lose ROOT. :(

WHAT?? Really?

So, you do lose root? I'm glad it failed for me then (for some reason). After reading that, I hit reject next time it offered.

PS: I was scared I bricked my phone. It froze for a good 10 minutes during the update, with the progress bar at like 90% -- then flashed a line of red text before rebooting to find nothing changed.

Mine updated fine and I did not lose root. Not sure why the reports about success are all over the map.

*nevermind. I did lose root though I was able to successfully upgrade with a rooted device with all the fixin's.

I need my phone to work, so I restored did a factory wipe. Do you still retain data like call logs and texts? Cus even though I'm back to the terrible touchwiz, lost my root and contacts/emails, i still have my call logs?

Just did it with reboot.

Setting-About Phone-System update-check New.

It found and followed instruction. Done.
Let's see what happen.

I'm just curious that why it didn't let us know automatically like notification.

Well I'm still not able to update...the error I get is update failed or incomplete. reason: IP_PREVIOUS_UPDATE_FAILED.

It downloads the update and then gets to install and update modem takes forever, then it reboots and takes me to the failed screen. I give up. These fixes are all that to me.

Same here. Thats why I was afraid it was bricked, when it took so long.

Well, did you turn off your wi-fi? I'm not sure it will conflict if it's truned on or not but try without it. You already turned off and update...don't know what to say :-(

It took about 4-5 min, screen will stock with verizon logo for a while.
Good luck.

My wifi is turned off...I was the first poster in this thread to point out it won't work over wifi.

I don't know why it's not working but it's not important enough to keep messing with it. Having said that if a more substantial update comes along I'm going to likely be back in the same boat. But I suppose I could unroot at that point and see where I end up.

I am rooted and I keep getting the update failed prompt as well... I did remove bloatware, but I accidentally must've deleted NFS Shift and Tetris instead of renaming them like I did with others, I hope this is not preventing the update!!
