2.10.405.2 OTA manual update

It would have been good if Google had taken the opportunity to add an HID bluetooth stack, or to better integrate the Gmail app to the system communications options.

Hi,

I have some trouble to update my HTC desire from 2.09.405.8 to 2.10.405.2 !
I have my goldcard on my phone, go to Setting, About the phone, then check software update.
He found a new update, i download it.
Then he ask me to install the update, i press OK, the phone reboot.
Then a menu show up with by default, FASTBOOT.
I press power button to switch to HBOOT, something show up for 1 sec, like no image found or something. I select recovery and it's go back to the fastboot menu.

I try to download the update, put as update.zip on sdcard, but it's the same problem.
Can someone help me ?

Sorry for my poor english ;)

Regards,

Nomis

I rooted my Desire using the unrevoked method and put froyo 2.2 2.09.405.8 and the OTA update to 2.10.405.2 wont load, trying the solution mentioned in the 1st post but the update hangs and wont load, it gives some error and reboots the phone. As I didnt use the gold card method to root the phone has anyone got any suggestions or has overcome putting this update on the phone?

If you're device was previously branded you need a gold card for ALL future updates. Having said that, you can't put the OTA update on a rooted phone as it tends to screw things up. Best go back to stock 2.2 and then run the OTA again. Or just run the 2.10.405.2 RUU

You don't change to HBOOT, just leave the OTA to update itself...don't touch anything until complete

If you debranded to FroYo then you'd have been on 2.09.405.8.

Download this:

http://fotadl.htc.com/OTA_Bravo_HTC_EU_2.10.405.2-2.09.405.8_releaseol2djq7rqarka2ka.zip

and rename it update.zip (not update.zip.zip) and copy it to the root of your gold card. Turn the Desire off.

Now, hold volume down and press power to get into HBOOT. Select 'Recovery' and once at the red ! hold volume up and press power. Select 'apply SD:update.zip' and follow the instructions.

You should now be working

Hi Eddie,

Thanks for that post - I assume it was intended for me - even though I deleted by post and replaced it with a "."

I deleted post 'cos I found the old RUU Link - and I did indeed update with that stock Froyo ROM you refer to.

So, you're saying that even though I did an OTA update with goldcard NOT in phone this morning, I should be able to rectify the situation by simply reinstalling it manually?

I hope this is the case. Please confirm.

Thanks mate!

Brad

Yep, just do what I put on my last post and it should reinstall the OTA update and so long as your gold card is in use it'll complete

Eddy - you're a champ. Ducked home at lunchtime, found goldcard, and re-installed the update. WiFi working as per normal.

Thanks again mate!

Can anyone confirm that wifi works after this with an Orange debranded Desire? I debranded it and am currently on 2.09.405.8 but have seen some issues with Orange debranded Desires losing their wifi, and I don't really want to do this if there is a risk of it not working. Thanks.

Thanks. Could you also tell me whether updating via this will update my HBOOT as well?

Hi, I did update OTA today on a de-branded un-rooted Desire. The goldcard was in the phone and all is fine except for the Wifi error. I have tried (many times) to do a manual update using the update files above. I have also made a second goldcard.
The error I'm getting when manually updating is:
assert failed: file_getprop("/system/build.prop"
. "ro.build.fingerprint") == "htc_wwe/htc_bravo/bravo/
bravo/bravo:2.2/FRF91/218634:user/release-keys"
|| file_getprop("/system/build.prop". "ro.
build.fingerprint") == "htc_wwe/htc_bravo/bravo/
bravo:2.2/FRF91/226611:user/release-keys"
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted

Thanks in advance

Ian
