Android 2.0.1 Findings!!!

It's not new. I still have 2.0 and my screen has done this since I got the phone 2 weeks ago. I also have the screen set at 1 minute.

I just tried it on my 2.0 and the lock screen has been up for more than a minute without turning itself back off. I have my screen timeout set to 2 minutes.

Not entirely true. The stock email app has force closes too. Either way, those issues should be fixed because its a pain to get them.

the email app is still an APPLICATION. Therefore, the force closes that happen to it are because of the code that it is running. Hell, the home screens are nothing but an application.

I got it this morning (note to others, it will not update if the battery is drained so either keep it charged or bring a charger with you).

The one odd thing that did happen to me is that the facebook app required me to put in my info again. Besides that everything is fine.

Its not the second coming, but it a nice bug fix.

+1 same thing happened to my facebook.

Never had a force close (or even a "wait" message) with the Gmail or Email apps since I got my Droid a month ago...they've been rock-solid for me. Maybe another app you've loaded is causing a bad interaction. (Though I have a ton of apps loaded, as well as two 3rd-party home screens...)

Asking again...can someone w/2.01 test BT voice dialing (as in, can you pair a headset and initiate dialing via voice from the headset to the Droid?).

Thanks!

Patience. Only a small number of Droid owners got the update. I'd guess that only a small number of those use BT in their cars. I'd bet even fewer are members of this forum.

You don't need to have BT in your car...a BT headset will do to test it. :)

I am patient...I just can't stand waiting. ;)

THIS IS BEFORE THE UPDATE!
Is anyone else having issues with the screen fade out during a call. During a call I literally have to set the phone down on a flat surface for the screen to reappear before I can select the button to bring the keypad back up. This is a pain when using voicemail. When I take the phone down from my ear, it fades in and out and wont stay on long enough for me to bring the keypad up. I tried one of the "keep awake" screen programs but they don't work with the phone keypad. I wish I could just turn it off.

This thread is on 2.01...please take your question to a new or different thread. We have enough problems staying on topic as it is... :)

Folks with the update: does the new lock screen carry through to the incoming call lock screen? Does it also have the two pull tabs rather than the round slider thing?

thought I saw pictures of this somewhere on the web, but yea has two pull tab deals now instead of the round slider.

not sure what you mean about "carry through to the incoming call lock screen"

If you have it set to blank in 2 minutes then it is not going to dim until just before 2 minutes. This is assuming that it does this on any setting, which I have not checked. Again, it is not going to dim in 1 minute if you have it set for 2 minutes.

New user here and finding it hard to find threads with my concerns. If you would be so kind as to help a brother out and point him towards the correct thread as everytime I use seach it returns "page can not be displayed"

As far as this being on subject..... I'm hoping that the new release address this issue as well.

What I mean is this: there are two separate lock screens really. #1 for when you wake your phone up to use it. #2 for when your phone was asleep and it gets an incoming call. Basically the same thing but has the name of the incoming call, picture, etc. On my phone they are both the same curved slider. When the OTA updates lock screen #1, does it also change lock screen #2?

Are you describing the normal operation of the "proximity sensor" as being a "problem"?

ah ok, yes the lock screen with an incoming call also has the tabs now too. All the other info looks the same though (caller info).

I just got another force close on the messaging app and now all my sms messages have been erased. This is after the 2.0.1 update I did this morning. I am taking this phone back now.

just got the up date in the morning. i hate the new unlock screen!! Why did the un-center the date, and verizon banner. I really liked the circular slider, now gone:confused:. it gave also gave my phone the ability to shut off whenever it wants to. went tzo verizon store where they kindly did a hard reset on my phone . Seams like i get better coverage now it stoped jumping from one bar to full bars.:D haven't used camera yet

Only weird thing I'm noticing now after updating (manually from the zip) is that the lock screen times out after like 5 seconds regardless of what the screen timeout is set to. Other than that it's awesome, much quicker and more responsive with the home screen and menus.

it now uses the 2 pull tabs to answer and end call

Just updated mine and one thing i noticed is the contact merging now works every time!!
