Root They know how the efuse works? Getting closer to more customr roms?

i'm just quietly lurking in the irc room, waiting for any big news to explode
i can slowly hear the bootloader being cracked, bit by bit

This is making me super excited waiting for this, best news we have had about the X. Cannot wait, hopefully not too much longer!!!!

It's so true. Those Moto people get so flustered with the boot loader cracked stuff. It's too funny. I love how uptight they are and how easily they get their undies in a bunch anytime anyone uses the words root, flashing custom roms, cracking boot loader. hahaha

how do you get in? All I get now is this stuff

It being quiet in there is a good thing. Nenolod is hard at work on making the downloader so we can gather nvram data from various sholes (motorola) dumps, ie D2, DX,..

I'm not saying its going to be fast, and I'm not saying its going to be soon, but it IS happening. They have a great theory and the tech know-how to get it into usable code. Things like this cant, and shouldnt be, rushed :) No one wants a bricked phone! haha

I know everyone is excited, trust me we all are. So I want to personally thank all of you for doing such a great job not asking for updates in the room every 5 minutes. We're in there 24/7 basically, so that can be quite annoying, especially when Nenolod is talking about the important stuff.

So thanks again guys, and hang in there!

well it may be good but its boring:p

Thanks for the update

It's like watching grass grow. But that's not meant in a bad way. These guys are doing some impressive stuff. I don't know the first thing about it but its seems impressive that a small group of hackers. Can undermine Motorola's best efforts to lock this phone down. I wish manufacturers (Motorola specifically) would see this and realize they're wasting money locking these down. You can't stop it.

i know that the whole "i can't believe they locked the bootloader!" stuff has been beaten to death already, but I mean I still really can't believe that motorola did this.

its done nothing but serve up animosity between a certain groups of android users and an oem. the droid1, htc incredible, htc evo, galaxy s phones, etc, etc sold a gazillion phones with an open bootloader, so they can't say it has anything to do with sales.

i get that my vzw isnt keen on replacing "bricked" phones from users, but is a relatively small amount, and motorolas own ota 2.2 bricked more d1's and dx's than any hacking ever did. wireless tether would seem to me the only financial loss facing anyone regarding rooting, but people could use pdanet or something else without root anyway.

you can't make a superphone like the dx and say "sorry we realize that every other android phone ever has been rooted, unlocked, rom-ed, overclocked, but from now on we're not letting you and we ll spend extra money to make sure you don't..oh and heres motoblur the worst ui ever."

i did enjoy the post from motorola forums back when the whole efuse thing started up where the motorola moderator said if you want an open phone go by a nexus1, given that their advocating to go buy a tmobile phone instead of this verizon phone their making.

I hear you but looking at the big picture we are only a small margin of their consumers..

Well They don't have it yet. Heres to hoping

What even makes worse sense is they seem to go out of their way to prevent us from having the tools to fix our phones our self instead of making VZW replace it. It makes no sense from a $$ stand point.

But just try to tell them this on their forums and you'll be in trouble in 5 seconds flat.

Which makes me wonder why they go through all that hassle and extra cost a for such a small group. I can only imagine there is some old fart at the top that just doesn't get that this is a new day and age in the phone market.
I can hear him now
"Open?" Buu humbug!!" "Back in my day we used tin cans with a string and we tied double square shank knots to make sure NO ONE could untie one end! and damn it that's the way we'll do it today!! Damn I wet my depends again!"
