Root [ROM] ApeX V1.0 for Droid X - An AOSP Experience (10/20/10)

P.S. I love how there is like 160mb of ram left after boot. That's why I say this blows away all other ROMs.

For next time this happens to anyone else, You can just double tap the "home" key, say "open market" and then install the launcher of your choice :)

Or you can use a magnet to trigger the car/home dock. Once that triggers, you can create a shortcut to the app market and install the launcher.

The magnet is a surprisingly useful little recovery mechanism.

OK, I think I am ready to take the plunge with this ROM. Currently I am on the original leak (2.3.9) and everything is running smooth which is why I have been hesitant to change. What do I need to do? Sorry I have a lot of questions, I just have things running smooth now with all the blur apps and bloat removed myself for the most part.

When I tried another ROM (I think it was tranquility) there were some things missing like voice input, is anything like that missing from this ROM?

The only thing I like from Blur is the camera, how do I restore that?

When I install this ROM will I be rooted and deodexed or will I have to do that after I install it? Is there any problems installing themes on this ROM?

Are Beasley's build.prop edits built into this ROM? Specifically the LCD mod but the others also are nice.

In the OP what exactly are the Scripts? Do I need to restore those apps if I want them, like calc?

Just read instruction how to install (VERY IMPORTANT!!) it and you will be just fine. After install you still rooted and deodexed.

As far as blur camera, all functions and features all there. Icons are changed, but if you like blur icons better you can always install original blurcamera.apk.

Beasley's tweaks are applied, for exception of LCD mod, but you can install that trough ROM manager. Overall have a great experience and Fab always here to help

All I care about is the features like panoramic mode and the different effects, I couldn't care less about the icon as I just have it hidden in the app drawer anyways. So this is good to know.

BTW, after I made my post I read the OP a little closer and edited my post.

well, panoramic mode working just fine. Did not try scripts yet, but the way I see it, it just make ADB experience much easier.

I haven't tried this ROM yet but with the newer Rubix Focused 0.5 I have 188mb of RAM after boot.

So who has tried this ROM and Rubix Focused 0.5? What are your thoughts?

Tried booth, did not notice significant difference, they run fast and smooth. One little thing tough, on RubiX even with 0.5 I had problem with calendar sync, don't have this problem with this ROM.

Yes, you can install BackUp assist apk, if you really need it. Fab has directions how to do it and .apk you can download here : systemapp2.2.rar

Thanks, the .rar file has backupassistanceclient.apk and backupassistanceclient.odex. I installed the .apk, terminal emulator, su, install backupassistanceclient.apk, but still have no backupassistant. How can I get backup assistant working

Did you restart phone after you installed apk?
