What do your X Screens look like?

Some of these screens are so cluttered I think I'd go crazy!

Lol, yeah which is the best part of having customizable phones on the market. Not everyone wants a phone with 80 shortcuts on their home screen, and not everyone wants a home screen with just a nice looking wallpaper and a clock. You see personally speaking when I see one of the 'clean' looking home screens I agree that it looks very nice, but it also makes me wonder does the user actually do anything with their phone, or do they just like to look at it?

I liken my phone to my closet, if someone were to open my closet they would probably think a tornado ran through it. But I know where everything is in my closet because I put it there. So when I open it, it's organized to me. Same with my phone, when I pull it out of my pocket I know exactly where to go on it to do what I want with it. And I don't concern myself with whether or not anyone else can find their way around on my phone, because nobody else uses my phone.

I know some people just leave everything in their app drawer and open it up when they want to use an app. I can't fault them for doing that if that's what they prefer. But I prefer to make use of my 7 home screens (can't wait until we get 9!!!)!

:D

Alright here is my current screen. I have gone back and forth with having shortcuts all over to going with a cleaner look. However with the swipe gesture with LP and being able to basically have 30 shortcuts on the dock I like the cleaner looking screen.

How do you make the nice looking icons on the dock? I am using LPP and Beautiful Widgets..............is that how?

I did not make them, actually there are links back on the first page of this thread for the droid icons. Then just get them on to your SD card and then a long press on the dock icon and change the icon to one of them. LPP is great!

Here a few setups I had in the past few weeks. I have moved to a Halloween theme now.

Does anyone know of an app that can open up a folder of my favorite contacts and let me use the quick tasks? I want to use it a a swipe gesture on LP.

I have been looking for something similar, but I do not believe there is anything out there to do it. I have been thinking about writing my own but my Java is a little rusty.

I did have my favorites on my launch bar using the stock Android favorites folder. If you long press on the LP dock and select change shortcut, you can select dialer and it will give you an option of Favorites, Recent Calls, and Dialer. That will get your favorites folder on the LP dock. But all you can do is select one from there. I don't know of any way to use a swipe gesture with that though.

I have my contacts on the dock bar and when I swipe it launches my favorites.

It's funny you mention that because I feel the same but with people who have tons of icons and widgets and 7 home screens. I'm one of those people that have a super clean home screen with a clock and wallpaper. I only have one other screen and that has the switchpro widget.

From there I can quickly toggle wi-fi, bluetooth, gps, battery level, screen brightness and vibrate modes.

Since I have Launcher Pro I can do a whole lot and take up almost no screen real estate. Since LPP has a scrollable dock and swipe gestures, I can have basically 30 actions just from using the icons on the dock.

For instance, here are my 15 icons in my dock. The first part is what I get with a regular press and second is the swipe gesture. The third row of icons I don't have any swipe gesture since I don't really need them:

1) dialer - jorte calendar
2) email - drops down the notification bar which I have hidden
3) app drawer - App organizer
4) browser - Car Home
5) text messaging - Google Talk
6) Games folder - Audio Manager
7) multimedia app folder - Camera
8) navigation - Google Maps
9) tools folder - Catch Notes
10) system folder - System Settings
11) App Brain
12) Android Marketplace
13) Flashlight
14) Barcode Scanner
15) System Panel

That's a hell of a lot of things I can do with just my dock icons and one widget with room to add 5 more swipe gestures if I need them. Especially when you consider that icons like 7) opens up a window with all the multimedia apps I have classified with folder organizer. I realize this takes one more step than having a widget on one of the screens but I'll gladly sacrifice a small bit of efficiency for a clean UI.

You were right when you said that best part of Android is that it allows you to setup things the way you like and I think it's awesome that we can both be at opposite ends of the spectrum and love the way our phones look and work.

May I make a suggestion for the next time you post screen shots? Make them a little smaller.

I found Smart Shortcuts for now. It doesn't do quick tasks but it shows my favorites with a gesture.

The size is fine LOL, just maybe we don't post 3 or 4 different set ups all together! ;)

Sorry, they were smaller in the preview and side by side so it wasn't as long. I cut some out to make it no longer than some of the other posts.

I still left the variety so I didn't have to make multiple posts so if anyone wanted them I could upload them and share. Already had 4 PMs requesting them so someone liked them. I didn't mean to take half a page though. :)

I can't help those that quoted the whole post though.

Do you tell everyone that on this thread that posts that size pics or just me because you love me? :)

Ummm. I'm not sure how to answer that one. :p (It was more to do with the fact that it took up so much space with so many pics, and then there are the genius folks who decide the quote the whole freaking thing!! You know who you are.)
