Root [ROM] ApeX V1.0 for Droid X - An AOSP Experience (10/20/10)

I am loving this ROM but the status bar is killing me. I really like the BigDXSerenity themes, but I don't want to put a lot of crap back on the phone that is now removed.

Can anyone recommend a good theme for at least the status bar? I like NexTheme, but I need something until Fab has that theme ready for this ROM.

Incognito has a blurless version. Only one I know of.

you can use 7zip to open up the theme zips and remove the apk files you dont want.

If I do that will it cause any problems with the theme installing? That is what I wanted to try I just wanted to be sure before I tried anything.

Do I just go into theme/system/app and delete the apk's that I don't want and then install it like normal?

Do I need to change anything with services.jar or framework? Also there is a blur-res.apk file, do I delete that? Anything with blur I want to delete if I can so it doesn't mess up this great ROM.

Sorry if I sound like a noob, I just normally install a theme then remove the themed apps I don't want.

chrlswltrs, check post above yours

I saw that, if I can just remove elements of a theme I would rather do that, and I like the different icons in the notification bar.

I am not worried about the slider because I use widget locker anyways.

I installed this ROM this morning and am really liking it so far. My only issue is that my battery life seems to be quite a bit worse than with the Verizon 2.2 OTA. I even went so far as to do a factory reset after installing ApeX. What are other people experiencing for bat life?

so question: since i havent themed yet. i am loving this rom. i want to go with a minimalist theme. text and simple icons. is this accomplished with themes or just with launchers? which way is better? i have used LP before but dont want to slow this rom down.

theming should not slow it down. many themes include updated icons for the app tray. however if you just want to theme the launcher icons you can do that within launcher pro, adw or many other launchers.

I just installed, and just like before the apk installs, but does not work. It closes as soon as it opens. Did you actually try to run the app, or did you just install it?

Thanks
Ted

I installed it and run it.
How exactly you installed it?

This is the backup assistant, right? Did you also delete the .odex file too?

Just installed Apex today and it looks great except I can't make phone calls text or use 3g haha is there something I'm missing?

There's something really wrong. Did you format /system, /data, and /cache?

@ Fab,

First off, Thank you for ApeX.
I'm loving it.
Flawless and painless install.
Installed the hotfix exactly as per your instructions...

I've only had one problem:
Under Menu settings, I went to accounts and tried to add Yahoo Mail.
It fails to add it everytime.
Can't get my Yahoo email added under my accounts.
EDiT:
A window pops up, says
"Error, Could not connect to server"

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank You For Your Time :D

Is there any advantage to using the included Wireless compared to the other free ones on the market?

Only reason I ask is because I never installed the fix that stops the force closing. I already installed a Galaxy S theme that seems to be working perfectly and I had hate to break it from installing this zip since it makes changes to the dailer, etc.

Also mad props. This is my first experience with Root and Roms and Themes. Always saw your name pop up on the forums always being helpful so I knew I had to use your ApeX rom.
