Best Sense based ROM out there???

When you click the Link - It takes you to the XDA site - usually the first post in the thread has a Link to download the ROM.

Ok, I'm dumb, I see it. On NFX, which one should I click? What's the difference between 'deodex' and 'odex'?

I'm currently downloading CM6 through Rom Manager. Once it's completed, do I have to flash it now or can I just keep it on my sd until I'm ready to flash?

--Ok. I'm done downloading and found out that I don't have to flash it immediately, but when I go to install from sd I can't find CM6 anywhere. The notification is still in the bar from Rom Manager, but I don't want to install it yet (it's almost my bed time - hey, I gotta work tomorrow to pay for this thing). What is the name supposed to look like in the file on the sd card?

DeoXed Allows Themes and is Slower I believe - Read through the thread - All your answers will be found!~!

You can just keep on you SD card if you want to.... Won't hurt anything except for Space on the SD Card.

First, did you also download the gapps? You will need them for the market, gmail...Here http://mirror.teamdouche.net/get/various/gapps-mdpi-20101008-signed.zip

Nandroid (which you have done)

Next: Go into the rom manager application and you will see 'Reboot into Recovery' (top of the screen). Press it and then press OK to reboot into recovery. Screen will have the white HTC screen and then you will be in recovery.

Next: Using the ball to scroll, go to 'Wipe data/factory reset'. Press it, then scroll down and press yes (it will wipe all data). Then scroll to 'Wipe cache partition'. Press it and say yes. Then, go to advanced and press it, and you will see 'Wipe Davlik Cache'. Press it and say yes. Then hit the back button

Now everything is wiped and you are now ready to flash the rom and the gapps.

Next: Go to 'Install zip from sd card' and press it. It will go to a screen with everything that is on your SD Card. Find the 'download' file and press it. You should see the CM6 zip file that you downloaded and you will also see the gapps zip file. Press the CM6 zip file first and press yes. Then the zip will be downloaded. Once it says 'installation complete', the rom has been flashed.

Now, you will have to flash the gapps. Go to 'Install zip from sd card' again, go to 'download', press the gapps zip file and press yes to install. It will then install the gapps. Then at the bottom, you will 'installation complete'.

Next: Press the back button and will see 'Reboot phone' and then press it. Phone will reboot, you will see white htc screen, then you will see the blue CyanogenMod skateboard screen with lightening going around it. Give it about 5-10 minutes.

You will then sign in with your google account and then you are good to go.:D Sign in and then set up your new phone, lol

In the walkthrough I read on the CM6 official website, it says using the 'Rom Manager easy method' allows me to add the Google stuff during the install of CM6 as long as I tick the correct options (there are two options, the other is to do a factory reset I think). Can I not actually do it that way?

If that's the method you feel most comfortable with, then do it that way.

The way I wrote it is in recovery, not through the rom manager application

I've used Fresh, Zen, NFX, RegawMod, and a few others including nfinitefx45's stock roms deodexed...

I personally think that NFX is the best of what I've used. Although, I'm a ROM junkie and I switch about every few days.

The best thing to do is just Nandroid and try all the ROMS you can find until you find one you really like. They all have they're own little quirks. By far, Fresh and NFX are the two most stable ROMS I have ever used... So, if you want stable, snappy, disaster-free daily wear, I'd use one of those two.

Currently running AOSPv.7 - Fast snappy - stable.
You do have to flash gapps and sprint VVM

Only issue seems to be a bit of a battery hog -
Going to try to wipe battery stats and see how that goes.

We seem to be getting a little off topic from the thread title...Best Sense based ROM. Just sayin... it makes it hard for new folks coming here looking for info on sense based ROMs to have to read thru the posts about AOSP and CM6. :)

JB - What are Pro's and Cons of Fresh and Zen ?

Both are very good, and can be Over Clocked, using a custom kernel and OC Widget, or SetCPU.

After trying many other Roms, between the two you mentioned, I used ZenEXP first, and really liked it, but it needed alot of customizations to make it the way I liked it. Kept it several weeks. The icons have a box around them (iPhone like), which I didn't like, (but can be fixed) and the Sprint VVM was an add on, and it gave the annoying text with missed calls, which can be fixed by blocking in Handcent (not in stock messaging, at least while I was using it) ...Occasional Force Close on Sense, and a few other blips, that I don't remember. All in all, and once set up, I was good. I like the blue (instead of Green) throughout. Good battery life (with OC widget slowing things down while sleeping) It is a fast rom. This is based on a NON-CDMA NON-Sprint phone, so hence all the "fixes" required.

Fresh (I'm still using 2.3.3 here) Very nice. Fast, stable, most stock looking ROM, no dialer lag. Many and easy customizations available if you want them, but not required. VVM works, no annoying txets for missed calls or VVM. Easy to add or delete Sprint Bloatware. Great battery life, better than Zen, IMHO (again, using custom kernel and OC Widget) ...I have used this ROM for several months now, the longest of any ROM I have used, and really like not having to fuss with it daily or weekly. Nothng about this ROM feels or looks anything other than professional. I have no desire to even try anything else...

I can't think of anything else, was a long day...

JB: What kernel are you overclocking with? I also have settled pretty well on Fresh 2.3.3 but would like to overclock. Recommendations?

V4 710 Be sure to read the whole first post, and be sure to NANDROID before doing anything....and use the Moduleremover. I have had ZERO problems with mine, runnning OC Widget at 245 and 710 screen on, and 245 and 480 Screen off.
