Root [ROM] ApeX V1.0 for Droid X - An AOSP Experience (10/20/10)

Are you only changing the frequencies?

Most of the OC files posted by others have increased the stock voltages to get higher speeds. Fab's overclock only increases the frequency, not the voltage. So if you're just changing the frequencies, you won't get the higher frequencies without increasing voltage.

I'm trying to user the exact same script that I had been successfully using for the last couple of days. After installing apex 1.0 I can no longer use the same settings.

Would you mind posting your settings for 1.2Ghz? I'm running well at 1.1 but my phone didn't like the 1.38 that someone posted yesterday.

300000000/23
600000000/33
900000000/52
1200000000/64

Still have a little instability, about the same amount of reboots I had before overclocking but the phone flies now. Trying to tweak it after each reboot to make it more stable, but performance has been good

FAB!! Your work is flawless, as usual, dude!

Only question I have is (and let me just say, I'm new to the X, coming from an OG Droid), is replacing the boot animation the same as it was on the original Droid and D2? Just find the bootanimation.zip I want and drop it in Data/local or somewhere similar? This ROM is exaclty what I've been looking for since I got my X, Nextheme included, but that AOSP boot animation has to go..hehe

Only oddity I've noticed so far is that regardless of what mode I use for my USB connection, it always seems to be in Mass Storage mode. Tried a battery pull and didn't seem to phase it. I did a system/data/cache wipe before installing and RC2 didn't do it. Kinda a bummber not having access to my SD card when I'm charging my phone during the day. =(

Fab,

any reason i should jump to this over RC2? other than the BT fix?

is there a BT update fix for rc2?

+1

I am running with no issues on RC2 and overclocked with the 1.38 code that was placed out there yesterday. My phone is already flying, but if there is a good reason to jump up to V1 I will.

Thanks!

Yes, you can just place a new animation in the data/local folder.

1.0 is ROCKIN!!!!!

Maybe it's just me but it appears to be faster and snappier...

Keep up the GREAT work Fab... Lovin V1

I am not trying to answer for Fab, since this is his baby but I come from a Linux background and usually the dev will not release bug fixes for a specific RC... What they generally do is release another RC... So in this case it would have been RC3 if the dev (Fab in this case) did not think the ROM was ready for primetime / official release...

If they did it the other way, they'd spend half their time supporting previous and non official releases....

I understand that. however 1.0 was released with default overclocking. not everyone will want that. and some phones will bootloop if they don't like the predetermined settings and will need to sbf. who knows maybe there will ne a 1.5 without OC.

Have you tried

Code:
su
overclock -off

Excited about the new release. Is it rediculous that overclocking didn't play nice with my RC2 but I'm at work now and am going to go ahead and flash the newest rom anyways? Haha. Obsessed. If my wife would let me spend the money, I'd probably buy a new phone every couple of months as well.

Don't hate me, Fab. :( I have a question regarding the messaging application you supplied with this. How do I get contact pictures to show up in here? I have all their pictures synced via Facebook, but none of them show up unless I set them manually. So is there anyway to use them in there? I have the application and the Facebook account built in both signed in and syncing, but neither will add their pictures to the app.

Does anyone have any anecdotes on battery life vs. stock? Or are Moto's power management measures retained in ApeX?

I was getting insane (long) battery life from RC2.... Have only had V1 on for about 2 hours now so it's to early to tell but thus far it looks to be on par with RC2...

I use syncmypix. It's an awesome app!
