X for Fascinate..... Don't be stupid!

I give them credit for those types of advances in the market. However I can't over look the fact that they seem very non-consumer friendly, load down their phones with annoying software that you're not supposed to uninstall, and IMO have TOO MANY options coming out. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate a nice selection just as much as the next guy. But man it seems as though they're really going over board with the amount of devices they continue to come out with..

I like Microsoft's WP7 policy when it comes to the carriers. They will be able to use 4 squares to put whatever they want on a wp7 put it MUST be uninstallable. I really think Google needs to start making a few demands on these carriers if they are going to use their free OS and making crap ware uninstallable should be number 1.

I agree. i know a handful of people witht he LG Ally. Well its full for them and no 2.2 for app2sd. But atleast its loaded with a bunch of crap they dont want and cant get rid of...

Thats like put a rubber on, does not feel the same.

haha, thats a good one.

basically if you like the x....good, if you like the fascinate....good

both are great phones and will make whoever has the happy in all likelyhood.

for me its just motorola is heading down a bad path which i feel leads to total device lockdown (or at least the attempt to) whereas samsung doesnt really seam to care about doing that for the moment.

I originally bought bought a Samsung Fascinate but with the poor call quality and GPS issues I swapped it for my X. I just added the extended battery and couldn't be happier.
What you said.
And I'm a girl, too funny the stereotypical comments about men and droids and women and Fascinates.... :p

And just like a rubber you probablly have one to be safe anyways. Now don't you?

Interesting Question though. How many do not put a case on their phones?
I don't. I hate cases and screen protectors. My phone must be naked. Besides, I have insurance with Verizon, so if anything happens I will just get another one.

We're not trying to be sexist or stereotypical, women are just very rare on this board. You are an exception around here, not the norm.

I was just at the mall looking at cases and there were two young girls getting cases for their Chocolates. One of them looked at my phone and then said to her friend, "damn check out that guys phone, it's humongous"! And her friend's reply was, "wow, must be a guy thing".

That seems to be most womens take on the DX, EVO & the other big screen phones. I'm glad you like the device though. :)

I went into the Verizon store to purchase an X. I'm very glad I did not just go up to the counter directly to do that, but went out onto the display area and spent some time going back and forth with the Fascinate, X and Droid 2.

My mind was made up when it occurred to me that I kept looking forward to getting back to the Fascinate while messing with the X. The 2 was out of the running after just a single two or three minute session with it.

I remember going back to the X one last time to adjust the screen brightness up in an effort to see if it would compare more favorably with the Fascinate. Nope. Not for my eyes, anyway. ;)

When I was getting my new phone, I was comparing the X and Fascinate. I got the X because the screen was more real looking, the Fascinate looked almost fake. It bothered me so I went with real.

I had the Fascinate for about 2 weeks and loved it at first. Then the GPS really started to become a problem. Not to mention the POOR POOR reception and call quality I was getting. In my apartment, I would get 0-2 bars while my girlfriend's Droid X would get 3 or 4. Because of this, everything was slow when I tried to do them in my apartment. Calls were bad. Text messages sometimes didn't send. I couldn't download apps for the life of me in my apartment. It was just too much.

Plus Touchwiz looked like a user interface that was made for 5 year olds. The colors are just too much. I think they did that just to make the Fascinate seem more eye-popping with all its colors. As soon as I switched phones, friends were already commenting on how much better they could hear me now.

A co-worker and her husband went to the Verizon store with me. They both ended up with Xs because of the "coolness factor," she said.

I think I agree with that, even though I'm (mumble) years old; the X and the Droid both have a certain appeal.

Have we learned nothing from the eris? LoL get the phone that is the best PHONE first! ;)

For all the bells and whistles (IE camera, screen, build, etc..), all of which I originally purchased the phone for, what KEEPS me in the X is three things.

1. Speed - The X is the fastest phone I've ever used

2. Call Quality and signal strength - I grouped these together because i think they go hand in hand. I've never had a phone with better reception (those from my days with the Eris know this was a HUGE deal for me). Also with the X I can talk on the phone while driving down the road with the windows down and the noise cancellation is so good I come thru crystal clear to the other person.

3. The Pictures/Videos - I know the 8mp fools alot of people into thinking the X takes great pictures, but just look thru the thread here http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid-x/123502-post-pictures-you-have-taken-your-droid-x.html . Tell me another phone that takes these kinds of photos, has a macro mode, panoramic, multi shot, and 8mps. And 720p video recording is amazing.

Well my X did all the bad things you've listed about the SF. I don't put too much stock into the bars, that's a software thing and they can make it do anything they want. Heck my Incredible never had more than 1 but it worked just fine. So bars smars if it works it works.

In my Office at work I have VERY bad reception and I was happy when my X worked there (most of the time.) I was worried about the SF but it seems the same as the X here and maybe a little better the X would go from 3g to 1x to nothing to 3g like the signal was a wave. The sf seems more consistent although it basically does the same here, just not as bad. But I've only had a two days so who knows what I'll think in a week.
the X also has a wifi problem where is drops and connected over and over and that would make my phone act like there was no connection to the internet. It was so bad at times I had to turn off wifi and only use 3g.

Yeah TW sucks but like all android phones you are free to change the launcher. I put LPP on the SF and it looks just like my X did.Only smaller and brighter :D

so far I'm liking the SF but like I said I haven't had it long:cool:

And if your into hacking/modding the SF is the only way to go. I'm completely turned off by Moto's tactics to the mod community and how they switched bootloader keys to render the 2.1 sbf useless and turned it into a brick making device. So I don't plan on ever buying another Moto product again and I've told them so.

well unless you're blowing the picture up all those MP don't mean a thing.

I'm going to try and load the X's camera app in the SF and see what happens:eek: Who knows all the apks the X's camera uses? I know they have more than one.
