Okay so I JUST emailed the developer of xscope when I read the earlier post above. By the time I was done reading every post, he had already sent it to me. Amazing! I'm on it right now and I love the tabs and percentage meter. Its very fast. I'm not going back to the default browser:)

Was it that hard? Figured out the swipe down from the tab to get the url and nav bar, and then a swipe left gave the rest of the options. The rest is from the menu button. Swiping left and right to go through tabs is nice. Wish I could do that with apps.

I had to look it up to find out about swipe left/right. I couldn't see it on the screen or by hitting menu. I was stumped. (android newb, I guess)

Going to give Dolphin a shot.

having used webos before it just seemed like second nature. Plus I get used to swiping around to see if it does anything. Figured the top bars were hidden somehow and the left/right tab swiping just happened when I moved a page over and it flicked to the next tab.

I liked dolphin in the past but not in its current version. Loaded xscope and haven't looked back. I think everyone getting the full app for free should still donate to the developer. The browser is probably one of the top four apps used. The guy definitely deserves a few bucks for the effort, provided you're keeping it.

Good to hear you're enjoying it! Most functional browser IMO.

i posted in this thread ive tried skyfire and now dolphin hd but it seems that for some pages the stock browser i look at ign.com regularly and found that it ran best on the stock browser for the simple fact that the ad images on the border of the webpage actually moved where in dolphin or skyfire it didnt...thats just my experience

I used the stock browser too until I found out Tor made browsers from Android devices. It's not on the Android Market, but the beauty of Android is the ability to use third-party apps.

Stock for now. I like Opera, it's fast and smooth (especially the tabs, they're beautiful) but I miss multitouch and text wrapping. Dolphin was ugly and clunky. Skyfire isn't bad but the laggy looking tabs kills it for me, plus it doesn't seem that smooth overall (imo). Xscope is okay but I didn't like it very much, too complicated. Firefox will be cool once it's finished, it's slow and buggy now with no text wrapping.

I can't wait to give the new Opera a try once it launches.

i just got xScope and I love it. the main problem with the stock browser is that its too plain. half the time i dont even know how many windows are open. it resembles chrome, just a lot more options than stock

i got dolphin hd, skyfire, and xscope on the phone. i'm waiting for the one 'browser' to rule them all. :)

and i believe that will be the new Opera Mobile coming in a few days/weeks.

i found that xscope is slightly faster than the others, but some time it couldn't render a page correctly. i like all three for power surfing, but they all have quirks that i hope Opera Mobile will cover them all (or have the least of quirks).

stock browser is okay for quick simple browsing, 2.2 gives it more options and oomph (my experience from Evo).

here's phandroid's post, Opera Mobile 10.1 tomorrow, the 9th: http://phandroid.com/2010/11/05/opera-mobile-10-1-beta-being-launched-november-9th/

I gave xscope trial from the market a go and it was nice but still took it back to stock. Something just wasnt quite the same. The older xscope I wasnt big on and it somehow erased all my favorites from stock browser. I used that one for about an hour before dumping it.

Dolphin HD. I will check out Opera Mobile when it comes out next week.

Tried Skyfire and it force closed on the first flash video I tried to watch.

Stock here. I like the pinch to zoom capability. Wish it had a tabbed interface. The ability to reverse the colors (to a dark bkgd/white text) would be nice too.

using opera mobile right now. so far so good. very fluid. though i need to tap each time to get the text to frame right where xscope did it automatically. haven't tried firefox yet.
