Size Matters

I know this has been discussed before but I was curious what people think now that the phone has been out for over 4 months.
What do you think of the physical size of the phone, is it too big, do you get used to the size, would you prefer a smaller one but Motorola isnt offering one now?

Been on the fence for getting an x for some time. Torn between the X and the Inc but I dont like some of the things I read about the Inc. Only thing holding me back for the X is the size and if it is pocketable or not.

I'm a male 6 feet 2 inches tall

+1 bankswood. my thoughts exactly. I played around with an iPhone and my brother's D2 and the screen just feels too small to do anything. The screen on the DX doesn't feel too big, nor the phone itself. It seems to be the perfect size.

Edit: I'm also 6'2 and it's nicely proportional

I agree the size of this phone is perfect. I honestly could not go to a phone with a smaller screen now.

I think the design on how thin the phone is really helps. This goes in my pockets all the time and I have no problems that (slacks or jeans).

My wife and I are both getting 7 android inch tablets for Christmas this year, now that is too big for a phone.

agree with everything stated...once you play with it for a little you can't seem to use a smaller screened phone. It feels thinner then the galaxy s and way thinner then the evo. I promise you'll fall in love within 2 hours of using it

I'm also 6'2" with large hands and this is the first phone that I don't have a problem with fat fingering my messages. As the others have said, once you get the X anything small will become useless as a web browser or video/photo viewer. I'd like to see them come out with a 4.5" screen or maybe even a 4.7 although a 4.7 might be a bit to big of a phone even for big guys but the 4.3" screen could be tad bigger and still be viable as a mobile phone.

Well, I will break the string of "it's not too big" comments.

I think it is a little too big.. The phone doesn't fit comfortably in a pants pocket (for me).

The first MotoDroid did..

Having said that, I do like the big screen.

I would probably be comfortable with the Droid 2, though this issue is not that important, I'll stick with the X for now.

I am 6'3.

By the way, I did find the sleeve/holster combo to be helpful. The sleeve has a knurled finish which makes the phone less 'slippery'... That helps in handling the large phone..

I had the exact same concerns. But, after coming from the Inc, I am happy I did switch to the X and have grown quite used to the size...think I may prefer it now. The only possible downside to the Inc is size and lack of HTC Sense (easily overcome), everything else works better!

I'm 6 foot tall with smallish hands, and coming from an iphone 3Gs, I love this phone. The larger screen makes it much easier to browse the web and read ebooks. The physical size of the phone feels good to me, and it fits in my pocket pretty well. I usually keep it in a jacket pocket, but my jeans are fine too. I don't think I'd want the screen any bigger though, this one I am just barely able to use one handed. I think I would be happy with a 4" screen too, but any bigger than 4.3" would probably be just a little too big. I think the DX strikes a great balance.

Motorola does make smaller phones. They are called the Droid, the Droid 2, the Droid R2D2 and the Droid Pro.

Personally, I love them all. I also love the Droid Incredible. No locked bootloader like the DX I own. I'm a bigtime rooter/Romer/Themer.

I completely agree. The phone is beautifully designed and my hat goes off to the engineers.

It actually seems like a perfect width/height for my hand with the way I will cup the phone and use my thumb around the screen. The rubbery finish seals the deal with handling the phone.. didn't care for the plastic feel of the Fascinate.

+1 to the majority of posts above.

I'm 6'3" and it fits fine in my big mitts - I could even go for a 4.5" screen (as long as it's 1024 x 720:D)...maybe the DX2 next year?

I think it feels small, yeah I just said that, when I put it in my pocket, it's so thin sometimes I have to double check to see if it's there. It feels much smaller than my BB did in my pocket.

im 6'5" 280 so im like a football player and yeah its BIG.. in my hands looks a lil medium sized in my girlfriends hands small!

Just took my Body Glove cover off that self-destructed after 2 months use(crap). It feels almost too thin now.
Actually the Body Glove is a good cover. It just needs a covering over the plastic that stays glued on.

It's perfect for me. If it's too big, why not get the Droid 2. Unless I'm missing something, the Droid 2 is the same as the X, except for the size and keyboard. For me, having the keyboard be touch necessitates a larger phone.... otherwise a stylus becomes necessary to get good typing accuracy.

I'm a woman though so I just throw it in my purse, so... If I were a guy, size would probably be more important to me. (oops, that came out wrong).

6'2" here and initially was a smidge concerned about the screen size being too large.

After a couple of hours it was clear it was the perfect size. Even a little bigger would be nice.
I can barely stand to use anything smaller now. My wife has a motodroid, and loves hers. I could go back to it if I had to. But am perfectly happy with the size of the X.
