Froyo release day - Nov 11th

I haven't been to eager for 2.2. The overall performance boost with the new browser engine, JIT and the improved memory management will all be nice. Things like Chrome to phone, Bluetooth voice dial, updated camera/gallery features along with other stuff Samsung may throw in there will also nice. Overall I didn't really care about flash or moving apps to the SD card as Skyfire works well and I already have enough storage. The only thing I really wanted was audio through the USB cable so I could pick up and use the desktop and car docks with audio out. That is, I didn't care until yesterday when the Full Tilt app was released on the market. Now, 2.2 can't get here fast enough for me.

What is Full Tilt? I am not seeing it in the market on mine. I searched for "Full Tilt" as well as "Fulltilt" and got a few Little Metal Ball games, Paperdroid Pro and the list of partial matches goes on.

full tilt is the poker website thats very popular and is launching an android version.

however it requires 2.2 and flash i believe, so theres no point in trying til we have froyo

To get a free poker fix, try live poker. I play there. Not to bad really....

It is a pretty good little app and I play there often. They have a tournament version now as well. I also use WSOP quite a bit.

I really want the Full Tilt app more to play for real money though. There is an aspect missing from the game and other's play if there is nothing on the line, IMHO. The only thing that concerns me is that if I lose connection on a poker app now I just lose my fake money. If I lose connection on this app, I really lose money.

OTD & Poker is like a burger & fries. Its possible to imagine one without the other but in real life they are inseparable.

LOL I'm a degenerate gambler and I admit that. ;):D Believe it or not, I actually carry a deck of cards in my purse and a set of chips in my trunk. I also have a stack of chips at my desk that I shuffle when I am not typing.

Now if they only made a strip poker version I would be all over that.

I think there are a dozen or more strip poker apps in the market.

To be back on topic:

With 2.2 a full flash, strip poker apps will probably be more interesting.

amaddox730: In my house we have the original Droid (my work phone), the fascinate (my personal phone), the incredible (wife's phone) and the Eris (my old phone handed down to my son). Of all of them I prefer the fascinate. I tweaked it out quite a bit and would be happy to share my customization list if you like. The Droid is a heavy brick like device that I hate. I love that the Droid has Froyo on it, but that is it. I am not a fan of the motorola hardware. The slide out keyboard is useless to me, the Droid 2 fixed that issue by giving some beveling to the keys but I don't have a Droid 2. I took amazing panoramic photos with my fascinate while on vacation to Santa Fe. I just love the phone. Call quality is much better for me on the SF than the Droid and the video on it is awesome. I have a SlingBox hooked up to my TiVo and watch my home TV on the phone all the time when I have free time waiting for server software to install (I'm an IT Consultant).

Well, that Canadian news brief reported early 2011 for the Fascinate. Sad. Not surprising, but very sad for those of us who were hoping to see 2.2 hit our state of the art device a little sooner. I'm glad the the modding and dev. community is not waiting for Froyo, but I don't see how Verizon wouldn't expect boatloads of devices to get rooted so people can have the features they want/need and unlock the potential of a truly amazing device.

I just can't imagine tolerating daily use of my phone with stock TW and all the other stock crap installed, and without the additional functionality I've added on my own, such as a custom kernel combined with bloat removal giving the same device performance and snappyness of Froyo.

Not sure what you mean :D

Well, it's a joke.

You see, it's taken so long, plus there have been so many predictions.. etc.

(I know you really knew all that, but this thread has become one of the silliest around, so let's keep it that way) ;)

:D etc..

this will change to the end of january for some strange reason!

Frankly, I don't care when an official release appears (if ever)... I just want the leak to drop.

So...
1. mid-october, 2010
2. mid-november, 2010
3. end-november, 2010
4. end-2010
5. jan, 2011

Translation: never.
Bullsh**.

I keep seeing people getting frustrated by the update news, but I think some are getting confused between the European/UK market and the US market.

I had a guy in my office today get all excited because T-Mobile announced that the Galaxy S would have 2.2 available this week. He didn't look at the fact that it was T-Mobile UK that was reporting it. He got really upset about it once I pointed out the difference.

Most of the update dates we have been seeing are for the European/UK market and don't have a whole lot to do with us in the US. Does it move the date for us to get 2.2 up? Of course, but it isn't an overnight thing or anything like that. In the Euro/UK market they release an update and everyone gets it at about the same time. They are typically all running the same phone with the same radio, build, etc. Over here the update has to go through the carriers for testing, bloating, etc. before we get to see it.

Bottom line, the dates everyone has been talking about don't really apply to us and what Samsung says doesn't really matter because they don't have the same level of control. Their release time line could be for when the carrier gets it, not when we do. We'll get it when we get it.

I have a prediction......gingerbread will be out on the original droid, before we ever see froyo on the fascinate:D

its highly doubtful the og droid will ever see (official) gingerbread...motorola gave it 2,2 which will most likely be its last official release...as it benefits them in no way financially to give a year and a half old phone updates
