Root The I borked my SF support group thread

haha first quasi-bork on voodoo5 for me...i forgot you cant flash jts rom over it because of the included kernel (or any rom supposedly kernel or not)

took a second to figure out...but reflashing voodoo back over it worked :)

ha ha did the same thing :( how did you re-install the voodoo5 back on...
I can't get past the SAMSUNG boot screen. Stuck there

ahhh forgot about just sticking the sd card in the computer and putting voodoo on from there. That's what I did. So I reflashed voodoo and still a no go ! I had to go back into cwm after that and do a factory reset, wipe davlik cache and wipe partition. Re booted and phewwwwwwwwwww I'm back in action..... Damn, thought for sure with that modem installed I would have a brickola....

For me it was just reflashing voodoo in cwr

A lot of people are doing jt's super clean ROM with Geeknik's stupidfast (non voodoo) kernel. A lot of us also use launcher pro plus, too. I haven't thrown on the stupidfast kernel yet, and I'm waiting for more reports on battery life. I keep reading answers "it's so fast IT'S SO FAST!!" But not a lot of reports on how battery life compares to some of dirrk's undervolted kernels ... :confused:

yeah id recommend just taking the holiday weekend and maybe rooting and installing cwr. and possibly jts super clean rom from rom manager and one of his non voodoo kernels....

once youve gotten a little used to the phone then we can help you out with upgrading to DJ05 and voodoo if you like

I know shocking right. I still have my X. And as of right now, I still prefer it to the fascinate in many way. LOL but I'm on a mission to eliminate as many of those as possible.

I still have my X but I call it a draw between the two. The X is a better phone phone but I prefer the SF for just about everything else.

I really think the sf is the perfect size. It's big and still can be used one handed and its very light. I can carry it in my shirt pocket and not even notice it. Try that with the X in my jeans pocket I can forget its even there.

The screen on both are nice and when I hold them side by side I like the X's better (I know everyone will think I'm nuts) because of the blue that the SuperA2 screen has but it's better in the direct light so it's a draw.

I actually reactivate the x a lot especially if I need phone reception and I won't be carrying it (like I have it in desk dock at work) but if I go mobile I always reactivate the Fascinate. Its just so much easier to carry.

It hard to get rid of the X though. Not because the fascinate isn't up to par with it but, hell, its still one hell of a gadget! Both Phones make fantastic toys for big boys and even some women.

I think the X is reaching it's end though with modding while the SF is hopefully just taking off.



BTW I like the Superdark ROM by ThatdudeButch with Stupidfast 1.5. I don't think his ROM is dj05 compatible but install his theme ever whatever you install as it has some cool animations.

Alas the sf and I just weren't meant to be. It crashed on me so I returned it. I didn't like it as much as my x. The funny thing is after I rommed and themed it, it ended up looking just like my x(revolution theme) and I thought to myself "what's the point?" I didn't like the screen as much as the x either. Everything just looks sharper on the x. Meh, it was a fun experience and now I have a real world comparison of the two. You guys rock though.

lol yep after you re customize them they look just alike. We'll see how it goes after Froyo and hopefully the devs really start trying to get AOSP going. Because "the point" was/is that the bootloader is unlocked and we can play more than you

I've borked it yet again and have outdone myself. Installed the DJ05 modem and clean rom. I noticed that it still had my settings and stuff ... I wanted to start off clean and did a factory reset ... Now I have an activation screen in 2 languages. I follow the voice prompts like usual ... but It wont activate. I can bypass and kind of use my phone by entering *#83786633 in the emergency dialer.

Then I read in the update notes for DJ05 that is clears teh APN settings for a "full" factory wipe .... FUUUUuuuuuuuuuu

yeah there are random times that you cant activate...happened to me when i flashed an incredible rom once...and it drove me nuts that hour or two i couldnt activate :o

I did that once, and while I was putting stuff back on, everything magically and mysteriously went back to the way it was before I restored it. I used Odin to restore every file, kernel and all. But sure enough, after a particular restart, my old live wallpaper was back, launcher pro was back (which hadn't been reinstalled yet), and all the icons where back where they were before the wipe/restore. It was very odd.

I surmised later that it must have something to do with the lag fix and whatever secret somethings it does to the file structure.

yeah voodoo seems to trap certain files and "things" in your system or at least voodoo2 did
