remove voodoo with [How to] Completely Remove Voodoo Lagfix - xda-developers

u can use the uninstaller if you can get it on your sdcard with a reader/other phone but it hasnt worked for some people. personally id nuke it with adb

then you should be good to go

or maybe just rebooting your phone (that has fixed disable lagfix for me before after batt pull)

Yeah, unfortunately there's no way for me to get the uninstaller on the sdcard. I'm following the instructions adryn posted in the link but I can't get the sdcard mounted and can't adb push the files. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but every time I try to mount /sdcard thru adb it says it failed because the device or resource is busy. I'm probably just being an idiot. Gah.

Ahhh, nothing like waking up on a Saturday morning!

What should have happened:
1) See that there's a new kernel worth playing with
2) Download the sucker
3) Add disable_lagfix to the Voodoo folder
4) Reboot and listen to the robot lady
5) Flash the new kernel!
6) Get out of bed

What happened:
1) See that there's a new kernel worth playing with
2) Download the sucker
3) Add disable_lagfix to the Voodoo folder
4) Reboot and listen to the robot lady
5) Find a fun popup that says something about the UID being different and a "I'm Feeling Lucky" button (gotta love the google devs' sense of humor)
6) Lots of things force closing, and a seemingly random list of apps are all that's on the phone. Market is not one of them, and Astro FCs
7) The Menu button does nothing
8) After a bit, the Home button does nothing
9) Grumble and get out of bed to boot the dang computer

I had a similar plan but mine went something like this:

-Steps 1-4 the same
-Then waited...waited....waited
-realized it didn't work
-booted into stock recovery
-booted into CWM recovery
-now trying adryn's instructions
-getting frustrated

I'm never uninstalling Voodoo, ever :D lol

For future reference, good idea to put uninstaller on the SD before starting the process?

Off to Odin, I suppose. saps, I'll take a room with a window if one's available.
Corner Penthouse Suite for you my dear :D its been reserved for quite some time now ;) I'll leave a mint and a cookie on your pillow :p
Let us know if you have any odin issue I dont think you will be just in case someone is around here or bounce into IRC.
Im going to be raking leaves for the rest of the day methinks :(

Why thank you, you're too kind.

Of course, I have to bork it on the day when I'm going somewhere, so I was messing around with my laptop and phone in the car going to my aunt's house XD. Still not sure what I did to fix it, I started following that "How to completely remove Voodoo" guide, but couldn't get past a step. But messed around some more, factory reset and restored an image, and it seems to be good now. Even have the new geeknik on it!

In other news, this Wireless Tether app works beautifully >.> As does Titanium Backup, but I already knew that one did. Man, I love that app. And now I'm gonna go out and roast some marshmallows on the fire my family has in the backyard, woo.

Sounds good. Yeah Im just getting inside after raking a million leaves, and yes I counted them.
Yeah the geeknik kernels are so fast no need for voodoo anymore. And even though Im a benchmarker with his you dont need them to appreciate the speed.

BTW, if anyone does not have this little gem you should give it a once over Rescan Media ROOT - Android app on AppBrain. It disables that media scanner which is a real drag if you do a lot of mounting with the sdcard or a lot of rebooting. You can also re-enable at will/manually.

Oh man.. I need that app in the worst way. Downloading now.

Thanks, sapsalot! By the way I gotta apologize for not being on here testing and bumbling around with you fine folks lately.

Blame Starcraft 2. I finally bought it and started playing about a week and a half ago. My posts per day have drastically diminished. Arggg.... Way to go, Blizzard.

I know Im loving that lack of media scanner gosh she was annoying.

BTW SK might wanna try this new kernel out [KERNEL] StupidFast v1.0.36 (Stable) - xda-developers. It is the greatest ever. Its better than voodoo, so fast so responsive in the real life stuff like opening apps, gallery, you name it is better than a OC'd voodoo kernel after a dalvik cache wipe I aint even lyin'. If you're still on voodoo [I cant remember since you're so MIA these days ;)] get rid of it for this.

Nice find, I'm going to have to check it out. I hate how long it takes for it to run.

Just for the record, after borking earlier I got my Fascinate working. Thankfully I have a family member with an Android phone as well (LG Ally). I created a disable_lagfix file, rebooted, hung up after the Samsung text. Followed Adryalyne's method but couldn't get the 2 files needed onto my SD card because my computer wouldn't mount it and I couldn't mount it through adb either. So, took the SD from my Fascinate, put it in the Ally, loaded the files, put it back in the Fascinate, followed the thread directions and voila! Glad I didn't have to Odin but happy regardless that I got it working. Now I'm running geeknik's kernel, so I'll be testing it for a bit :)

Blizzard has taken many a forum life away. I used to play Diablo 2 like it was my job :D

And glad to hear your phone has recovered, Maz!

Wow nice recovery there Maz

Thanks guys, glad you got yours working as well MF :). I do love how off-topic and quite random these threads here can get. Good thing we didn't mix up the two topics from MF's post and go from phone-stealing to unicorn-borking (yeah, that was pretty bad but the chance was there so I had to take it) :p

It was nice to see SK back, but methinks Blizzard lassoed him back in :D

Lol. :D

Yeah, I'm still running voodoo. I am just wondering about battery life on this new stupidfast kernel. Sounds tempting. And am I gonna like BLN? I really don't miss it. When I actually have time between SC2 ga... errr... I mean, meetings!! Meetings!!! When I have time between meetings to actually read and respond to messages, it's a piece of cake to just hit the power button and see what I missed. I thought I would miss the notification light, but I really don't. Somethings you really get used to and totally miss when they're gone.

For example, my HTC Eris, bless it's black cursed wicked heart, did one thing extremely well. If I had it plugged into the aux input jack on the car stereo, which most cars and stereos come with these days, if I got a call and had a bluetooth headset going, it would pop right onto my headset automatically. For the life of me I can't get this to work on my Fascinate. I have to pull the cable out of the jack on the phone just to take a call over an already connected bluetooth headset. This is a PAIN IN THE PET UNICORN'S BUTT. I can't figure out how to get it to work.

I miss that feature, and I would really really like to not have to unplug the stupid phone every time I get a call. Why the crap have a "hands free" setup if it's still hands on. A notification light, I can easily live without.

stupidfast is awesome and jt now has something just as good with his 11/15 kernel. Also you can display BLN theres a mod in RomManager to disable it. And actually I dont think its on in the latest stupidfast by default I think its off, but you can turn it on if you want

agreed that jts 11/15 uv is fantastic and my phone can actually run it :)

as far as the fascinate goes "In jt1134 we trust"

i like how jt still makes a Voodoo version of his kernels for those of us who are "infected" :D is wicked beav or someone else still overclocking jt's kernels?

You know, I totally forgot about BLN until I noticed the keys turned on lol. Nice to know I can turn it off though - by now I've gotten into the habit of hitting Power every once in a while and scanning the notification bar. Or I should just get the latest kernel..or I should start having an IRC tab open.. *ponders*

beav's been self-admittedly MIA for awhile and HeX hasnt put out anything new for a week+
you might as well uninfect though buddy less and less support for voodoo and with the new kernels you dont need it
