Wait till 4g to get an Incredible.

Honestly, I don't think I'll be getting 4G until I'm forced to. $50 a month for 5gb??? How about $39.99 for unlimited!!!! That seems PERFECTLY fair to me. It makes no sense to charge $20 more per month for a capped plan when all (most) of us pay $30 for unlimited. Epic fail for VZW if this is true!

Am I the only one who is furious about this? I seriously will consider switching to a different carrier if this price stands true

I'd say $39.99 for 5gb would still be fair, and then $49.99 for unlimited ($10 per gb or so for overages).

The problem is VZW isn't even offering an unlimited plan. $80 will give you 10GB per month. Sprint charges an extra $10 for unlimited 4G. I don't see where VZW gets off, *if these prices are true obviously*, charging this much. Sounds to me like "We're getting the iPhone, people will pay what we tell them to" and unfortunately MANY will and not think twice about it.

Told ya guys.

Actually you didn't. You said double.

First it's $50 for 5GB and this is for the USB Dongles not for Phones. No phone pricing is out yet; heck they are no phones out yet. Wait till February when we will probably see the Inc HD and a tiered data plan for Phones.

Actually right now I can get a 400 Minute plan with unlimited Text and Unlimited 3G data for $69.99 on Verizon, which is "technically" cheaper than AT&T.

The speeds of LTE are faster why wouldn't you expect to pay a premium for that?

Hell Sprint charges you that $10 just for owning the EVO. We don't even have Sprint 4G where I live and my friend still has to pay that $10 surcharge because his phone is capable of it; but thats right only Verizon rapes it's customers.

but that's right only Verizon rapes it's customers.

I'm the biggest pro Verizon guy and have used them for over 15 years. All I'm saying is if these prices hold true then I will check my options and may move to a different provider. I believe VZW does think that with the iPhone coming people will pay anything they have to to be able to use one of the best smartphones EVER on the best network EVER. $50 for 5GB, when we will be using a lot more data because of the faster network, is BS though, IMO. If Sprint charges an extra $10/month for unlimited 4G service why does VZW think they can charge $20 more for less? (unlimited vs 5GB)

But again this is for USB devices this is not for Phones with Phone+Data

EDIT: Right from VZW Website...

Current 3G USB Modems = $59.99 per month for 5GB with $0.05 per MB overage
Current 3G MiFi = $50 per month for 5GB and $10 per GB overage, $80 per month for 10GB and $10 per GB overage

These LTE prices are exactly inline with their current offerings and LESS than their current 3G USB offering; we need to stop comparing this to a Phone+Data plan as these are USB Modems ONLY right now.

No problem...just confused why everyone seems worked up on these prices I personally don't think they are that bad when related to the current 3G

Thanks for the clear up. I was under the assumption these were phone plans.

So we pay $20 more per month to fill our 5 gig quota even faster?

Thank the powers that be for the ubiquity of wifi.

it is amazing how fast bad info travels. every site i have visited people are posting how ridiculous the pricing is! it is identical to existing 3g modem pricing!!!!!!! how can that not be a great value? how hard is it to understand that the $50 is for usb modems, not phone plans.

Because 3g modem pricing is ridiculous (NOT the point people are making, but still a valid point). Considering I'm getting unlimited data, that I could use to tether to my computer, with voice AND a phone for about why 5gb of modem would cost a month (far less than what the 10gb costs). I really don't think the current 3g modem rates are reasonable at all...

But you're points right on. Since the modem rates are about what they're charging now, the phone data plans should be as well.

whatcu talkin bout? 1 year early upgrade? Never heard of it. How much?

If you get a 2 year contract with a phone (in this case, our incredible was released April 29), you can still upgrade for the upgrade price (not retail) after 1 year instead of waiting the full 2 years for your contract to run out. I believe it's a $20 fee for an early upgrade.

i believe you also have to sign a new 2 year contract, effectively locking you in for 3 years.. no?

The article I read said Verizon won't have complete rollout of their LTE network until like 2013. I am pretty sure that my area will have support for it around Dec 31 2012 at 11:59pm. So I wasn't worried about it when I got my DInc. Plus, I would bet 75% of the time I am on WiFi, and 3g is good enough for me at this point.

So I guess whether you wait depends on personal needs and when 4g comes to your area.

I use a number of apps that work either over wi-fi if it is available or over 3G. For the latter, the apps I use seem fast enough. I don't "surf the net" much on my Inc with its itty-bitty screen, and if I send an email response, it is a short one because of the annoyance of using any smartphone's keyboard. Unless there are some "killer" apps out there waiting for 4G, I don't see where having or not having it is going to change my life.
