Root The I borked my SF support group thread

I did that once, and while I was putting stuff back on, everything magically and mysteriously went back to the way it was before I restored it. I used Odin to restore every file, kernel and all. But sure enough, after a particular restart, my old live wallpaper was back, launcher pro was back (which hadn't been reinstalled yet), and all the icons where back where they were before the wipe/restore. It was very odd.

I surmised later that it must have something to do with the lag fix and whatever secret somethings it does to the file structure.

did you use the green CWM?
If you used the green cwm after installing voodoo that will happen. Once Voodoo 5 is installed only use the red one.

There's a green one and a red one? Wow I am behind the times ...

I am getting antsy for a new kernel or perhaps a ROM ... what's hot and recommended these days by most folks?

Antsy haha I've flashed 4 kernels in past 3 days. I'd say best as of this min is 12/3 stable voodoo 5 but thats just imo :D

If I set it to anything above optimum on mine I noticed FC's and decreased stability.

I think everyone just has to experiment for themselves; depends on what you're running and what apps you use. For me with optimum I didn't notice any difference with AK or no AK. I didn't even bother with moderate. With the stock ROM it was running well for me on "strict." On "aggressive" it would close background apps FAST. Like, I'd be in NFSshift, go to poweramp to change the song I was listening to, go back to NFS and it was gone - start over. My browser would have to reload the window when I went back to it after a while. Stuff like that.

With JT's clean, I'm running it on "aggressive" with no problems.

I definitely think AK can make your phone run smoother/faster.

The new kernels I've tried (JT's 11/29 noVoodoo, 12/3 Voodoo) have a default minfree that is more aggressive than the "optimum" setting, so not much point in running that. You can check by setting AK to "system default." I know Geeknik was messing with the minfree on his too but not sure what exactly because I never ran them.

My kernels change daily....but any december voodoo based off jt source is good...,.jts 0.7 dj05 rom is pretty stripped down as well....i havent used blackhole 2.2 but im sure its good. :)

:(ugh I'll be checking back into my suite. Massive kernel test gone wrong. Somehow I lost red cwm which was crap-ville. Bottom Line I had to odin the dj05 rel tar md5 so Im back to stock dj05 ugh. Now its going to take me awhile to get back to where I was. Thanks to nemesis for helping me, that guy is a saint. I've odined before but whatever we broke broke me hard. But as always some how we resurrected the beast. Im done kernel testing for awhile those 1300's will never work for me. Im taking a break for at least a few hours :p no seriously Im probably riding OTBv5.02 till froyo seriously:rolleyes:

:(:(wow this sucks I cannot get any clockwork at all. Im too tried now going to bed defeated:(:(

do you have the stock recovery at least?
I do have stock blue recovery but I cannot apply update zip I get the imfamous installation aborted and for the life of me cannot figure it out.
I've re-rooted numerous times and re-odined the recovery tar 6-8 times and nothing works. I just dont get it

have you tried flashing the voodoo or the noobl permanent recovery?

I know you wouldnt be able to do so via an update.zip since you dont have a recovery to flash them in but you can do so with terminal commands.

OK this is insane I went all the way back to DI01/DH12 stock and I still cannot get clockwork to work. I might hit one of you guys up on irc because Im unable to figure this out

hit me up I have some thoughts

haha...good stuff
he was a godsend I cannot even say the debt I owe him, 1300 did me real wrong [not blaming nemesis at all] just man v5.05 broke my red cwm and that was the beginning of everything bad since with red cwm there is no green. Anyway time to restore

i wonder why the kernel broke recovery...what nemesis changed anyway that caused it

he said something like he was using the master branch and jt was using the voodoo dev branch, I dont know anyone on his 1200 should be fine, equally true he will likely rebuild the 1200's but as for the 1300's those are :( IMO
