Root [ROM] ApeX 1.3.1 for Droid X - Running, running, as fast as it can (12/16/10)

NA,

I can't help but noticing that you are new. I want to welcome you to Android Forums. I also want to tell you that from my research, you are on the safest and most reliable ROM available besides the stock one that comes with your phone. I like to help newbies out and I just want you to know you're on the right course. Enjoy your ApeX.

Steven

Always so nice and such help. Thanks given for your "niceness" :D

Hey fab can we get a revolution edit with the black menu like stock apex. Also the lower slide to unlock and the stock window transition animations lol. I don't know if that's hard to do but I think it would be great bc I think revolution is nicer than gingerbread

yep. it changes to now using then reboots. im starting to think the color doesnt really change. im using swype.

I'm having same issue with keyboard. I ran emulator, ran SU, then entered keyboard -wmt

phone rebooted and the keyboard looks the same.. According to directions, the SD card should be unmounted. But when I run the keyboard script, it says it cant find any files. Should the SD card be mounted or unmounted?

Before installing this ROM do you wipe cache and data?

If you're coming from ApeX 1.2, no. If you're coming from anything else in the world of roms, yes. :D

Always so nice and such help. Thanks given for your "niceness" :D

Thank you, I appreciate that. :D

I already asked him. As I understand it, it is coming in the not to distant future. Sorry to talk for you, Fab, just trying to help.

Im having trouble with wifi. Says scanning....connecting ...then disconnecting . It wont connect but sees the network

I've had this problem with one network (crappy one at work) and I had to unplug the wireless router then plug it back in. Then it worked. It happens every now and then randomly and that always fixes it for me. And it's not just my phone that wont connect. Neither will laptops. Rebooting the router always seems to fix it though

Great rom. :)

I admit I haven't read all 15 pages of this thread, but I'm having issues with Handcent. I did the messaging -mot command in terminal emulator, but I can't get Handcent to notify properly in the notification bar. Also, the pop up window isn't working.

Also, the 3G icon is really tiny, a bit hard to read for my older eyes lol. ;)

has anyone else noticed that sometimes in the messaging app trying to click a texting thread will open up the bottom message thread?

Also does the goodies pack include having the hard buttons stay lit up while the screen is lit up?

I have noticed this as well. Not sure if it is an issue with the Rom or just a glitch in the new software.....

I have been modifying some 3G icons for that same reason, I have some (I use ninjamorph it works quite well, to apply these icons/pictures, in the market), I can give you the link and modify some of my others also, I am trying to get most of the tron theme icons into this and modify some that just do not look good but overall most of the tron theme stuff looks absolutely great!

Huh. 2.2.1 + ApeX has significantly improved the overclock-ability of my phone.

With 2.2 and 2.2 + Apex 1.0, I couldn't hit 1.1 on stock voltages, and could only stabilize it on MUCH higher voltages. I could never really get 1.2 stable, at least not within voltages that I considered okay.

Now, 1.1 on stock voltages is stable, and 1.2 is stable with just small tweaks. Excellent!

im not having any luck running the keyboard script. i put in, keyboard -wmt. i says using white mt bk. phone reboots, but ive put in every script option and they all look the same.. whats up?

I think this was already answered, but in case it wasn't:

Fabolous said:
keyboard: this switches keyboards, with 3 options (gb, wmt, bmt)

gb: gingerbread
wmt: white multitouch
bmt: black (AOSP 2.2) multitouch

Be warned, this does restart your phone after applying this script! Also, upon rebooting, you will need to switch keyboards back to the choice you made, as it will automatically switch to Swype because the script deletes the keyboard first, then restores your choice.

I think you misunderstand. I'm not saying that its not overclockable (if thats a word ) I'm just saying that the fabs scripts for overclocking from apex 1.022 aren't included in this rom. I would prefer not to have to pay for an app if I could just tap out a few commands in the terminal

A big issue I have is the gps. It will not find my location without wifi on in location settings and also puts me about 1000 feet away from where I actually am.

I think (but don't know for certain) that anytime you wipe data and cache you will have to let the GPS system relearn its location and timing. It can take up to 5 minutes (according to Garmin).

And I think this is the issue.

I find sometimes when I wipe clear (re-rom etc) I have to let it sit a minute for the first time the GPS is used. If you never get the 10m location (say after 5-10 minutes) then you have an issue but give it a while to fully update.

Also try using Just GPS to show you what your GPS subsystem is seeing.
