The new marketplace

I was just checking Market updates on my partner's Android 2.1 Sony X10 and was greeted by the new look Market (v2002207 in Manage Apps), whereas my Android 2.2 Desire still launches the tabbed Market (v2.12 in Manage Apps).

Can anyone tell me if their market place is laggy when it loads taking a good few more seconds needed to load up?

I cleared Market cache and data and it still launched the old Market, then I just tried again and it's now updated to the new one, v2.2.7, but I noticed something different to it compared to the X10; on the X10 there is a content filter setting, but on my Desire I only have a Notification setting.

Yeah I got my update yesterday and it's far more laggy than it was before. I know for certain it's not my internet connection (wifi) that's the problem.

Personally I don't think much of this update at all, there's no new functionality (beyond it not installing apps if you've got less than 15mb of free space and just failing instead of installing and then allowing you to sort it out.) and it's slower. Pointless IMO.

ah thats good....I thought it could be that im on HSPDA mobile connection rather than WIFI and that was causing slow laggy use at first open...makes me feel a lil better..

actually alot has changed, instead of there being multiple windows for info, reviews, related etc...its all on one screen with drop down boxes...and actually I've got used to it now...as well as the fact you can have MORE than 2 screenshots for a product now...which is really nice...

I'd say this was more an change of look rather than functionality...thats probably gonna happen in the new year or something when 3.0 comes out for the tablets and REALLY high end phones (I doubt the desire will see it)

I don't think the layout is very clear and with everything on one screen there is a lot more scrolling to find what you're looking for. It feels like more clicks are needed to get to things you want to look at. I actually preferred the tab layout of the old Market.

I do think the biggest change with this, is to kinda match it to the udate to 2.3 android with its use of green on icons etc...notice that the new market place is MORE green :P

Any other Desire owners getting this message when clicking on 'My Apps' in the market?

"Attention
A server error has occurred. Retry or cancel and return to the previous screen."

I can download and install free and paid for apps. I can also update existing apps by going directly to the page.

Tried clearing data/cache etc but no joy.

Anyone else having similar problems? Are there solutions or is it a google thing?

Cheers
Del

Just checked the marketplace and, unfortunately, I have the new one.

I find it to be a little on the ugly side and the green blob taking up half the screen is nothing but annoying.

Beyond the aesthetic changes I am having no problems what so ever.

I have left my market on, cleared the cache, rebooted my phone... but I still don't have the new market!
I'm on TELUS in Canada, anyone else have it??

i am with telus and i just a phone reset to deal with a few bugs and when i did, i had the new market. When i restored i think it did a hidden update or something because when i checked for updates before that there was nothing.

Del, which network are you on? I'm on orange UK and I do get that error quite a lot. Think it just depends how good the signal is.

I'm having the same problem, tried clearing data etc but still the same. Also shows apps I've installed as NOT installed.

Just started having a problem with the marketplace when I try go to the "my apps" tab. It says "a server error has occurred". I recently did the force apps to sd hack. has anyone had the same problem?
